Maria Ferguson I live in Europe, and nudist beaches do not have children running around them. Also, European TV channels with nudity have passcodes on them to prevent young children from watching them and usually are only shown after a certain time. In many cultures, nudity is not sexuality, and in Western countries this is also the case in theory, but in reality most people would consider it strange for kids to see their parents naked after a certain age.

I have never seen my dad or my mom naked either (not that I remember at least), but still, for kids, nudity isn't that big of a deal lol. At a certain age, some kids even get interested in seeing adults' genitals and comparing them to their own. Those kinds of parents whose kids have seen them naked are still normal parents. Have you never seen moms or dads in public showers (in a public swimming pool for example) with their children? That's an instance where children might see adults naked and most of the time they don't mind.

I doubt it is an American thing, some families have an open door policy also some locks are easily unlocked esspecially on bathrooms, doors may have the type of lock that all you have to do is push a pin in to unlock it.

I don't see why anyone would lock the door unless there's the chance of little kids coming in (and maybe these people didn't lock the door because their kids usually don't just barge in), although as a kid I don't think I ever did that. But if they do, I would hope they just enter and don't yank back the curtain like nobody's business. No one in my family locks the door while showering. It's not like anyone's gonna barge in. It's pretty clear to hear when someone's taking a shower or to see the light at the bottom of the door. Also, once in a while someone will forget a towel or something and need someone to hand it to them.
