I agree, he is obviously someone who truly cares about other people. *Fact:* Chad Franke, said he truly believes Jodi is a lesbian and was in love with his mom. He did a stream and spoke about a lot of what he experienced. He believes that was one of the reasons Jodi isolated his mom from the family.

Like myself, was only able to have one but it was a miscarriage. Never was able to have one after that. I am now 51 and when I pass the family legacy will go away. It hurts me everyday. Hell I still want a child so bad.
negligence in allowing abuse to happen is not the same as actually committing it. Especially since much of the worst abuse happened at Jodi's house. I think he should be punished too but he clearly deserves a more lenient sentence than Jodi and Rudy.
As much as I agree that he was incredibly neglectful and at least partially responsible for what happened, it unfortunately doesn't rise to the level of criminal negligence. At the very least, it would be a lot harder to prove beyond a reasonable doubt compared to Ruby who literally journaled about the abuse. Kevin was super sneaky and manipulative and seemed to go out of his way to have plausible deniability about the situation. I agree that in a perfect world, he absolutely should be in prison though.
The young boy who went to the neighbors house had such deep wounds on his wrists and ankles likely to scar for the rest of his life. Absolutely horrific what these people were calling "parenting". Kevin should be locked up too I completely agree.

CPS is barely there to protect kids. They get used as weapons from pissed off family members, teachers, and neighbors. And once they get the kid OUT of the home, they often times stick them in HORRIBLE conditions, sometimes WORSE than the home they were in. People literally called CPS on an autistic child's parents, because he wasn't wearing socks in the winter. He couldn't wear socks, because of a sensory issue. What did they do? Take the kid out of the home for 6 days, until they decided the proof of his autism was authentic. When they got their son back, he was missing a tooth, because another kid in the home hit him in the face with a large toy, because he was snoring. CPS is HORRIFIC.
Right leave kids in situations like this and take them from loving homes just because the parents couldn't afford a lawyer and have slight mental health issues
Yeah, at the time that CPS got involved they weren't actually doing anything that could get the kids taken away, and whatever the videos suggested I wouldn't want to live in a society where someone could burst in and take my kids because I suggested it might be time to put the iPad down. Like there's a lot of grey area between 'satisfies RU-vid commenters' and 'chained up in a basement'. My parents were fairly strict and a lot of what they did would sound bad to RU-vid now but they did actually teach us what Kevin and Ruby wanted to teach their kids without the wilderness camps or sleeping on the floor. But equally, if you were going to take kids into care who happened to have parents like Kevin and Ruby before Jodie got involved, then you'd probably have a foster home meltdown. We also don't live in a Minority Report scenario -- you can't prosecute someone for something they haven't done yet, just like you can't use CPS as a prophylactic. It's what happened afterwards that rightly landed Ruby and Jodie in prison.

Ruby is not a victim. She was not brainwashed by Jodi either. She enjoyed torturing her children and knew exactly what she was doing. She's very manipulative and only cares about herself. That's why she threw Jodi under the bus without a second thought. She didn't snap out of anything. She did whatever she needed to do so she could get out of prison as soon as possible. That's why I've always been careful to not mention the ages, genders, names, etc. of my kids online. It's been uncomfortable at times, because I've even asked family members to remove pics of my kids at family events like weddings from their social media profiles. I also don't let my kids have any accounts of their own on social media. People say I'm overcautious, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I hate how her diaries read like she's writing a bible based off her life, making herself a missionary of God and whatnot. their kids have this "jokester tone" that I think they picked up to help them from being talked down by their mother to all their life. I am sure they had to toughen up at a very early age. makes me feel sad that they were having problems at school because it would be very hard to socialize in public when this is your home. I mean it makes sense that it’s been almost 10 months and Kevin still hasn’t been given the kids back! I think the state realizes he was definitely more involved or let it go on and didn’t help his kids for all those years. I think he should be charged with at least neglect but it goes a long way that he still hasn’t gotten custody of the 4 younger kids back yet! The state is for once doing something in the good interest of the kids.
I get a lot of crap from family for not posting my daughter's (3-years-old) face online. I'll post photos, but blur or block her face out. Considering how children cannot consent, I don't understand how they can post their families so freely.

I have a photography addiction, so family events get copies of the memory card for their devices. Friends get pictures from events as well, but with obvious rules. Sometimes I wish I could go back to the times of my youth before the internet.

Ok I'm confused. When Kevin is called to the police station to get his kids, and he's being interviewed, something doesn't seem right. First off, he sounds like a zombie, all monotone, no emotion at all. And secondly, he's saying he trusts Jody and he thinks what they are doing is a good thing, yet it's because of her and her "teachings" that he got kicked out of his home, his marriage is in such bad shape, and his kids have been abused instead of being disciplined in a healthy way. Lastly, he's simply handing over his hard earned money to his wife and Jody but he's not being allowed to know how that money is being spent, or to see his kids or even know how they are doing? I'd almost think he's been heavily brainwashed here. Because of Jody and her teachings, he's been pretty much erased from his family except for his money that he turns over to them each paycheck, yet what his wife and Jody are doing is a good thing and he trusts her? At the time when he's in the police station to get his kids, something is definitely not right with him. Just my own opinion though.

Firstly Ape such a thorough professional documentary. So sad but so beautifully done. You looked at all facets of this horrific abuse and handled it beautifully. I have never before seen such horrific child abuse physically and mentally played out before in the media to such an extent. What gets me besides all the obvious abuses which are money, is the way they talk about Chad being at the camp. They make it seem like it's a punishment when actually if you have to send your child away to get help that's exactly what it's for to help them. If I was doing a video about my son I had to send away because of behaviors I would say our son needed some extra help and there was this really fun camp that we sent him to so he could make friends and learn about accountability and work through some of his emotional issues. The motives were very clear and they came out very loudly in everything this so-called family did to these poor kids
