Well.....I just turned 72 last month. And.....I just started listening to this soulful classic about a week ago. I wish that I had not waited so long to re-experience it!!! It makes me cry!
This song makes me wanna cry, it reminds me of being a kid and playing with my Dad outside under the big tree we had in our yard. It reminds me of the times that we used to fish and take trips in our camper. What I wouldn't give to have those days back at my feet again!
This song always reminds me of when I had just turned 17 years old and had enlisted in the Army Nov. 1970. I was sent to Fort Polk, LA, a.k.a Tigerland for Vietnam combat training along with a lot of draftees. That is what it always takes me back to, actually to a vivid memory of a specific event. But, I have always loved the Four Tops and both versions (Peace) and (Love) of this song more than any other song in my life! I miss them so much!
Walk with me" down memory lane and "if i don't brag or boast" says it all. NOBODY could bring it like Levi and this isn't just a favorite love song. It's my favorite song PERIOD. I fell in love she was so fine I didn't brag or boast. When seeing was believing don't click my glass & toast. She was so fine when she was mine she's still my favorite song
The other day I was at a bus stop in L.A, just got off work, lit a spliff, and a bum with his radio was playing this song..I was immediately transfixed and sent to a serene place. It felt so good! I couldn't remember the name of the song until a few minutes ago, and I got the same feeling all over again.
I am 44 yo and he was on Motown 25 and he had glitter in his hair and his suit was so sparkly, he became my play boyfriend. He also did the voice of Audrey 2 the plant in Little shop of horrors.
Holy nation me and my daughters and grandchildren , I shall wait on my Father God for he is my king of Kings whom I trust in the name of Jesus Christ Amen I thank you God for everything Amen ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
First time I heard this song was in 1970. Sitting in the College cafeteria. Someone played it on the jukebox. Loved it ever since. Brings back good memories.
was a very magical time for me and every time I play this song I am being transferred right back to this magical time zone where love peace and happiness were felt all over! oh how I wish for 1972 to return!
I think this song describes the ideal marriage in the opening monologue. I rank it as one of the most beautiful "r&b" tunes ever written, right alongside Smokey Robinson's "I Love Your Face." I yearn for, but have not had this experience in marriage. I was once married for 16 years. On our 6th anniversary we lost a 2 yr old due to an accident at our friends' home and things began to crumble thereafter. We struggled for an additional 10 years (including a 2 year separation). He's been deceased now (my ex-husband) for 9 years. However, until my last breath I will continue to pray for and imagine what it would be like to be happily married.
One of the Best songs ever composed in my personal opinion . I was 15 yrs old the first time I heard it and it was like the whole world stopped and my Soul just gravitated towards it !
There's depth of emotion in Levi Stubbs vocal that touches my soul, every time I hear it, so perfectly enhanced by the vocals of the other three harmonising voices... This song so wonderfully inspires... KTf
This is how the song was originally recorded, but Quality control at Motown made them cut it into two parts, one subtitled Peace, the other subtitled Love. 34 years later, on Hip-O's "Fourever" box set, we now have the song as originally intended, what you hear here.
Levi, you did it with this song. God it's a beautiful version of still waters run deep and I just heard it about a month ago from the man that took my heart and will always have it forever. My heart hurts but this song makes me feel better because it's our song a version I never heard before. Just beautiful! Thank you Levi RIP. Benjamin I love you!
Oh my... there are so many places and faces and memories tied up in this one I can hardly think straight. I'm not at all religious, but whoever it was that arranged for me to be on the planet when all this glorious explosion of music was happening, I am forever grateful... Mel Cornwell, England, 2024
I always loved this song. My Mother played all of Motown's music and I so loved The Four Tops. Levi's voice was so soulful and that baritone was superb. He was a man of honor, love and devotion to those in his life. Staying together as a group allowed his friends to live a wonderful life, just like his. His marriage stood the test of time for 50 years.(?) May he be welcome into the kingdom. Rest in peace Levi.
AMEN ,our mum too.Would of been her birthday other day,our brother sent this to family w.sapp, one of her favs, tears all the way.our brother lives in the Bahamas,Levis home town,he sounds a most wonderful man🤗💖🙏
This may be my favorite RU-vid video of all time. It has always given me a peaceful feeling over the years as I've gone through life's ups and downs. Thank you very much for posting it. Peace to you and everyone here.
I have read the comments and I agree with y'all. This song is everything y'all say it is and more. I does jerk tears out of me. Awesome classic. My favorite tops song ever.
We should all be so lucky to walk with God and live our lives in peace, harmony and strive to make him happy for all that he has done for us by being good to one another, stop hating and causing turmoil for others. Imagine how good that would be that we could make him smile and relax knowing the world he created is in good hands and his sacrifice of Jesus was worth it.
This Song Goes Out To My Ex-Husband Wes 🙌 I Will Always Be Greatful Too You!! Because, You Gave Me The Greatest Love Of My Life 🙌 And, "That.. Is Our Son " 🙌 😇 And, Nothing Can Be More Rewarding Than The Son That You Help Give To Me 💛
I am very happy to see this video back on the net! This video is my all time favorite. I miss this video. The visuals have a connection to the infinite. I think every one should understand we are only here for a very short time. enjoy life, the connectivity of our environment, the human bodies with spirits in them, and that the we need to practice our mortality.
so true and God bless you.i just can't stop listening to this beautiful and masterfully put together song smokey Robinson and song by the four tops.if you don't get emotional listening this song that means something is wrong with you and there's no love inside of you.
Happy birthday my beloved friend Denise N. and my son in law Doobee today is January 31, 2023... Denise was a dearest junior high school friend and I'm grateful to be able to [[[[SALUTE]]]] her home coming which happened over 15 years ago. ♡❤️♡
When I was 14 and had a Motown Collection on vinyl...1972, I used to think this reminded me of Amelia Earhart. The arrangement made me think her plane, lying on the ocean floor and sun filtering through down to where she rested. It had this eerie, ethereal quality to it.
I went to a wake for a lady I worked with who had married her highschool sweetheart and stayed married for 43 years. You could tell her husband is still passionately in love with her. love this song.
Beautiful version…Levi’s voice is so beautiful and when he talks ooh 😮 moves me to tears !!!!! RIP Levi still missed but what songs you have left us …peace be with you in our dear Lord’s arms ….🥲🥲🥲🥰🥰🥰🥰
I remember walking down on the monument mall & met this young lady from Charlotte North Carolina,it was one of best year I ever had but alas she left me,May she R.I.P always forever in my heart
You have to appriciate the fine arrangement by the Funk Brothers , who start out with Uriel Jones' drums at the beginning , then Jack Brokenshaw falling in on the vibes , Eddie " Chank " Willis , Robert White , Joe Messina on the guitars then James Jamerson on bass with Johnny Griffith on the clavinet .
It was only yesterday when this song made it to the top of the charts. Take me back, take me back..to the beautiful place in time when everything was beautiful.
TH I S IS THE JAM LOVE THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF MY ONLY SISTER THAT GOD BLESSED ME WITH,, BUT IF ONLY SHE FELT IN HER HEART THE SAME WAY I DO... TO MY SIS DOTTIE AGUILAR... FROM UR LIL SIS TR
Memoriez : The sacrifices and struggles a person can do and the downfalls of life that we dont deserve but getting through the storms and beating the battles is the beauty of it . (Being A Warrior)Warrior Of God....
