Hey man, lotta doom & gloom about atm & this is a really nice idea to keep us entertained whilst in lockdown! I was a bit younger than you when these sets first came out but had a ton of these cards & it reminds me of much simpler times seeing you talk through them all. Looking forward to the rest of them!
Love the binder videos. I’m currently putting together my LOB reprint binder while watching this. Show us more for sure! Looking forward to it! Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for this video man. I remember opening up a unlimited box with my dad. I pulled an Exodia head and Blue Eyes. Great memories, I can still see the living room now with small piles of cards acorss the carpet. That is where the heart of the cards began for me. Awesome video!
This set is also iconic for me. LOB was the very first booster ive ever purchased and i got Monster Reborn. At first i didnt appreciate the card because starter decks came with Monster Reborn and i didnt know that Holos were actually that rare even then. But after the time its the card that has always stayed in my deck. Eventually ended up being my all time favorite card. While i usually say that the Japanese art is superior. Monster Reborn and Tragedy are way superior in the western artwork. And everyone wanted to pull Blue Eyes and Raigeki :P Great video!
What was nice back in the day, was even though maybe a Red Eyes has worse stats, we ran it anyway because that’s what we had.. it was more like the anime where you build your deck with not all cards available that are the best.
I’ve started recollecting yugioh and I’m surprise with how cheap some of those cards are. Like I bought a secret rare Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon for like 2 bucks and a lot of crazy powerful cards go for 25 cents and 50 cents.
I was watching another video where a guy said he didnt know why injection fairy lily was on the ban list. These type of videos are nice for the newer generations who have not played the original formats.
I love how the supers looked back then. They've got a certain swagger and mystique to them. Also something else with swagger is the fact that your whole binder is 1st ed. Stunning.
when I see this set, The thing that reminds me is Yu-Gi-Oh The Power of Chaos PC game , back then I don't have money to buy cards, most of my friends got money so.. but I'm able to own pirate copy of games..My only way to learn Yu-Gi-Oh back then.. Good times.
Fun fact about the original wording on the first Polymerization prints. The modern text reads: Fusion Summon one Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as fusion material. The original card text reads: Fuses 2 or more Fusion Material Monsters to form a new Fusion Monster. The funny thing about the original card text, is that it doesn't specifically state that it counts as a fusion summon, and later on in the Game of YU-GI-OH, many Fusion cards state that they have to be properly fusion summoned, and cannot be special summoned in any other way. And technically, you can use the original card, but I don't know if you can legally use that card in a tournament, depending on how that tournament's rulings go for cards. All considering, that it doesn't state that it performs a "Fusion Summon,: just thought I would throw that piece of YU-GI-OH trivia your way! Sincerely, k0ngbuster
Nice video OldSchool!! Glad you posted today and that you’re safe bro as well as others out here 🙏🏾 I notice off one of your videos that you are or was in the air force was wondering if you’re still in. I’m currently in the army and was just wondering. God bless and stay safe
Beautiful binder...i try to get the whole collection of the cards whitch are in the game Yugio Forbidden Memories. Would be great to see those binders from other nostalgic sets! :)
This set is nostalgic to me like the original 150 Pokémon. I’ll never forget wanting to pull a Raigeki so bad, managing to pull a monster reborn (not wanting it because I had one from a starter deck) and a left leg which I didn’t want either lol. Never did manage to get a raigeki
Memories and Nostalgia 10 out of 10! Thanks for sharing. Random question: I had my childhood collection stolen from me recently and I want to start building back my LOB collection. Should I collect 1st edition or unlimited? Most of my original collection was unlimited but I did have a Blue Eyes 1st edition, which I'm heart broken about. However, I won't be building this collection for resale/money, strictly for the memories and nostalgia. Thoughts?
LOB turned 20 this year. 1:57 Charubin became much more useful later on during Goat format. I liked Morphing Sangan into him to get Sinister Serpent into my hand.
I'm a casual Yugioher since like 2003, I go in and out, and I always tough shortprint meant a card that is print in a set and not reprinted in another set after, I never taught it had something to do with the ods of pulling them
In a world where there was nothing except LOB for players to utilise I imagine using those fusion monsters was quite fun even if they were weak. I don’t want to sound like a hipster but the game was so much better back in the early days. It was just so much simpler.
I remember pulling all the exodia pieces after months of searching I was juiced when I finally pulled the last piece which was the head from a vending machine for 1$ 🔥
I have a complete set too but, since I live in the UK, it's LOB-E. I don't really understand why they removed some of the cards and added them to the MRL-E release. It's just weird, especially since Pale Beast was in both MRL-E and MRD. I'd love to know why Konami/Upper Deck did this!
This reminds me of what SMPratte is doing with the Pokemon sets. Do you plan on doing these in set order or release order with things like the Tournament Packs included?
I really wish I played yugioh back then actually no I wish I was alive back then during that time of yugioh now I’m lucky because I could get a lot of old school cards on Amazon for less than a dollar
Hey Old School Expert,Hope you are doing well amidst this global predicament we find ourselves in. First, I would like to appreciate the videos you do which reignited my passion for Yugioh cards. Secondly, I have a slight enquiry/request. I am a huge sucker for nostaligic, classic Yugioh cards and to add some to my collection, I wanted some information. Since I live in Pakistan and there exists virtually no shop that sells cards, could you guide me how one can have Yugioh cards delivered from the USA to Pakistan at a convenient rate while being reliable? I know a lot of sites offer international shipping but do you know of a hidden gem or do you yourself offer a service where you sell classic cards and ship them at a standard rate? Would really appreciate your input on this.
I like to add nostalgia into today’s games by starting the game off with one of the random original field spells. I hav a full lob 1st mint exodia set but no idea if they’re wavy or the other version 😂
I’ve always wondered this but do you know why Flower Wolf (from LOB) is the only fusion monster to list the word “Fusion:” in the text box before the fusion materials?
Im trying to find a legit price for a complete almost near mint set minus a couple of my ultras not being minty. Red eyes and dark magician and gaia the fierce knight are all flawed in some degree. The rest I personally pulled long time ago as I too started playing during LOB and the starter deck days. Those were the simplistic times in the game for sure. I still have some retro decks from LOB-Starter era and LOB-PSV era.
A question I started back playing some months ago. Now I saw that some of my cards in sleeves(ultra pro small) are getting damaged. Not big. Buts its there. On the edges. Mostly on the top edges the cards get little damages. And I dont know why. I Did someone experienced that and knows where its coming from? I dont use em often. And when I'm gently
Not if you’re careful and yes all are NM condition. I don’t collect played cards. I keep them in 3 ring binders for nostalgia because that’s the way I used to do it as a kid. You won’t damage your cards if you’re careful and use D ring binders instead of O ring
pokemon and yugioh cards are so expensive. I'm almost done with the Pokemon Go tcg master set collection, but it's going to cost a couple hundred dollars more just to complete it because of the secret rares. I decided I don't want to invest money in to collecting pokemon and yugioh cards anymore. I'll probably just complete the very first set of both yugioh and pokemon and call it my last hoorah to fond childhood memories. one of each Legend of Blue eyes white dragon and Pokemon base set and that's it. I can't keep spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on pokemon and yugioh cards. on a side note I hope you have upgraded to a better binder to keep those cards. a ring binder can easily damage them. get a binder that is leather and has a zipper. those only cost around $30 on ebay. they also have a binder that fits top loaders too, but those cost about $80
Anyone have an idea what the binder sleeves dimension are. And where to get them. Typically when I look they are for standard tcg card but when I use them for yugioh they are way to big. It slightly helps with card sleeves
If it's graded at least 9/10 by PSA, the Blue-Eyes alone is worth 5k. Red-Eyes would be worth $700 at least. Dark Magician $400. Other cards are worth $100 or more too, so from there you get a good idea of how much the whole collection is worth.
