Don’t know man, I literally climbed in one day and I faced a lot of pk (and I went through their board as you can clearly see from the replays), so that should be enough to take the luck out of the equation 🤔 The first thing you need to consider is that now the meta is changed again: agents, cyberse and infernobles make it so that you need to play the deck in a different way compared to the one you see in this video 🤓 Because that’s the point: fabled can be played in so many different ways, to adapt to the current meta, and in this video I showed how to play against that meta (that now is no more the current one) 🤔 Last but not least, I don’t know since how long you have been playing the deck, but one thing that’s sure is that it is the most difficult deck I ever played (too many combo lines, what you draw with ragin affects your follow up plays as well as what your opponent does during your plays), so maybe it could definitely be that you could need more experience with it 🤔 Did you actually see the full climb (there are the streams on the channel)? Are you playing the exact decklist shown in the video?

@@Paepp Oh yes, I've watched the duels. 12:50 You're opponent could've flattened you with their backrow. For some reason, they decided the smart thing to do was refuse to activate Ice Dragon's Prison, which normally stops this deck cold after they banish Kushano + another monster. Even with Lance, they would've either chosen another monster to banish (since you put 3 on field), or they would've chained Successor Soul to your lance target and destroy it. You won this duel because your opponent sat on his hands, not knowing that Trishula is a card. 15:23 Your opponent went into Felgrand for some reason. They could've used the same resources to go into Sanaphond, which would've bricked your deck with no recourse. You won this duel because your opponent didn't pay attention to the big pink text that said Contract: Fabled on it. That, or you ran into the one guy who didn't run a cheap rank 8 that outs over half the meta at that time. Now personally, I run Brionac in the deck, because the second Ragin never comes into play for me and I can put it onto the field via two normal summons, but even then Sanaphond + Crackdown + Successor couldn't be outed with it. 18:21 This is exactly what I mean when I say that the only advantage for Fabled is people not knowing how to play the deck. Your opponent decided to negate random things and never chain their traps. Even in circumstances where I open well, the average duel with a PK player for me goes like this: #1: Field spell gets blown up essentially for free, preventing the third Catsith effect. #2: They use Rebellion to negate the first Catsith effect. #3: They use Wings or Sword to protect Ophion from the second Catsith And now, I am out of cards. Experienced PK players play like this, because they know that fights against most decks are effectively a game of protecting Ophion, so they only negate the stuff that threatens Ophion. Cards like Sanaphond, Abyss Dweller, and Ophion are the reason why I main Chalice, and even then Sanaphond can still ruin me if they activate it on their turn (which most do). 21:50 This is a duel I think you actually won by your opponent not being a fool. Sky Strikers are like a roulette wheel, so whether they draw everything needed to out you or not is up in the air. I've had my Sky Strikers throw down a bunch of draw cards, blow nearly everything I have with After Burner and Jamming Wave, and then OTK with Shark Cannon or Widow Anchor + a normal summon. Again, my thesis here is that you got lucky. 26:00 It is a miracle that you found a no-skill generic dark magician player in Legend rank. This guy was a free win for anybody in the tier, and you happened to stumble upon him. 27:33 You won this duel because you opened what effectively is a dream hand for the deck, hard drawing the out to their plays as well several one-of combo pieces that let you search and establish a field without having to use your skills. It would be nice if I opened hands like that more often, but generally my opener for the deck is Kushano + Krus + 2 Cerburrel. Under normal circumstances, the skills aren't power enhancers, they're the bare necessities needed to get consistency going. 29:40 Your opponent failed at the basic concept of "protect the castle". They literally handled Ophion's lockdown for you. Again, they negate random things with no rhyme or reason, demonstrating that your victory came from the fact that they have no idea what they're doing. When I first started playing the deck, I saw some people try negating Kushano's recursion effect, too. It was funny, but I haven't seen that happen in a week. 33:08 Your opponent didn't read your cards. If they did, they would've known that you had searched and set treason so they wouldn't have set 3 cards and passed. They would've kept Successor Soul in Hand, so when you activate Treason they would've chained then fizzled treason, and after you blow lance to protect crystal wing they would've responded with traps next turn to prevent you from summoning Trish. I know this, because I've seen this type of play happen against me over and over again when facing the exact same deck. Though generally, when I'm facing Chroncle Decks, they usually have far more starting power than Normal Blue-eyes -> pass. As for my decklist, it looks an awful lot like yours. A few changes are I run 2 catsith instead of 2 krus (krus rarely comes up anyway), 2 stairway instead of 2 treason (stairway is consistent, treason is a brick), chalice instead of lance, and I have 3 Ganashia for the grind game for a 21 card deck. In the Extra I run Brionac instead of the second Ragin, Groza instead of Cyberse Quantom, and I have Quariongandrax instead of Black Rose. Essentially, minor tech choices and differences that amount to very little change in how the deck runs. The reason why I posted this big, lengthy comment is because I've seen this same cycle on nearly every Duel Links channel. A new deck will come out, a bunch of people will herald it as the best thing since sliced cheese, only for the players to eventually learn that it isn't nearly as good as all the Yugitubers said it was. The reality is this: Fabled is a difficult deck to make, it is a difficult deck to play, and the tech choices that's in every meta deck to out every other meta deck also outs Fabled. The reality of the deck is that plays with it are an uphill climb against odds stacked heavily against it. I made this deck for fun, and back before then I constantly clowned on the deck with all of my off-meta jank like Magical Muskets and Armed Dragon, because I knew to how to stop all their plays from going. People NEED to hear about the problems it has, and yet nobody seems to talk about it.

@Protocurity first thing first, thank you so much for taking the time of writing such a complete analysis of the duels and the video in general 🤓 If there’s one thing I’ve always said during the streams and the video, is that this deck is one of the hardest to play, so people know that, climbing with this never was, and never will be, easy 😪 Of course it’s not meta, otherwise you would have seen it in the tierlist on DLM, but it didn’t appear not even in the rogue section 😂 So when I say it’s good, it means that, of course if you learn to play it properly, it can lead you to kog for sure, especially in the last week of the month 😏 As you seem super experienced, I don’t feel like giving you suggestions on how to play better, so I’m just sorry you had a bad experience with it, and I guess I have to be thankful I was lucky during my run 🤔 But again, I do think that on the ladder this is a valid choice that can definitely bring you to kog 😏

I would try either clear wing lv7 or another lv8 (cause going first we usually go with crystal wing, but for an hypothetical following turn we have no lv8 to summon) 🤔 The best option to try are, imo, either cyber slash harpie lady (very nice against rank magic spells as you can bounce the target) or something like the hot red dragon archfiend (board clearer) or even the new lv8 we got in the mini (gyoza I think should be the name) 🤓

It’s just cause to make that amount of gems you’ll spend enough time thinking about what to get, so that the meta will settle before you spend all of them; otherwise if you spend gems every two days (each time you have, let’s say, 200) you start trying to build phantom knights but you end when phantom knights are not meta anymore, but you can’t change deck because you already spent some gems into that 😅 If you wait for the 10k gems, you are more likely to get all the cards you need for a deck in less time, starting from when you start spending them 🤓 Hope it made sense

I am looking forward to seeing your take on the next synchro deck fleur With an obvious excellent go 2nd (sauge and dark hole being op), even the go 1st is incredible. Indeed, a good lv 4 normal summon (aleister, condemned witch, traptrix myrmeleo,...) is a 1,5 card combo herald or crystal wing (lv 7 synchro wind with necro synchron then effect to spe from the deck a lv 1 tuner) However, my favourite is a nekroz build with manju/senju as a norm and the valkyrus engine to make herald effect truly horrendous and improve. Icing on the cake, playing rituals makes herald more valuable and valkyrus is a spellcaster with 2900 atk, to decrease the amount of bricks in the deck. I hope this will give you ideas ;)
