in season 4 judai finally earned the right to have a ridiculously out-flaring jacket just like every other yugioh protagonist. good for him. too bad he was having an existential crisis through the whole season
Yeah too bad, he has only been playing the game that gave him fun in a literal mode 'life or death' for almost the last three years. Why would he go through a crisis?
Yugi and Yusei are the only other protagonists with flared coat tails. Like maybe also Yuya, but you pretty much never see him actually where his jacket normally so it's hard to tell.
I love how the GX Openings almost tell a story with their tone. First OP is upbeat and high energy. Our first time at Duel Academy. Then the energy drops in the second OP, and things start to mellow out. The third is somber, almost depressing. Literally titled TEARDROP. We've been hit with tragedy, and things aren't going so well. Finally, there's this OP, where everything has seemingly fallen apart. Our precious time, our glory days are behind us. BUT. We're gonna keep holding on.
Not really... Precious Time - Glory Days meaning in this song is that our heroes are recatching them, one last time before the end - when they graduate to their dreams... -
He's not depressed. He's more so become more reclusive and cynical. Not necessarily out of depression, but out of confusion and fear. He was depressed after losing to Edo in Season 2, but not here.
There's also Season 3, which he became the Supreme King, and was completely traumatized to the point where he couldn't use his Polymerization card without having a PTSD episode.
Stupid bastard, now I have to make a meme out of this. As for Jaden, he was sort of a soldier in my point of view: forced to duel for the fate of the world, only for his friends to invite themselves to the party in searching for Jesse. I get the whole friendship thing, but they didn't have to be total dickheads about the deaths. I know it sounds insensitive, but both sides must be taken into account. Maybe, just maybe if they had helped Jaden deal with the loss, he might have avoided becoming the Supreme King. As for Season 4, we see Jaden not being able to enjoy dueling due to the fact that it got his friends killed, and also because of the atrocities that happened during his time as the Supreme King. All in all, PTSD, a temporary fear of Polymerization, and a lack of joy when it came to dueling.
Right? It’s surprising to see that kind of development for a character. Compare seasons 1-2 Judai with 3-4 Judai! They’re hardly even the same character anymore
Season 1 Jaden was my favorite. He was a lovable loser with confidence and drive. Season 3 things just got wierd with Yubel being a whole man on love with him
I think this is my favorite GX opening. Judai is definitely a lot more serious and sometimes to the point of isolating himself from his friends. I'm really glad that by the time of the movie, he's back to the old cheerful self he once was, but he does retain some of his seriousness and maturity from the 4th season.
+Moustapha Ahmed I hate all of Season 3 and 4 (well...maybe except this moment where Sy and Zane make up...and this song of course...I love it) and this whole deal with Judai in both Seasons was the entire reason I almost quit watching GX! I only watch Season 1 and 2 and dream up my own continuations after this...
Man, Judai changed so much this season, and it’s definitely for the better. In the last seasons he was always there to fix peoples problems and we see that Judai gets anxious when he isn’t helping, like when Johan is fighting that duel spirit catcher or whatever in the Dark Dimension. This season he’s just like “Go sort your own shit out, I’m busy brooding” and it’s just so cool to see this kind of character development.
I don't think it was for the better, of course, he is not naive anymore butJaden at this point is depressed and doesn't enjoy dueling, that's why Yugi tries to bring joy back to him.
With 90% of the comments talking about how Jaden "had depression" this season, allow me to chime in with my experience. As someone who has struggled with depression in the past, I can honestly say that when I was at my worst, I felt the most like Jaden in season 2 after he lost to Aster (i.e., defeated/unenthusiastic/a constant feeling-of-worthlessness). But interestingly, I do see similarities between Jaden's behavior in season 4 and how I acted after I made my depression known to others and started getting treatment for it. Specifically I began caring a little bit more about my life, but nowhere near as much as I should have. However, much like Jaden this season, my status in that regard has improved with time and experiences.
Uzumaki Kasoha actually zexal wasn't that bad too the reason I didn't like it at first was that the first 3 were hyper great while he was only super good then to be fair Yu-Gi-Oh Arc v epic moments : ru-vid.com/group/PLJaEGC34Jrdw95PT5Ft5DDevrlj0ZRWyj Those are the moments that I liked from arc v then arc v turned into a total circus
Le noble prince I didn't finish zexal so I can't give a proper judgment about it, the only thing I didn't like about Arc-v is that it seemed like they were trying so hard to make it the next Gx which was stupid because both had ideas of their own, however the story was interesting the characters were well written and we saw some good new cards. I personally found it hard to consider the new protagonists strong or sometimes even interesting because they have new summons that the original and Gx didn't have, I sometimes ended having a hard time to take in a new summon but I'm getting used to it and I'm most likely the only person that think that way. Speaking of which, did you watch Vrains yet? "I'm not sure if a spelt it correctly"
Uzumaki Kasoha I think we totally disagree about Arc v as for me arc v was a total trash stupid characters,op cards,a lot of fan service, many plot holes,a lot of childish things, action cards, ruining old characters from other series, false hopes......very long list Well I'd devise it this way DM:coolness GX:badassness 5ds:hype Zexal:epic Arc v:shame and a lot of false hopes and a huge giant wasted potentiel. I didn't see much of v rains only 5 episodes but the thing I liked about it so far is that it had finally a mature cool protaganist after two seasons with childish ones yuma and yuya, also he is 16 and smart, pretty nice except the hair, don't use op cards,he has many skills and uses logic pretty much like yusei And what I enjoyed most about vrains is that it's the first yugioh series ever not to put a duel in the first episode which means unlike arc v they were concentraiting on the plot rather than trying to produce as much cards as possible
Judai/jaden is probably the most relatable character out of all the yugioh characters and i think thats why so many people love him, he starts off as a happy energetic guy who just loves dueling, flashfoward 2 years he has a very cynical outlook on life due what hes been through and realises life isnt all sunshine and rainbows and im pretty sure everyone can somewhat relate to this
He's glad to kick some ass? He always was the more joyful/joking hero monsters, his main art had him smiling, he's got the more silly? Spells. Neo Bubbleman is quite a deal more serious though
And all it took was transferring into 2 different dimension s, watch his friends get killed left and right. Proceed to get blamed for it get taken over by his past self, have more of his friends sacrifice themselves to bring back to prevent him from killing off the rest of the people. Watch the rest of friends die off even more and then merge his soul with his bdsm demon girlfriend that got him in this situation in the first place.

And, here I am. Back again! And I still love this opening so much. Precious time Glory Days is just such an amazing song ❤. And GX will always have a special place in my heart. Still my favorite series to this day
@@narutoninjagoandtheflashar4256 I remember seeing the original season 3 end with only 1 more episode left of GX back in 2008 on Kids WB. I was confused af on why they’d skip it and go straight into 5Ds too fast. That’s when I found Season 4 like in 2013-14 and was like “There was another season???”
@@kinggoku209Yep and I don’t think they ever will sadly. It’s been too long and too much time has passed. At least the 4th Season in Japanese is awesome. :)
GX is so underrated. All the buildup until season 3 and 4 makes them so much better. Especially the duel with Darkness is one of the best in the entire franchise
Yuki Judai/ Jaden Yuki, was honestly that or more likely is the only main character that the writers of the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise decided to beat down and emotionally numb him more than any other main character I’ve seen. I mean come on, watching all his friends die right before him from time to time. Having his school being attacked by darkness every now and then, and not only that he was also forced into a leadership role that he clearly didn’t want to be in by his friends and his peers because of his great dueling skills. Ultimately, all these events led him to mature into an adult at a much faster rate in season 4. So that being said, In my opinion, once again I repeat “in my opinion” because I don’t want to piss off any hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh fans on the internet, that Yuki Judai for me is the best Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist of all time.
Season 4 is the season that redeems Jaden as a character. You know how Yugi had Yami/Atem as his persona since the beginning? Well, he only got it in the form of Yubel by the final and fourth season. Also, a lot of the other characters are fleshed out more
Hands down the best Yugioh opening for me! I listen to it daily! Also I really like that you can see Judai's character growth just by watching he first opening to this one :3
Yeah it really is the best opening of GX. I love Precious time glory days. Fact: I’m literally going through depression right now because of an anime, but I feel a little better if I listen to this ❤️
Guys, don't even waste your time with a 4 kids dub of the 4th season, they cant do it without butchering it to oblivion. If we do get a dub it will only bring anger because of the dark themes present in season 4 that 4 kids cant bring due to their adolescent viewers that they usually cater to. Its the same with one piece 4kids got their right taken away due to the producers literally hating what they did to it.(ex taking all the blood and emotion out of it). please if you want a 4th season just watch it subbed its a better story and experience over all hell watch the entire series over and actually UNDERSTAND THE ORIGINAL PLOT that 4kids ripped out. (go watch the sub vs dub videos you will know what I mean)
@116663785544941990334 yeah, what they were going for the DARKNESS theme of the season in general is actually really interesting and even kind of deep not only as a "duelist" or the game point of view but surprisingly applies to LIFE as well (the darkness in our hearths may consume us all)... and they may somehow butcher the hell of that feeling if they try to dub it though
4Kids doesn't exist any more. 4K is a separate entity functioning under Konami that has absorbed the rights to the series after 4Kids went bankrupt. Excessive censorship should no longer be an issue. That being the case, I say bring on a dubbed 4th season. Having the english character names makes a big difference.
+RevolvingWorld never compare Nightshroud to Bandit Bakura, no one is as cool or evil like bakura besides Marik, Nightshroud was a mediocre duelist who lost every battle!!!!!!
Cheezy Cakes I believe they were not comparing but simply say that night shroud was one of the most intimidating thing In gx not that he was the MOST intimidating over all
Because it repeatedly blasts one of the most annoying yugioh catchphrases ever. I like Jaden, but everytime I hear "Get your game on!", it makes me want to get my strangle on.And I like the dub, but hate that intro.
The fact the official yugioh channel which is English I believe is acknowledged the Japanese version makes me wonder why we didn't get those missing yugioh episodes dubbed heck why we didn't get more uncut yugioh??
*now I see why they didn't want to dub this. Jaden's life is really disturbingly depressing. Makes it harder that he has to fight evil and be depressed*
They literally dubbed the supreme king commiting genocide and jaden going through ptsd and depression. They might as well could have dubbed him being this serious too. but nay, they just had to start dubbing 5ds early xD

Man Id buy english subbed GX on dvd in a heartbeat from 4k media.....no scratch that I'd buy every yugioh series from 4k media if they were english subbed on dvd. Were so close its been years without any acknowledgement of the real yugioh. Sure the original dub of DM was good and nostalgic for me and I own it but once you know about the japanese the edited dub only lasts for so long.
imagine if 4kids did dub this season tho. get your game on plays right before you see jaden fighting the embodiment of darkness who's currently assimilating jaden's friends into his world by forcing them to watch their life's ambition be crushed over and over until they lose the will to live. the absolute whiplash that'd be.
I love gx this show is so dark if u dont win this person dies, if u dont win ur whole school is trapped and if u dont win the whole world will be drowned in darkness
Jaden/Judai is easily the most developed Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist. I love his character arc. And this is easily one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! OPs and one of my fav anime OPs of all time.
Bruh I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but for some reason when growing up as a kid watching yugioh and then GX I was more interested in Jaden more then yigi why because I saw how he was actually using different card combinations and the fact that it introduced to knew elemental Heroes and the fact he was with yubel and the supreme king 👑 fused and how it was getting darker in the series he was more serious about the duels he would manipulate he’s deck almost to draw the best card every turn to turn the duel around and around against the enemy idk some how I prefer jaden over yugi. Plus the theme in 🇯🇵 is dope and the US broadcast version it was nice as fuck
English Translation: Never forget, your first dream. Keep up the chase! Keep holding on! A deserted promise, I couldn't reach out for, A Broken Dream, that I almost gave up on. Something I genuinely don’t understand is why they don’t go back and redub GX, or go back and redub all the old series, Kai Style with the Dub Voices. Team up with Funimation or Viz if ya have to.
@@narutoninjagoandtheflashar4256 Haou was originally a part of him. He couldn’t avoid it any other way. It’s after the fusion between him and Yubel did things get dark.
@@xnightshroud841 but I don’t think Judai would’ve been able to awaken Haou if he wasn’t broken (at least that’s what was shown in the anime). Could’ve been different in the manga
I love how we went from “The mean teacher is trying to get me expelled” and “The fat kid has daddy issues” and “Stop bad guys from getting the evil trading cards” to “Use the power of the alien friends of your own creation and the demon inside of you that once tried to kill everyone you know and love to defeat the literal personification of darkness, otherwise he’ll assimilate every living thing into his world by psychologically torturing them until they completely lose the will to live.”
S4 is so creepy and i love it... cause that's kind of realistic as well - Darkness in us and Depression - It's also inspiring as well. - JADEN saved people as a true Hero, freeding us from Darkness and stuff -
@@narutoninjagoandtheflashar4256 no. Season 4s main villain is a guy who literally was created by the negative emotions of all the humans on the planet and was brainwashing people into doing his bidding by torturing them until they gave in
