I'm 32 years old and I still prefer play the old school way where you can't summon your whole goddamn deck in one turn

I remember when a turn didn’t take 1 damn year

2010: I play a face down defence monster and 2 face downs. 2019: I play this spell which let's me special summon my whole deck and tribute 2 to summon the almighty Ugandan knuckles who's ability let's me bring them back and shuffle my deck for no reason

As a magic player watching this, this doesn’t look fun. The guy who went first played so many cards and it just doesn’t feel right.

I sometimes play on dueling nexus (a yugioh website) I just set a monster and a few spell traps and then I have to go to do something else until my opponent finishes his 5 minute combo.

Wow modern yugioh looks ridiculous. I played from the beginning and quit around the time Legacy of Darkness came out in 2003. I had pretty much every card (not including weird tournament pack exclusives) up to that point. I have such fond memories of playing, going to tournaments, trading, hunting down 1st editions. I've often thought about getting back into over the years but this looks like an entirely different game.

Wtf is this? You can play your whole deck in one turn now? The guys turn takes more time than a whole yugioh episode lol. And then the game is over? What's fun about this? Used to love this game as a kid and felt a bit nostalgic. Now it's become shit and boring. Sad.

Lost interest after a 6 minute first turn

They summon that many cards per turn now because yugioh is now about them making as much money as they can by selling more cards. If they make the cards so their effects allow you to summon (or run through) 10-20 cards in your first turn, each card cost money. Hence, they make a lot more money now due to the card effects they choose to produce, as opposed to back in the day when there were only a few cards played per turn and yugioh was a completely different game. YUGIOH NOW IS A DISGRACE TO THE GAME OF DUEL MONSTERS DUE TO THE CARDS THEY NOW PRODUCE FOR PLAY. It went from a hard fought game of strategy to win, to now a six card hand with 30 card plays in the first turn to win without having to ever play a real match. Even if there is a match its now just a bunch of back and forth 5-15 minutes per turn per player to run through hundreds of dollars of cards each turn. YUGIOH GAMES START LIKE THIS NOWA DAYS, EACH DOLLAR AMOUNT REPRESENTS EACH CARD PLAYED ON ONE PLAYERS FIRST TURN OF THE DUEL AS FOLLOWS: 5$- 10$-5$-5$-5$5-$-5$-5$-10$-20$-3$-3$-$4-$-4$10$10$10$10$-15$-20$-25$-5-$-5$3$-3-$5-$5-5$ THEY ARE NOT PLAYING YUGIOH ANYMORE, THEY ARE PLAYING "MONEY, GEE, OH" I am a former top level yugioh upper deck tournament champion who has won many advanced upper deck tournaments and was the best player in my state (during my yugioh career before retirement) and beaten the number 1 players from other states in official tournaments as well. I have been playing yugioh for a solid decade and I know a lot about the game. I WAS THINKING ABOUT PLAYING YUGIOH COMPETITIVELY AGAIN, BUT AFTER WATCHING THESE VIDEOS ON HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED NOW, I HAVE NO INTEREST IN YUGIOH. SUMMONING 10-20 CARDS IN ONE TURN AND LAYING OUT CARDS WITH THREE DIFFERENT DECKS IS NOT YUGIOH. "THEY NEED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE GAME, AS IT HAS BEEN DILUTED DOWN TO A MONEY TRAIL OF CARDS"

It doesn't even look fun, it's like this one guy can win no matter what and he literally only needs 1 turn and the other guy can't do anything but watch for 5 hours some guy play solitaire. I much rather it was 'I summon a 2000 defense thing in defense position and put down trap hole... I mean... an innocent looking trap! YOUR TURN YUGI'

This is why I can't get into tournament level yugioh, and Magic to a lesser extend. I have no idea how players simply know all the effects of the opponent's cards. Like I literally spent months memorizing my Six Samurai deck to make it decent, and that's one of the easiest archtypes to master. I would not be able to keep up with a professional opponent at all lol

I just can't believe how many people enjoys this game while at the same time pretty much every video I watch has most of the comments talking shit about it LMAO I used to play yugioh in the early 2000s but I got bored of it so I left it, and last year I saw one of my friends playing duel links and he convinced me to try it... Man, I went from duel links to master duel and from master duel to the TCG and I'm loving this shit. It's pretty much a different game but imo it's way funnier than what I used to play. Granted, there are times when people pretty much play by themselves for 3 days straight, but at least in my experience it's not that often and tbh most of the time I have lots of fun playing it so it's not a big deal if once in a while a mf FTKs me lol
