Mom Papa is notoriously enraged when he hears about emergency response workers. It’s pretty common knowledge. He seems to like people named Frank though.
[Peter laughs at his own joke but so does everyone else] is a *very* good caption, well done. Some quality caption work all around in this one, actually.
I don't know why but for some reason the idea of a YTP'D podcast is insanely more funny to me than just a standard YTP. Not having a visual somehow enhanced it. Great work as always.
i have an auditory processing disorder, so i can't really get into podcasts. the fact that this 8 minutes of pure sentence mixing is captioned makes it weirdly the most accessible podcast ive ever experienced
The best thing about a Podcast YTP must be that there's a lot less video editing because it's just audio, but because it's on youtube, you don't have to worry about adapting the credits and patreon crawl to audio. I'd make a no-effort november joke, but that's nowhere near accurate and I'm just happy we get 2 YTPs this month. Captions great as always.
I played this for my mother who loves wait wait, expecting confusion, and she got really annoyed because "I don't wanna hear the first part of one joke then the second half of another joke"
There's a kind of oddly specific type of joke that i just love that really only comes up in this and the Jeopardy's Tooth videos, which is Saying a trivia question, and then giving a completely nonsensical answer to it.
I really appreciate the reference at 3:11. It's so cool to me because it makes me think of references to recognizable works in like classical or jazz music. Just really feels like a YTP as art moment. (for anyone reading who doesn't understand, this is not a joke. "pooping as usual I see" is a play off of Dr. Robotnik's line in the Sonic the Hedgehog animated series that PINGAS comes from. originally it was "snooping as usual i see.")
"And the comedian behind the SuS on RU-vid, it’s DaThings." … "Hey everyone." I am almost surprised you didn’t make that joke. That would have been GOLDEN. This poop is still very well done.👍🏻
I've been a fan of the real _Wait Wait Don't Tell Me!_ for many years, so I'm glad to see it get the DaThings treatment… Makes me legit wonder why no YTPer has used public radio as a source 'til now. There's SO MUCH potential there!
Like others have said, it's called "Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me", airing almost-weekly out of Chicago and carried on most public radio stations (NPR or otherwise) including mine. Usually airs on Saturday mornings. Quiz show with comics. TL;DR -- It's an American thing.
Also, to anyone reading the pinned comment, listen to the Minutemen! Start with 'Double Nickels On the Dime' if you want a recommended starting point. Wonderful record.
Ah man, you know you're a YTP hall-of-famer when you're pooping Wait Don't Tell me. I did NOT see this one coming lol. Also the "YTP" logo in place of where the "NRP" one is supposed to be is a nice touch. Top shelf poop as usuaal, Ellie.
Dathings and Peter Sagal in the same video! My prayers have been answered. This is only comparable to the time Peter Sagal asked Elizabeth Warren about Fallout New Vegas. I am in total bliss RN.
Oh my god I never thought I'd see a Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me! YTP. This show makes me so nostalgic because my mom would play it every morning in the kitchen.
@@Emerald-Fluffie cs188 made a YTP of Tom's Diner, unfortunately the original was taken down but you should be able to find a re-upload of it somewhere

Now i would like to see someone make an animated version of this.
I was going to make some kind of snarky comment about how the edit sounded like Craig “Robin’s Egg” Robinson but I turned on the subtitles and you’d already beaten me to it lmao
We love you, robin’s egg ❤ you‘re a real hero to us, rolling in your roles! I‘ll never forget him playing that game that on the talkshow they were temporarily calling „it’s sick! It‘s ridiculous!“ 😍
0:08 and I'm thrown into flashbacks from 7 to 20 years ago. Since I was listening to the actual radio back then, I didn't recognize the thumbnail and the audio caught me waay off guard.
Jessica's "I'm ready to play" hit me like 3 tons of bricks, except the bricks are very friendly kittens that make me laugh really hard. god i love cats and DaThings
Dude imagine if there was a weekly hour and a half long podcast that was a ytp and it had hundreds of episodes I would listen the SHIT out of that podcast
Wow, hardest I've laughed at a YTP in years. Helps that I love Wait Wait, but l audio only poops have this uncanny valley where you almost think it's the real thing, were it not completely absurd. Excellent work
