I’ve been going through the Bailey stories in order, and so far this is next to The Valentine Manner as my favorite story. It had such a different angle and it worked great.

I love the descriptions & Foley sounds in these broadcasts. Sparks the imagination - something that books also do, but movies don't.

Virginia Gregg’s voice is so recognizable in so many radio programs, isn’t it? I can always pick her out even if I don’t hear her name in credits.

Some of these stories seem to be very long….this is one of them.,enjoyed but was rather exhausting to listen to….

Want a shorter version of it? Try Episode 144, "The Thelma Ibsen Matter." This is one of several half-hour John Lund episodes by E. Jack Neuman which the author expanded under his pseudonym John Dawson into 5-part, hour and a quarter Bob Bailey episodes. Same plot, only the names are changed and scenes were expanded to fit the longer time available. And in this case, the amount of the benefit was adjusted for the contemporary economy.
