Oh my god. I was so out of it I forgot to mention that Patreon Supporters get to see videos early with no ads! That's a good way to bypass the algorithm problems I think.
Even with me setting the channel to all Notifications, I get most, and by most, I mean 90% of the time, I get notified by the discord multiple hours, and even sometimes days, before RU-vid notified me. So, even if you set it to all, RU-vid will not send you notifications unless you are regularly watching the channel. Wanted to share that with you, see you in supporters chat.
Hi ace, Ale from tf2 here, I've been with your channel for the past 9 years, I subscribed to your channel when it haf a small 400 subs and currently stands over 100K, I'm proud of how far you've come and even pushed through all the YT BS, but I must say this because I think it's a thing, last year i was unsubscribed from your channel 6 times and i think i figured out why. If you don't have the bell set to all you don't get notifications, but I've noticed whenever I got unsubscribed from your channel it was probably due to me not viewing your channel, so YT might have this aspect in place that if you don't watch a channel for a month or 2, YT purposely removes that channel from your subscriptions, I say this because H2O Delirious and Seananers were no longer in my subscriptions but I've never unsubscribed. So you might've lost some people because of this, I don't know but I've seen it happen all last year.
RU-vid, like all massive businesses, only care about the money they make, its algorithm is designed to force you to do things their way, and ruin your life for them

well the problem is that if he does that, youtube will drop from the recommended page. so a lot of his subscribers won't be getting his videos recommended them unless they have notifications on. few new viewers will be getting his videos.
Sadly, this is the first notification that I got from you in....months, actually. ...interestingly, I got instantly about this one. Which is very sad. On better note your voice is perfectly fine. I thankfully haven't yet have super weird recommendation but that's might be for the fact that I watch things which literally cannot be connected to politics by any normal logic.

As YT is being an ass I feel like I have to algorithm bumb this vid. So hopefully this comment will help. YT is awful as all hell with the notifs and the algorithm. It's also so awful that YT went MORE aggressive with the ads, tries to ban adbl0cker and STILL doesn't try to help its creators unless they're extremely big or uploading slop. I understand that YT is not profitable (the amount of bandwith and storage space used is given for free), but these other things are EXTREMELY bad. Ace, you are NOT e-begging, you are calling out to YT to get their shit together and focus on user experience, both as a viewer as and especially as a content creator. #ForTheCreators
Don't feel bad about asking for help when you're in need of it. You clearly do need it, that was highly apparent in the video. I loved your old content and I love your new content. This is actually the first time commenting on one of your videos actually and it's cause it's extra engagement.
As one of Ace's best friends, I watch ace's videos to show my support for him, even if I'm not interested in the content. I have my notifications set to all, and watch EVERY. SINGLE. VIDEO. And I still rarely get notifications. It's a broken system. Funnily enough I got the notification for THIS video, but I don't remember the last time I got one for another video. Hey, im a weirdo who checkes her sub box religiously (because RU-vid's notification system is terrible, I really dislike push notifications, and I'm also subscribed to Siivagunner) But something ive seen people do, is change the thumbnail lf a video after its uploaded to find what gets the best ctr, and from what ive seen, it works really well

I watch via subscriber feed and not push notifications, seems like subscriber feed has remained purely order of most recent upload, and not algorithmically driven, I've seen your videos in my feed this whole time even if I don't watch many of them nowadays. It also helps that I have the discord in my sidebar to give me a ping, but I usually cross an upload before I even go to see a ping. Stay strong, Ace.

About the whole voice thing: I recently injured mine, too. For a whole day, I sounded like I was from New York and had been smoking since birth (I'm from the Deep South and haven't smoked in years). Vocal chord injuries are no small joke, and especially if you were deepening your voice before the big RU-vid moment(tm), I am not shocked that your voice is so radically different nowadays. For context: I do VA work for all of my characters. Also, thank you so very much for telling us to check our subscriptions. I follow the myth and legend Boisvert and apparently they've been uploading for the past year and a half, but RU-vid did not recommend me even a single video.
Truefully I've been subbed for the variety content for awhile more then TF2, (Starbound, Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, ect) however I'm glad this video got recommended to me. Changed my notifications to "All", keep up the content and best of luck man!
Honestly, from what I can tell, the algorithm is very against gaming stream highlights, but I understand that the massive productions that requires a LOT of editing and it’s very difficult to justify starting it. If I have any suggestions, please make a Patreon goal that at a certain amount funded, you will do a video akin to your top 9 loadouts series. Create hype for an upcoming project, and that should help drive viewership for all videos.

I went through so many thoughts throughout this video, and I'm so glad that this video out of all of them got recommended to me! While I personally haven't actively watched you in years, I still really love your content and check in every now and then to see where you're at, and I absolutely hate what RU-vid's algorithm is doing to it's creators in the recent years. I know that you probably won't really consider this idea at all since it's coming from a RU-vid comment section, but I thought that you could potentially try becoming a VTuber with how your voice sounds now? I do thankfully see your vid's pop up in my main feed, but there are a lot of other subscribed channels (mainly animators) that never pop up and I have to manually check for them, this is a YT wide problem and it sucks. Note to anyone: If you are subscribed to a channel, *always* check the "subscriptions" tab on the side bar of the main page, if you see a blue (or red) light next to the channel name, they posted something new on their channel (community tab posts are the only exception, which are _supposed_ to appear on the main page, but I don't get them for some reason).

I don't even have all that many active people I'm subscribed too, though thinking about it I need to go check their channels to see if RU-vid has just decided I shouldn't give a shit about them.

Im so glad you understand ad blockers! I use them because i dont got the money for premium but some really common sounds in ads (stock chewing, the monotone voices ect) make it impossible to enjoy a video without my little pee brain deciding to shut down because noise bad
Of course. Sometimes I need them on just to be able to run RU-vid in the first place. All of the ads and trackers can slow my browsers to a crawl. It makes it impossible to listen to RU-vidrs and Music in the background while I do other things on the browser.
Surprisingly I was getting most of your uploads on my home page and of course I was watching them fully, channels that I've known for a long time could be just a top priority for me, subconsciously.

I used to watch your videos years ago (especially the Sea of Thieves videos), and ever since I decided to see the recommendations page more often, for some reason, I just stopped getting notified of uploads by RU-vidrs that I'm actually subbed to. My recommendations page right now has just become a jumbled mess that is irrelevant to me, and so I checked up on my subscriptions. Man, the fact that some of my past favourite YTbers (including you) are struggling right now on the platform saddens me. Hope you get through it, Ace.

Apparently I subscribed on September 15th, 2021. Which doesn't seem right, since I know you were someone I started watching back in 2017 or 2018 when I was first getting into TF2. I always thought I simply didn't have the mental capacity to keep up despite the small amount of channels I'm subscribed to. It's heartbreaking to hear that what I thought wasn't the case at all.
i can confirm that even though i have the bell on and am subscribed, i very rarely see a notification and i watch almost all of your videos. most of the time i see your content via the home screen but this one i did get a notification for though. edit: i agree that youtube is more like a business now, it is getting harder and harder to start out, and continue going. you have to spend all of your time making videos and editing and thinking of ideas or you loose your ability to make any money from youtube or get any views which in turn lowers how you feel in the long run. RU-vid used to be a platform made for everyone to post videos for anyone to see, now its a platform where the big creators are doing bad and the smaller creators are struggling to stay afloat and the new creators are failing to make any progress. Man, I'm sorry this is happening. I watched your stuff all the time when the algorithm showed it to me, but it just decided not to at some point. Ironically the only reason this got to me was because the algorithm got this sent out. It's ridiculous what the algorithm decides is worth having people watch. I’ve been so hesitant for the last year and a half to give to anyone because I don’t have a lot of extra income to contribute. I’ve struggled with the idea that if I do give I’d only be able to really help one creator or do basically nothing for a couple. I’d only be able to give $1-2 to you and a handful of other creators a month or at most $15-20 to one. Every couple months for the last three years I’ve seen a video like this and it really hurts, so many creators who’ve happily given their work for free to me for 6+ years are being betrayed by a company that’s been failing for years

To be honest, I had no idea that your voice pitch change was an irl issue; I hop randomly through your channel's video history and thought that you decided one day to alter the voice in post-production to better fit your Florian (spelling?) avatar. ^^; As for the RU-vid algorithm screwing you over, there's a reason it's called the corporate MACHINE (even if nowadays that point is becoming more and more literal). Just hang in there, keep making content you're proud of, and eventually the RU-vid algorithm will get its head out of its ass and put you back in the proper spotlight. :)
I didn't get this notif until 12 hours after! I've had my notifs on your channel set to all for like 5 years now and I've hardly been recommended any of your content for a couple years now, in fact I thought you just stopped uploading for like a year or so only to find out that I was just never told about any of your uploads. I've got notifications for around last 3-4 vids you posted, (i have bell on all), just personally was less interested to watch tf2 live gameplay commentary. Keep up good work, you do have your own niche. And also, i had sometimes notifications, really recent, that would direct me on old videos from youtubers that i watch (videos are like, 1 week, month, year old). That's the curse you'll get for being content creator, to keep up with algorithm, hope you''ll get better
Thank you for announcing new videos on the Discord. Sometimes that's how some people know that new video is up. I don't get notifications on new videos on RU-vid and sometimes miss some videos. Also commenting for algorithm purposes
I remember a wave where the one of the videos top row of your home recommendations would always have a quitting video of a youtuber who's genre you had never touched, I was lucky yo have all notifs for this. Good luck dude, RU-vid can just be so weird sometimes

This society has made so many natural, NEEDED things so hard to do. Animals are born knowing what they need to do to survive. Humans are born, screaming for help. That need never truly goes away despite what people may say. Many never learn that lessons which continues suffering and often ends horrible. I havent been enjoying a lot of youtube channels I classically have jumped to watch. I think its the depression kicking up, I dont know if its just me getting older (the age old curse.) Nothing hooks me anymore like it did a few months ago.

Glad your bring this subject up that your videos aren't reaching people. For some reason I wasn't getting videos in my notfications or loading up for a while for a few months just till like month or a two.
Even though Ive been more of a quiet one around these parts and took a long break from TF2, I have set channels I like to all since its dumb as hell that youtube is dictating what I like and don’t like as the whole point in subscribing is because I like a channel. Really hope things work out for you as your channels been absolutely awesome as I was playing TF2 and it absolutely sucks RU-vids been handling this situation this poorly.
A lot of YT creators are going through tough times because of the new wave of demonetizations, it's not to say that what you are going through isn't hard. Considering that you haven't had to ask for help up to now shows how much passion that you put into the work that you do.
As part of my TF2 part of childhood it really sucks to see as usual corpo throwing you under the bus, but it okay, we are here to support even if this is what is happening. Hell it not even shameful to admit, hope everything will be better. Stay strong
I haven't seen that much issue with lack of notifications, but I habitually set it to 'all' whenever I subscribe to anyone, so maybe it's in part that. Admittedly, sometimes I miss a video because it gets put into the 'I'll get to these tabs later' area and then I.. don't really get to it later, and those are as good as gone. But your content is worth watching, it's entertaining gameplay and friends making jokes, a wonderful break from the endless challenge runs and video essays most of the site seems to be now.

Ace you and many others are in the same situation asking for help is something many need to do, yet don't because they feel bad asking. many of us are here to help and stay to support you no matter what happens, and if something else were to happen I'm sure many of us will rise to help.

I've been mostly an on and off viewer, but a while (probably a year ago) back I experienced a bit of a silence from your channel. I kinda assumed you took a break and kept going on from there. I'll admit that I have subscribed to several channels that I just don't really care to watch anymore, and the ones that I do watch kinda have to fight for the spare time that I have. Something that has just shrunk even more fairly recently. Even so, I do enjoy watching others having fun in what they do. I'm sorry to hear you've fallen on such hard times. Your content has been a part of my life since I first discovered your channel as a young teen. The way you laugh and scream and joke with your mates in your videos seems so much more genuine than anything else I've seen on RU-vid, and id hate for one of the last channels that brings that sense of joy and honest feeling to the platform to be wiped off the map by a bloody algorithm. I've watched pretty much all of your videos since I found your channel and the thought of seeing your channel vanish stings more than even Matpats departure has for me. I hope to see your channel flourish someday since lord knows its what you deserve at the very least. Your one of the real youtube legends Ace, hang in there.
There is a RU-vidr i watch called F.D.Signifier. one thing he does is change and make new thumbnails to older videos. He has shown screenshots of his own stats and the videos do better after the change. These videos are upwards of two years old, and the change makes them regain some traction in the algorithm. I dont know how this would do with your videos, since they are recordings of a game rather than an essay. Im not trying to be a backseat youtuber, i dont know what it is like. But if it might help i wanna at least not leave it unsaid. There is no shame in making a patreon or taking memberships or anything like that. You deserve money, your effort is worth something, and even though not everybody will donate, i dont see how anyone could blame you for it either. Also i counted 8 videos in my subscriptions that i wasnt notified about, in the last 14 hours. Do with that what you will.
Here is a tip, for getting not just Ace's videos but anyone's your subscribed too, when you're on RU-vid just go to your subscription tab, don't look at the home page or wait for notifications, if someone uploaded a video, it will be there with out fail.
