It's funny how the Paradox Bros biggest achievement was DUELING Yugi. Like, they didn't win or anything, they just dueled him once and that granted them legendary status.
Like, that has to be a rule somewhere. Like “Rule 420: if a person with questionable morals/protagonist starts a monologue, he/she must explain every single card effect that happens while speaking.
Very cool how they updated the Paradox Brothers' decks with cards that really do seem perfect for the GX format of tag dueling, such as Dark Designator, Defense Wall and double tributers. Really makes them seem like professional tag duel mercenaries.
Season 1 truly was the peak of GX. Every duel Jaden won resulted in him becoming the most well renowned duelist at the academy. Hell the whole purpose of them wanting to tear down Slifer Red was because Jaden was the only prospect to come from that dorm There were multiple occasions where Bastion was like "You belong in Ra Yellow. Blue will never accept you even tho you duel on par with anyone from Blue." It really says something when the only Obelisk Blue student capable of actually beating you in a duel has plot armor that rivals your own.
@@naoki-kashima2635Cydra is definitely the best deck you could use in anime. It can OTK even from bricked hands due to the 4k LP, OG cydra has slight effect buff, and has no trouble breaking boards due to the anime not having protection on their cards.
You know each time Crowler/Cronos has attempted to get Jaden/Judai expelled from the Academy in a way he's just been helping him become a stronger duelist
I’m surprised he wasn’t caught and fired for literally framing them both, putting them against experienced duelists like the Paradox Bros, and then he just gets away with it. Crowler’s a complete creep

This episode marks the return of Paradox Brothers. Not counting Yugi's brief cameo in the first episode, this marks the first appearance of any of the characters from the original anime in this one. In the original series, they worked for Maximilian Pegasus and battled Yugi and Joey Wheeler during the Duelist Kingdom arc and almost won thanks to their very unique usage of their very unique card, which I am not going to disclose as they might use it in this or the next episode.
Alexis is right, as good and skilled as Jaden is he can’t win this duel by himself. He needs Syrus’ help but Syrus is too afraid and anxious to fight them back
Syrus must believe in his self and trust the heart of the cards to duel well and help jaden! Because of their friendship he gets stronger and he'll do it!
I always thought the threat to disqualify Jaden was weird. The previous player's turn had JUST ended, and they are suddenly threatening to disqualify him for not making a move. What, does he have to play a card the very second the previous player's turn ends?

In the non-dub they are literally named the Labyrinth Brothers, it's written on their foreheads even! The real "Paradox" is how Labyrinth Wall never shows up in this episode.

In the dub, the paradox brothers last duel was with Joey and Yugi. However if you watch the sub, at the end, in China the paradox brothers last duel was Mai and Vivian.

"Ridiculously unfair" is pretty accurate, since Jaden and Syrus would basically be dueling older, more experienced versions of themselves. Oh, and before anyone asks if Jaden is Yugi and Syrus is Joey, it's actually the other way round. Jaden is Joey if he'd been dueling since he was a kid. Syrus is Yugi if he wasn't the reincarnation of a magically gifted Pharaoh.
I honestly think the Paradox brothers aren't bad people they seem like they'd chill out drink some tea and talk deck strats and the whole rhyming thing is just a bit they like doing.
I always liked syrus when i first saw GX as a kid. He still is my favorite character because his development was pretty good. From a nervous scaredy little kid to a confident strong duelist 😊

@@carlossoto1715 Probably they’re based on Japanese Kami. In Japanese Folklore Kami are essentially the “gods” of Japan. But they’re not really gods they’re actually just something that anyone in Japan worshipped if they deemed something worthy of worshipping. As for where the Demonic part comes in I believe it derives from the flip side of the Kami in Japanese Folklore which many would deem as “demons”: these beings called “Yokai”. In Japanese folklore Yokai we’re used as explanations by the ancient Japanese for unfamiliar phenomena that they fund the explain. And in that same Folklore the Kami and The Yokai were actually the same entires. Neither being good nor evil just the personifications of nature. And how they were differeciented were they worshipped or not. If people worshiped those spirits they would be deemed as “Kami” But for those who weren’t worshipped they were deemed as “Yokai”. They are essentially two sides of the same coin. And when translating them they are usually interpreted as “Gods” and “demons” respectively. But when really trying to accurately translate them when knowing Japanese mythology you can call them “Demonic deities”. That being Kami and Yokai being the same entities with the difference between them depending on how they were worshipped or weren’t worshipped. This is the best explanation I can give you but if you want an even more in-depth and easier to understand explanation I suggest you watch Gaijin Goombah’s content on the stuff. They a channel that dedicates themselves to explaining anything that has any remote connections to Japanese mythology and folklore.
You would think at some point, that someone would go up to the principal and be like "what kind of clown show are you running here? You've got a teacher that openly has it out for a student, even going as far as to hire the equivalent of mercenaries specifically to get this kid who has his tuition paid up and has only been here for two weeks, expelled." I think the GX equivalent of the department of education would be interested to hear what's going on at duel academy

Why is Alexis being so rude through out this whole episode? Im referring to how she keeps being mean to the guy in yellow that she's sitting next to. She keeps telling him to be quiet during the duel multiple times, but his dialog is completely normal for Yugioh characters who are watching a match? .. What the hell is her problem? No one invited her over, she chose to sit down next to him at 3:40 .. but she's acting as if he's the one who sat down next to her and is being annoying.
Even if what you say is true, you need to remember that Alexis feels responsible for Jaden and Syrus' current predicament, so for her, Bastion's brutal honesty is just rubbing salt in the wound. Yeah, you could argue that it's not her fault but she _feels_ like it is, and sadly it's perfectly in character for Alexis to blame herself for something like this.

@@Goblin_Hands I'm more upset with how the main objective in modern Yu-gi-oh is to have five monsters on your field on turn one and then try to win on turn three. That, and every single deck having a ton of expensive hand-traps. But that's not entirely Konami's fault, I don't think.
Syrus made a mistake in summoning Steam Gyroid. He could have actually summoned Steam Gyroid without placing Steamroid on the field first, and then he could have summoned another monster after that.

Yet Alexis disagrees to what Bastion said by saying "No. This is just the beginning." 13:29 Cut from Dub is that The Paradox Brothers said that all the monsters are assembled so they'll show Jaden and Syrus their ultimate monster. Then Crowler thoughts said "Ultimate --" which he noticed Chancellor is close to him and then told Chancellor to get back to where he was sitting and Chancellor said he wants to see the duel closer but Crowler denied the Chancellor not to. Then Chancellor react to Crowler "Stingy"

Alexis getting annoyed at Bastion is cool since a lot of shonen anime use the sideline characters to explain obvious stuff. Breaking the cliche by having a normal person react to the useless commentary
Kinda ironic they tributed 3 lv 7 monsters, that would be (even in the anime) be more useful on their own for a 3750 beatstick with no effects..., they might have won the duel if they didn't use that terrible gate guardian...
This is kinda a parallel between Joey/Yugi & Syrus/Jaden. Joey was still a noob and upping his game, doubted himself..same with Syrus & it just so happen to come when the paradox brothers dueled
Those are super old rules from 2005/6. Your teammate couldn't attack with your monster. It's just like in the Legend of Blue-Eyes set, where fusion monsters needed to wait a turn before attacking due to summoning sickness.
this is the ep that makes it clear that gx has to be taking place around the same time as the original prob around zigfried arc or near the end of Dartz because these guys aint old and we seen atem and kaiba make appearances
