I think this race was the best showcase of RNG based runs. Sky showing what happens when things goes well, and Keiz is how when things goes to all hell.

The meme, the legend, the game Forbidden Memories finally making a showing at gdq, and what a good showing it was. It was a good idea having a race with the 15 card mod to showcase just how hard the game can play keepaway with drops if it wants to. Great commentary too. An excellent watch.

This was an amazing run. Weirdly makes me want to play this game despite it seeming objectively unfriendly.

This run was amazing, shoutouts to all the crew for this! And I can't get leave it without a big THANK YOU for Sky, who was the first person I've watched playing this mod. During her run, she taught everything I needed to know to do my own runs (like Pegasus farming requirements, Meadow Mage farming, turning Final 7 into Final 6...) and after that I couldn't stop playing the modded versions. She brought back to me all childhood memories I had from Yu-Gi-Oh FM and helped me see the ending of a game I loved so much back in the day. Sky, you're the best!

What an absolutely unbelievable run in so many ways. I don't think there's been a single run I've ever laughed in awe at as much as this one.

This race was HYPE!!! I may have missed the stream, but both runners and the commentary are absolutely superb. I don't know why, but I'd rather watch these marathon speedruns and races than I would watch a movie, this shit's great.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of y'all running Forbidden Memories. When I was younger my mom got me this game, but we didn't have the money for a memory card. Imagine the frustration of playing, first having to learn you're supposed to lose that game to Heishin, and then managing to get through back to Egypt.. and then losing and having to start over from the start because you have no saves hahah.

Being a part of GDQ Hotfix was a thrill for FM. Seeing it again for GDQ Hotfix with spike and pie was amazing. Sky crushing this game for Flame Fatales was incredible. Seeing this game get destroyed live at AGDQ was something special and to see how this game has progressed, is unbelievable. Congratulations to both runners for putting on a great show for the chat, and doing it all for a great cause. As an experienced FM runner of 6 years, I'm happy to see this game get into a major marathon like this and even got a shoutout as well (feeding my ego lol). But that said, I hope everyone enjoyed the run!

This game is so fucking weird. This is the one where monsters fuse without poly right? It felt like a fever dream trying to remember if this game was real or not.

Lol I remember the Yu-gi-oh GBA game right before this one. It was so easy and short that EVERYONE complained about it. So, when they released Forbidden Memories as the next installment, they made it so hard to the point that the AI actually cheated and most people never made it 1/4 of the way through the game. lmao

It's really great that people still play this game, and have fun with it

I am so glad I saw this randomly. I loved this game as a kid even though I had no clue what I was doing lol. Incredible runs by both the runners :)

The composer for this game also did the soundtrack for Duelists of the Roses, which is just as much if not more of a bop.

Was never able to beat this game, but the music are some of my favorite jams to this day. Loved this run: Nuke, Spike, Keize, & Sky were so much fun to watch~

I forgot about this game, still my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh game I've played. Never beat it but a ton of nostalgia for me.

To give people a bigger sample size: I started my first run of the game, following what they did - I had to beat Meadow Mage 25 times to get ONE MBD, I got 4 trents, 1 toon gator and an arm of the forbidden one. I got a campaign widespread ruin and ATH though. Edit: Oh and Pegasus gave a double megamorph on the 3rd SA tech Edit2: Beat the game, no enemy ever played blue eyes ultimate.

Never before has a speed run entertained me and convinced me to never want to play a game at the same time. Good work to both runners on a fun showing.

Forbidden Memories wasn't made at the same time as the card game, sort of. It was made after Yugioh Duel Monsters on the GB, which predates the currently extant Yugioh trading card game (of which there have been at least three, there is a reason the Japanese release stresses that it is an Official Card Game), and runs on that game's rules with minor adjustments. The original rules of the card game ran on a similar version of these rules, but within a year it got changed to what most people would recognize as Yugioh's real rules (we never got that part in the TCG because it was all in Series 1). This shift notably happened around the time the manga hit Battle City, which is why in that arc they suddenly pivot to a ruleset that's mostly like the real one after a good bit of "barebones version of MtG" and an entire Duelist Kingdom arc of "mediocre Moncolle." That's why most of the Yugioh games had nonsense rules up through the early aughts - they're based on a video game that predated Yugioh, the card game you recognize, based on Yugioh, the manga, but with a bunch of changes.

I’m kinda surprised that the star chips don’t get used more. I use to play this game and the codes you can turn in are based on how good the card is in real life and there is a bug dude with 2300 attack, the real card makes you flip a coin to be able to attack, if you lose the flip you lose half your Hp, which makes the card terrible but for this game you can get 3 copies of them for like 15 star chips. Edit: I should say, I just mean I’m surprised they don’t stack their early deck with some very cheap midrange monsters.

Got some thunder and dragons for twin - headed thunder dragon and some power ups including two megamorph because I was tired of continously a-teching Pegasus; with some tries (not too many, fortunately) I managed to beat the game

5:28 the soundtrack always make me nostalgic...
