That's a real shame when the truth is that kids NEED to hear this message. As a recovering addict myself (10 years clean from opiates and thank God fentanyl wasn't really on the scene then) I know exactly what the struggle is. I've got 4 kids and I want at least the 2 teenagers to hear every word of this song. They need to KNOW this shit aint no joke or no fun time. My 2 little ones scare me because as bad as it is now, what's going to be out there in 10 more years when they're in high school?? It just keeps getting worse man. The only thing we can do is spread the message and help ourselves cause ain't nobody else gonna save us.

I don't think Ren could have branched off for this song, it wouldn't have been right in a way because it was too personal to Knox. I think having Ren a part of it though was meaningful because I feel like it allowed Knox to open up on this one. It's very reminiscent of Suic*de by Ren at the end. I don't know if Knox would have been as open and vulnerable without hearing that first.

Living with chronic pain with out help from something feels not worth it. I got tired of having to argue with Drs to keep what I was getting at the time. It stressed me out so bad I finally got my self off of opiates. After 20 years taking them I was soo scared withdrawal could/would kill me. Kratom helped with the pain of opiate withdrawal But I still had to rest of that ride to deal with! Took around 3 or 4 months to start feeling normal again. I still use Kratom it helps the pain almost as well as the pharmaceuticals. Plus I also use marijuana! I've been able to stop taking 3 Pharmaceuticals. Mother Nature is Awesome 😎

Was born with severe scoliosis, & had to learn to accept living with chronic pain as a kid, & ended up in the depth of full blown opiate addiction in my late teenage years until I turned 25 & put myself into rehab, been off that cursed "medicine" for over 23 years now

As someone who also lives with chronic pain, I too am trying to get off the opioids. Thankfully I now have a good pain specialist who listens and works with me. I've been tapering off one of the opioids for about 2 months now and should be off it by the end of October. Then my goal is to taper off the other opioid in 2025. I've been in a similar situation when I was 14 (because of chronic pain). At that time I was in and out of the hospital because of extremely severe pain. I had been on high levels of opioids for several months and had developed a dependency without realizing it. The doctors hadn't paid attention and at its worst I was in the hospital on the highest dose of IV narcotics they could safely give. My old pediatric pain specialist finally recognized the dependency, and instead of helping me taper off the drugs, she decided the best thing to do was cut me off cold turkey. I was only 14 and the following 24-48 hours were the worst hours of my life. I still get nightmares about those days. I swore I would never take narcotics again, but 2 years ago I rolled my truck and suffered a TBI and a compression fracture in my back. The pain was so bad I didn't really have a choice but to take narcotic pain meds. I have a weird brain and it sometimes goes haywire and continues to think the severe pain is still there even after the injury is healed. I'm working hard to get off the drugs, but I don't have the strength to go cold turkey again, especially knowing what that feels like.

It's crazy to me how times have changed. I had a chronic pain condition in my teens and my doctor would write me a prescription for 30 pills and 5 refills without batting an eye, just say see you in a few months. It's a miracle I don't have a problem, but I can't take most pain meds without getting sick so I avoid taking them.

@@lajoyous1568 100% agree it's crazy how much things have changed. I think overall they are trying to move in the right direction, but I also think they have swung too far making getting pain meds for those who actually need them too hard to get.

From the other end as someone who lost loved ones to addiction I went through a box of tissues myself hearing this song. Keep fighting man! Someone loves you out there. My failure was not showing my love to my friends in the present, and now all I have of them is the memories of the past, and it sucks! Took all I had to fight my own demons afterward, but 20 years later, I can say there are so many moments that made fighting through the struggle worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears.

My advice to you would be to look up the places local to you where you can get help and, if you haven't been to rehab before, find out how it works. Write down their contact information and keep it, either with you or somewhere you can easily access it. Why? Because nobody can tell you when it's time to quit, only you can make that decision, and you have to REALLY want it if you're going to succeed. But when you've had enough of living pill to pill and you're ready to step away from that life and explore your potential and find out how freeing and amazing a sober life can truly be, then you'll have all the information you need to hand. No stressful searching, no wondering how to get out of the rut, just make a call. I know this will probably feel a little strange to hear from a stranger, but I was raised by addicts and I treat addicts on almost a daily basis... So, when I tell you that you are worthy, you are valid, you are loved, you are irreplaceable; you are worth the fight to get clean and stay clean, because you are more than "just an addict", you are a beautiful and complex human with the ability to brighten the world; sober, you are a far better person than you think you are - you are loved more than you think you are, valued more than you realise; and every person with a heart and a soul wants you to beat this, to succeed, and to fulfil your potential? I mean it, sincerely and with love. When your hopes, wishes, and dreams feel more important than that pill, step away. It's ok if it doesn't work first time - recovery isn't linear. But you will always be more important and more loved than that tablet. I believe in you 💕

I used to use fentanyl patches prescribed by my specialist for extreme pain for several years. It was in a patch form so the dosage was time released and controlled. It was a saving grace for me. But then the dr had to take me off because of fear of losing his license. This was 10 years ago. It took me 3-4 months to wean off of it. I’m glad now that I’m off it because of the stigma that it has. But it was the only thing that really worked at the time. Luckily my pain isn’t as bad as it was at that time. I feel so bad for the people who legit need it and can’t get it any more from a dr. But I feel so much worse for those who have lost someone to something laced with fentanyl and had no idea. My best friend of 45 years lost her son that way and he left a wife and 2 beautiful daughters. 💔

I can't understand why they use fentanyl outside of direct management by anesthesiologists. My mom just had abdominal surgery and the anesthesiologist used a "drug cocktail" that includes fentanyl. That is a medical professional that is supposed to watch your vitals and in real time make adjustments so you stay safe, under and not in pain but but not overdosing you. Why tf is it used outside of this supervision? It's been ridiculous. It shouldn't even be available outside of a medical professional administering it. You can't get addicted during a surgery. And you are so unlikely to over dose when under the care of medical professionals. Does it happen? Yes. But not like the crap on the streets. This is why i support Safe Consumption Sites. Vancouver reduced ODs by 35%. That's a considerable number. And that's what Cliff is talking about

I had issues with both of my pregnancies. with my first they had to put me under GA, which meant my son would get limited GA, for an emergency or rescue procedure. They couldn't do a spinal because I was freaked right the fuck out and they couldn't place the meds (a spinal is different than an epidural just an FYI for anyone that sees this) as soon as that was done, they hit me with the GA reversal agent. His c/s 5 weeks later was a crash c/s under GA again. I wasn't completely out when they started, and that is about the only thing that didn't traumatize me about his birth, because my son needed *out, now!* With my second son, I had the preventative procedure and the anesthesiologist used a very very tiny dose of F to help me relax so I could do a spinal (in fact he did that again when I was rushed back in 21 weeks later for an emergent c/s, he knew I was hurting ~we're talking a 10/10 because of the reason ~, he knew I was tensed up and he got the spinal placed in about 3 minutes or so from what I can remember). When used properly it's very effective, when people start lacing weed with it, that's when you start losing loved ones. my mom had a F patch that did the slow release, she used those for about 3 months. when we had to help her change it we used the foil wrapping it was in and folded it in half sticky sides together, twisted up the foil and stuck in a dark beer bottle, so we never bare hand ever touched the patch. Her use of that did not contribute to us losing her, it was the other Rx stuff. 😟🥺 Sorry that was longer than expected, it happens when I have censor myself.
@palpablenotion
@palpablenotion 7 часов назад
@@AngB517 hey, talk as much as you want. You were really responsible with those patches it sounds like. I only use OTC pain patches (like 4% lidocaine patches) but even than was never touched with bare hands. A good anesthesiologist is so important. They have to account for so many factors and they're one of the medical professionals that seem to clue into patient mindsets fastest. And it borders on criminal (and frankly is criminal sometimes) how traumatic the birth experiences are made by the people there to help. I'm so thankful that anesthesiologist was able to make your situation less traumatic.

They literally gave me fentanyl when I was in labor with my son for the pain and to help me relax. I then had a complicated birth, my son wasn't breathing and was life flighted to another hospital. Of course they tested the umbilical cord and it popped for fentanyl. The hospital my son was flown to called DHS on me for it. Even though I was given it BY LABOR AND DELIVERY at the hospital. Im traumatized by the whole ordeal and actually won't have anymore children because of it. I swear. This drug shouldnt be used ANYWHERE.

The song is wonderful, it hurts like a bitch because there's much in it that just hits way too close to home which in turn means social commentary on an epidemic that hit home with them too. I was given fentanyl a month ago. My gall bladder was infected and almost burst. When the paramedics told me they were gonna make the pain better and that they were gonna use fentanyl, at first I was like 'woah... hold up..." But he explained it to me - that in a medical situation like that it was very safe and effective. Honestly, Ive never been in so much pain in my entire life. They gave me more when we got to the ER too as well as morphine and Dilaudid. At no point did the pain stop though. I was surprised.

I have had similar issues (had gall bladder sludge, had open abdominal surgery for a feeding tube and have had acute pancreatitis.) When I was having the inital GB attacks and then the pancreatitis pain it took a LOT to lower my pain (and they put me on oxygen.) I often get fent for medical procedures (surgeries etc) and get dilaudid/hydromorphone for non-surgical pain (at timnes I’ve had to do the PCA pump. A;so, morphine works just as well as a saline flush. Down’t even lower my HR/BP/breathing.) I actually prefer dilaudid or oxy over fent because it is just SO SO short acting. I’m not surprised that the pain didn’t go away. Those are usually very tough pains to manage. And ironically enough, unless maybe demerol is used, pain can become WORSE because of the way these meds affect the blood vessels (demerol is the only opiate that constricts.) And I’mm glad the paramedics explained. Because honestly, it truly is and it helps so many people either in post-op, people with serious illness etc But again, the stuff THEY have is a. pure b. they know EXACTLY how much they’re giving you and always have stuff like narcan and oxygen (be it a canula, a mask or even a ventilator) on hand God forbid. Hope you’re feeling better these days!! Forgive the long essay!

Then they explained what all they had done. RN went out of the room and I asked my dad what I should do (because my trauma with that is his trauma too), he said well stay on a schedule, if the less powerful stuff helps ok, if not wait the 2-3 hours then take it. I took that sh!t with new alarms on my phone if I didn't need one, I didn't take it, I fixed the alarm on my phone. It scares me.

In the UK we can get mild opiates such as codeine and yeah, if you go to multiple stores you can get as much as you want, but you cant buy large amounts in one go in one place and if you were there regularly its likely they would stop selling to you. What is very different in the UK to the US is how pain medication is prescribed. Unless you are in a huge amount of pain, it is unlikely you will be prescribed anything that you couldnt get over the counter, so the kind of opiates that have caused so many issues in the US just wouldnt be regularly prescribed in the UK unless you had chronic pain and even then they will try to manage it in any other way they can rather than prescribing something known to be addictive. Getting prescriptions over here for pain meds is not influenced financially... doctors dont get any bonus or incentive to do so therefore less opportunity for it to be abused like it has been in the US. What happened in the US due to big pharma and these drugs was shameful and my heart goes out to anyone affected.

there's a database that every pharmacy is connected to for all controlled Schedule 1 and 2 meds. If they see that you filled a medication 5 days before at a different location, they won't fill it. The earliest you can refill a medication that has refills but still controlled, is 3 days. With a medication that requires a new Rx from the dr every time (like ADHD meds, pain meds etc) it's 5 days because the dr has to send the Rx to the pharmacy ...... at least in my state.

Knox's story was so perfect to tell in this way. And guess who the Director of Photography was? Yes! The one and only Samuel Perry-Falvey. I am so hoping this video is spread far and wide. The message is so important and timely. The performances were Art, and the Stunning video itself should win awards. These three guys made a GREAT collab. I'm inspired! Looking forward to many more💜

Wonderful song, truly I know I lot about the tragedy Fentanyl is in the US,first hand because my best friend has been living in NYC since 2014,and she works for an international ngo that fights against drugs and mostly helps people battling with addiction. Here in Europe it's growing and they're actually trying to fight it and prevent its spread in a serious and well thought out way

Just wanted to touch on one thing you said Cliff, and I'm not hatin' or throwin' shade AT ALL, I know it came from a good place, and out of pure frustration, but when you say things like, "I can't believe these people have testing strips, if you're testing your drugs then just quit". Until you've been in the claws of opioid addiction, you have NO IDEA how strong it is, and I've never met an addict that doesn't desperately want to "just quit". I lost track of how many people I've found dead, who died in my ambulance or at the hospital as we transferred care to the docs, but I remember all their faces, and none of them wanted to go that way. With or without the test strips, with or without safe places to shoot up, with or without programs that distribute clean needles and alcohol swabs, an addict is gonna be an addict, there ain't no two ways about it. It's been proven in studies time and time again, harm reduction programs like those reduce OD's, they reduce the amount of discarded supplies all over the city, and they increase the chances that those addicted will reach out to those providing harm reduction supplies to finally get the help they need. Despite my job and what I mentioned above being a witness to, just like Knox's cousin, I hurt my shoulder, except on duty at the firehouse, luckily just before Fentanyl became popular, but my dad passed around the same time, and I found myself in an almost 3 year addiction to pain pills. I somehow managed not to lose my job and eventually checked myself into rehab. But I was extremely lucky to have the financial means and support of my family and brother n sister firefighters to do so, I cannot stress enough how strong the grip of opioid addiction can be. I've been clean as of last month, 9 years, and every now and then that old feeling still hits ya briefly. Much love to all my brothers n sisters out there that got their demons under control too, and even more love to all those still in the dark battling theirs, we are with you, we see you, and you CAN beat those demons, I promise!! If ya made it this far, thanks for reading Cliff, and thanks for all ya do with your Discord and advocating for mental health! ✌💚

Nice work Knox & Ren!! My mom had knee surgery, I cannot believe how many opiate pain killers she was prescribed when she left the hospital. She only took them for day 1 then switched to regular strength store stuff. I was glad but the quantity freaked me out. Big pharma incentivizes the medical system to prescribe them so much. Thanks Cliff ❤❤❤

I woke up from a medically induced coma dependent on the oxy they used to sedate me. I went through withdrawal in the hospital, or at least the worst of it. I've been through a lot physically, but that withdrawal process was the worst physical AND mental pain I've known. I delivered a baby via cesarean 3 months later. I told them prior to delivery and during postpartum care to NOT give me oxy in the hospital or as a take home script. What did they send me home with? You already know. 😵‍💫

They gave me that crap when I was in the hospital and they had to unclog my bike duct cuz it was assaulted my liver like a week ago. The come down off that shit was not pleasant. Especially since if had to be on morphine pills for the last year due to a back injury. Then the lovely asshats sent me home with no meds and so welcome back pain and now his buddy withdrawal. But I made the decision I’m not going back on the crap full time. Might have to take a different med for pain. Thinking herbal has never fucked me up like those opioid

My first exposure to fentanyl was in the 90s. I was working as an aide at a hospice. The patches were/are miraculous if you're dying with cancer in your bones. One of the 74,702 in 2023 was my brother, in February of that year. I don't even know if he knew that there was Fentanyl in the Coke he took on his lunch break, but he dropped right there. The co-worker who did CPR bought us all time to say goodbye, but he never regained consciousness. I don't know what went wrong, but the substance itself isn't evil. How it went from hospice to the street involves lots of evil people and evil deeds though

Lost a friend I grew up with too from H with 16. After he came back from rehab he had to go back to his physical and mental abusive mother because he was underage and was forced to life with her again. She was still an abusive piece waste of skin. And in the end he overdosed. Doctors are not to blame here, they did a very good job, our health care system in Austria is very good. No one besides his mother is to blame here, she also tricked the government child care programm, only to get him back and having a victim she can abuse again.

Hey Cliff, it’s not just your video. I had to search this song out + all the reactions I wanted to listen to break it down & I’m subbed to all. None showed in my recommended. I live near Glasgow Scotland so opioid abuse is real close to my heart & a massive issue here too. I think this could be Knox’s best track. Love the wordplay, how he told the story, the production, video, REN’s hook. It was so well done. Glad I was able to find it. Much love xx

I totally get and support the point where you say if you need to go so far as to test this shit before taking it you should have stopped long ago, but the way you portrayed it for me had a lot of shame/guilttripping in it which is literally one of the worst problems regarding addiction itself... I'm sure it wasn't meant that way, maybe I just interpreted this badly, but felt like I wanted to share this anyway to also call out to everyone that might feel ashamed for using. Don't. Fuckin don't. There's no shame in this, everyone has their demons and everyone's battle is different, if you've sadly gotten the cards in life of hard substances and to top it all with a genetic predisposition to addiction as many people have that don't even know it, please believe me you are not alone. Anyone can get help, the hardest step is to start actually looking for that help..

GREAT QUESTION, I have 2 stage ESOPHAGEAL CANCER for the 2nd time ,in the past 6yrs & wear a FENTENOL PATCHES, but the problem is that regular Dr's were prescribed all these drugs for "minor injuries "! Specialists DR 's PAIN, PALUTIVE/HOSPICE DOCTOR'S are a MUST! I also LOST my mother & BROTHER to DRUG ADDICTION. My TEAM of DOCTOR'S are WELL AWARE of MY HISTORY. It's the ONLY WAY I have QUALITY of LIFE TODAY!!! GREAT REACTION! DRUG EDUCATION is a MUST & DR'S needs to GRADUALLY LOWER the DRUG DOSAGES,that takes TIME!❤😂

I agree, people are going to get what they want... Fentonyl is an opioid, so like morphine and pethadine and heroin... oxytocin, so Fentonyl is the strongest now... using H is one thing, but when you get it without knowing at a hospital? Yes physically for pain, but all emotional pain goes too... no one can prepare you for the withdrawal. We, (I am a recovering heroin addict) try and try under the shade of the stigma. You come clean, you can't use what you used before cause your tolerance is gone, most people od that way. I feel that if a Doctor is going to give you opioid /opiate based pain medication? He's not caring anymore than a dealer on the corner.

So many people have lost someone through senseless practices. When the medical field always prescribed nothing but addictive drugs and yes they will administer fentanyl an extremely dangerous drug. My neighbor was in the hospital for gall bladder surgery , was given fentanyl, her husband thought she wasn’t going to make it because things didn’t go well after receiving that dose. I was shocked. Why are they giving people fentanyl. I love the song❤️. A tragic story that occurs way too often. Thanks Cliff 🙏

The maximum amount of codeine over the counter in the uk is 8mg. We’ve got to a place where people go to the doctor and are not happy on the bottom level of the analgesia ladder. Some people are on a multiple amount of nerve blockers and opioids, all prescribed by doctors. As a health care professional in the uk for nearly 40 years I have seen and dealt with the aftermath of drugs and alcohol.. But what I’d like to get across is that drugs are definitely not readily available over the counter. We have so many restrictions and rightly so. You can’t even buy certain cough medicines without an interrogation.Thank you for your reaction. Knox and Ren have done a great track. Much love from the UK.

You can buy very low strength codeine ove the counter, but even things like paracetamol/tylenol, you can only buy 32 as a maximum from a shop/pharamcist. They will cannot sell you anymore than that, as it is illegal for them to do so Strong opioids and pain killers can only be prescribed by a Dr or consultant.

This one hit too close to home for me. There's a kid I helped out of a bad situation when he was little. He's like a son to me and he was a good, smart kid, as a young adult, he had his shit together. His own place, car, govt. job, he was engaged and then a car accident derailed his whole life. Dr. gave him fentanyl for the pain and he's addicted to it now. His entire life is spiraling out of control and he's not ready to get help. It kills me every day to see him like this, just waiting for him to hit rock bottom and get serious about wanting help.

Thanks for calling out doctors pulling people off cold turkey. It's horribly cruel to do that to someone. I speak from personal experience, I was only 14 years old. I had some weird neurological issues that caused episode of extreme pain. I had been battling a long episode and had been on extremely high doses of multiple narcotic pain medicines. My body developed a dependency and I started going through withdrawals between doses. The pain specialist realized what was happening and decided to stop all pain meds cold turkey. That was the hardest and worst 24-48 hours of my life. I still have nightmares about it. The feeling of sheer terror but having no idea what I was afraid of felt unbearable. The pain increased to the point I was drifting in and out of consciousness because of how much pain I was in. I wish I could forget all that I went through, but its seared into my memory. I was only 14 years old. I don't wish what I went through on almost anyone, but especially not on a child. The only person I wish would experience what I went through is that doctor who decided I should go cold turkey. This experience with this doctor isn't even the worst thing she did to me, but that's another story for another day.

I’ve lost friends too, even before it was available on the streets. I’ve also known people in hospice who truly needed fentanyl, so I understood why it was needed. When it hit the streets I knew what was coming though. I used to do volunteer harm reduction a couple decades ago & I even had a friend who had a legit prescription for heroin. He had to pick up his dose from the chemist every day & he lived happily & safely for decades. He was among the last people approved for a prescription in the UK. 💜

Some people need pain killers. I understand people start using when they have a legitimate reason prescribed by a doctor. I will be on painkillers “til the day I die” as my doctor told me. Doctors don’t care about fixing the problem. Although Health Insurance also stops us getting what we need.

So fentanyl is not a huge issue in my country, but as someone dying I am on it prescribed along with morphine to manage the pain and it enables me to get through each day and be here for my family as I get closer to the end. So yeah....the way it has become such an epidemic and killer is horrendous, the lives and families shattered. My family however is grateful. But then my fentanyl patch is a prescribed amount and kept within a managed limit. I will never be off it till I die which will be soon. Just wanted to add my wee bit here. Oh my family laughed when I saw this release and laughingly told them Knox and Ren had posted an anti me art piece lol. I am joking but even through my jokes I have seen what it is doing to lives in other countries and mourn that the drug enabling me to have precious time with my family takes others from theirs.

Don't apologise for being passionate about this. I think we all know someone, either friends or people we know from school, who succumbed to some addiction or another. Its important we talk about it and share our feelings on it, even if we have to vent our rage about the stupidity of governments in dealing with addiction issues.
