YPA Crisis Intervention 

In this TA call, we will be exploring how to support a youth through a mental health crisis. Mental health crisis is different for each youth, so we will be identifying several types of situations and how to effectively manage each. Youth Peer Advocates will develop an understanding of each stage of a crisis and ways that youth may respond to support during these stages. The strategies YPAs can use to provide support to a youth in a crisis are based on the techniques described in Youth Mental Health First Aid certification and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification. We will also be addressing common challenges YPAs may experience when providing crisis support and how to cope and overcome them. At the end of training, YPAs will have the confidence to provide support to a youth experiencing a crisis in an effective and safe manner.
