Simon's deck is actually based off a popular OCG deck at the time called Highlander. Meaning you only one copy of each card in the deck. Not necessary all limited or semi-limited cards, as even cards that are three are only played at one copy in a highlander deck. These types of decks are known for bricking despite their huge power output. Simon originally plays Chaos decks, but Chaos Sorcerer is banned in Tag Force 2 and 3, and doesn't come back until the 5Ds era.
Your manifesting of the cards from thin air was incredible when you pulled it back to back during the Pack Opening, and the best part was you didnt even noticed the second time. Coop : " gimme a super rare (gets meanae the thorn) , not that , the shogun stuff (gets a shogun card but the game said on my own terms and gives you total defense shogun ) 😂.
Despite Simon beating you today: how the mighty have fallen. I remember TF1 Simon easily being the strongest of the Obelisk Blue Boys, only slightly weaker than the NPC Teachers and the Big Three of the Obelisk Blue Girls (Masha, Disa, and Jewels), and only slightly stronger than Yuma, Kami, and Wisteria. Now, I'd say TF2 Simon is worse than all of their decks except for maybe earlygame Kami, but then Bright also lapped him in TF2. Banning Chaos Sorcerer caused him to lose a lot of his power, but that's the thing about pre-Gladiator Beast Yugioh: you could get really far with pretty much any decent deck, especially in the video games, just by having the best Limited/Semi-Limited cards. So even Simon's badly nerfed deck stands a good chance of stomping earlygame.
