Yousenji Temple, Yuza Town [Lush green moss temple in the water village] 

Yousenji is a historic Soto sect temple located in Yuza Town, Yamagata Prefecture. Located at the foot of Mt. Chokai, it is known as an ancient temple surrounded by rich nature. Yousenji is one of the important temples of the Soto sect, and is positioned as the direct subsidiary temple of the main temple, Sojiji. It is a venerable temple with a history of about 600 years, founded by the priest Minamoto.
Yuza Town is an area so rich in water that it has been selected as one of the ``Top 100 Water Villages''. The clear streams and spring water from Mt. Chokai have become a part of daily life, and the city is said to be a town where all things water come together. Due to the location, Yousenji Temple stands beautifully surrounded by lush greenery and moss.
