Hey Travis, I'm here to see you win. I admire what you're doing and I've been watching since the start of trying to be a full time lego business. I think you're a genuine nice guy and I follow to see you succeed

Hey Travis, super excited for you and don’t stop! I am in med school right now and your videos I watch at the end of the day to decompress/get a break from all of the studying. I have a Lego collection Star Wars collection of my own so watching your videos everyday gets my mind off my work and takes it to somewhere fun. Thanks so much.

I watch for multiple reasons, I like reselling , I love lego and most of all I realy want to know about youtube and how much money you can make. And thank you Travis for showing all the real figures and doing it in real life. Love ya work brother.

Thanks for the shout-out, I was loving this video for multiple reasons already, then to hear that was really touching. I still remember the first video of yours I saw on TikTok, with the thrift store bin that you posted multiple parts of going through (I think the highlight of that particular first video was horse barding, if I remember right). And then watching the support grow, finding your RU-vid videos and seeing you hit monetization status, it’s been a great journey. Not to mention how inspiring and encouraging it has all been for my own efforts. I’m really proud that I’ve been able to see such growth, and to see that you’re now bringing in what amounts to an entire extra paycheck just from the community you’ve built with your videos, is just more encouragement.

Hi Travis. What I like about your videos is how real and low key you are. You give solid advice, and you don’t come across as scripted (“wait, I forgot my point, let me see what I was talking about” 😅😅😅 ) I really feel like I’m popping by your place to see how you’re doing, hear you chat and then I’m off to continue my day. I’ve been watching for quite a while and I don’t think I’ve missed a video in a long time. Keep up the great content 😊

The irony of this one going viral would be so sweet. But I don't think you necessarily need a viral video. I think (and hope) that your channel will keep growing as you attract the same kinds of people who currently love watching your videos. I feel like I'm "checking in" to see how business is doing and am always excited when a new video drops. Like others I love the transparency and I get American Picker/Storage Wars vibes when you're out hunting for more Lego.

I love seeing this. Consistent steady growth. Creating a community. Yes! That’s what it’s all about. RU-vid is challenging. Earning 1200 bucks in a year you should be super proud of that. I’ve used what I learned over the years and I approach the channel I have now with the mindset of “making what I want” and whatever comes of that is what it is because I truly enjoy the process I have now. If I chase the viral video or kill myself trying to make a flashy video I’m not thrilled to make, then I’ll just burnout and not only will I stop making videos but I’ll probably stop enjoying Lego too. So much better for my mental health. Keep rocking man. Love to see your growth. Big proud 🙌🏼

The power of this community is what brought me to the point of opening my store. 1 year later the eighth biggest in Australia and (I think the only regular vlog). Always enjoy the videos Travis! Love watching someone else on this adventure.

I think the one thing you didn't touch on as being a Lego reseller youtuber is the grind it takes to get to 1000 subs. It took me a year of trying and some of my best content was when I wasn't monetized. I remember thinking how tired I was or how I didn't feel like I had much to offer after getting monetized. We're in a niche and it takes a lot of effort to get to make $1200 a year.
@TravisMarsala
@TravisMarsala 13 дней назад
Takes a ton of effort… I’ve talked about it in other videos, but neglected to mention it in this one: I had blown up a little on TikTok and when the gov started talking about banning it, I asked people to come over to RU-vid. That was a bit of inorganic growth that was definitely helpful.

I started a RU-vid channel but fizzled out due to family commitments. 2 kids, third on the way, work, etc. Definitely wish I could have done more or, like you said, had content that was more practical like filming your business. I love watching your videos, and not trying to give advice here, but I would love to see you make a change on your display pic. Either your face or a logo. The little clones are hard to see on a quarter of an inch circle. lol!

Maybe make some sets and test the durability...crash test, floods, wind storms, or maybe place some legos in the sun and see how long they last. Maybe some viral stuff there, interview random people about lego..I'm sure, you'll get a viral video in there somewhere ?!?

This video will prob take off. Because it’s very useful information. I’d be interested in how much time you spend making videos - do you write script or notes, time filming, editing, posting, etc per video or per week?
@TravisMarsala
@TravisMarsala 13 дней назад
I try to keep it the least time-intensive as possible following the “document, don’t create” methodology. I just record what I’m already doing. Maybe take time to answer a question or two from comments. Editing is most often shaving a few seconds off the front and back of each clip, so editing takes maybe an hour if it’s a more involved video.

If the lunch time time is true, then maybe post a bit earlier in the morning to catch east coast to west coast North America?

Time is relative. Lunchtime - even more so. … but in all honesty that might be a good idea.

Why are they clicking on my videos? I didn't know so I asked Rene at RU-vid and he wrote me "....probably by accident....We can't imagine why anyone would want to watch your videos on purpose. "

Still don’t understand where the money comes from and how videos get monetized. (No worries though, not in the market to be a YT content creator. Just a Lego fan on behalf of my sons and grandsons. )
@TravisMarsala
@TravisMarsala 13 дней назад
Advertisers pay RU-vid to put ads on videos. RU-vid shares that money with people who make videos. In order to get your share, you need to have a certain number of subscribers, and a certain number of hours of your videos watched (those numbers are different for people who make long videos, and people who make shorts) Hope that helps!
