i stand by my opinion that yozora's theme, nachtflugel, is the greatest track in the series. it's something we've never seen before in a kingdom hearts game stylistically. there are no motifs or references to past themes; it's all brand new. everything about this boss is telling you "this is a challenge unlike that you have seen before, everything is different, now get bodied lmao"
there is a LOT of reference of past themes. One notable and obvious one is Dearly Beloved in Natchflugel. Natchflugel has G-F-G-C which is an arranged version of Dearly Beloved C-G-F. (Try to read the score cuz there are more) The only brand new thing about this music compared to past KH is that it feels more like a "realistic" concerto (modern society) since it is a "Fantasy based on Reality."
I was somewhat dissapointed with the difficulty balancing of kh3 while playing it blind but beating the data org and Yozora just made everything better. Kh3 has insanely good combat with a ton of depth but it dosent really get shown off until the superbosses.
I'm not sure about that. Kh3 is good because of the mobility. The combat is average. Base sora works weird with finishers not being finishers.combo modifiers are fluid unless sora starts with flash step. Flash step into quick slash looks kinda ugly and slow. Slow animation cycling. I hate that delay to when animations cycle. Samey ground and air combat. The finishers are unoriginal. They are the same in both ground and air except the standard finisher. All forms are useless(or just not viable and fluid when fighting data bosses) except second form ultimate form light, dark form and double form. Maybe nano arms too even though it has that slow punch move from which enemies escape easily. There is no combinations with the mechanics. Your options dont worl flyidly together. Changing keyblades is slow and kills the flow(unless you use item cancelling) using a link kills the flow and using a shotlock kills the flow even though its satisfying to pull off with some keyblades. The combat needs some work but im glad they at least improved from that junk called bbs and ddd. Also the animations need some more detail. Every animation is simple with a shit ton of effects. There should be more detailed animations with less effects that are snappier and faster. Why you think the improved movement mod is the most downloaded mod? And something significant for me at least. The sound design of the keyblade hits. i remember when i first played 3. The sound design was so weird.
Incredible video. The amount of detail and effort on describing the enigma that is Yozora on how well designed he is and how he is different compared to other KH Secret Bosses, and is my probably my favourite boss in the series so far. I’ll never forget the experience facing him on the first time on level 99 Crit and took me about a week to finish him.
Fantastic video. Readily agree on everything. Yozora is my favorite boss of all time as of now. It truly astounds and impresses me to no end. The bar being set here is wild.
@@rdc4461 Fr, I played KH3 first (big mistake, I know) and I thought the combat was pretty good and I just heard all over the internet that KH2 had superior combat... so I got the 1.5+2.5+2.8 collection and started playing through them in order and... yeah, I don't get the hype behind KH2's combat, sure it was innovative at the time when all you could compare it to was KH1 and a freaking card battle system (which I actually thought was pretty good) but KH3 is just better imo. This isn't even me just being a hater either, there were some moments where I genuinely enjoyed KH2 (the data fights come to mind) but out of all of the games in the series, it's definitely one of the worst imo. Heck, I like BBS more than KH2 because the different characters with different dodges and blocks meant that I was doing more than just blocking and waiting for my turn or just spamming the X button like I would do in KH2, BBS forces you to adapt to how you should play whilst for KH2, you can literally just spam one button or another and 9/10 times you'll just win any enemy encounter except for the superbosses but that just falls into my other dislike in KH2 combat in which you're just blocking and waiting for your turn and THEN spamming whatever move you want which gets even more braindead when you get reflect which allows you to block anything from anywhere, you don't even have to face your enemy, you get a ton more frames where you literally can't be hit and then you do insane damage if you block an attack on top of all that. Sorry about the long reply, I genuinely just don't get how KH2 fanboys don't see the issues in this combat system.
Wow, I actually learned stuff. Thanks for this! And you make your case very well. Water is actually a goat spell within KH3, it's no reflect but the protection and delayed projectile are awesome when you learn the feel of timing them. I knew about Water carrying with airstep but never knew about that use for the cone of draining!
Tbh, kh3 remind secret boss is actually really fun besides annoying even though he's hard not difficult but fun like data battles, Noctis is my favorite boss in kh3, i mean Sora, i mean Versus XIII Noctis, I MEAN YOZORA dammit lol
Easily my favorite secret boss fight in the series, next being either xemnas in kh1 or LW in kh2. I really do hope he's a playable character since at the start he said "I went through some trials" hopefully we see what he meant and also how he even got to the final world with sora to begin with.
Damn, this video is so detailed and good. Good job for making this video. Btw that music you played at the end of the video, that is very incredible to hear, my emotions are all over the place now :( , props to the composer Edit: Just tried to find the source, is that song a mashup you did by yourself? I want to find that song so badly
@@notsaxor Ok thankss I found it. It fits kh music's vibe so much that for a sec I thought it was a kh or ff song being remixed. Gosh that song is really epic
@@notsaxor Just curious, would you consider making a seperate video just for that small music section as a MAD/GMV video? Would love to see it as it's own thing
After spending an unnecessary amount of hours on this boss my only complaints are that he is too predictable(so predictable that a guy beat him blindfolded) and that(this goes for every data fight too) there is no freedom. They have attacks with very weird tracking that basically the whole fight is stand still block or didge. And glide of course for that steal move.
I think yozora is exempt from the "predictibality" argument. The other data fights 100% as they ALWAYS follow a strict pattern. but Yozora's predictability while, Yozora does follow pattern*s* they are varied to the point where the only way you can reasonably predict them is if you've spent as you put it- an unnecessary amount. I mention this in the video too. Albeit not as prominently as I should have. But you can feasibly predict all the other fights only after a couple of attempts. That's where the difference lies
