Yu-Gi-Oh! - Malefic Archetype 

Personally I think they all should have kept their original effects from the movie, but with the catch that the field spell has to be Malefic World

The Malefic field spell looks so cool. Looks futuristic, maybe that's what Paradox imagines how his world should look like

They should Re-vamp it with ace monsters from series that came after bonds beyond time. Malefic Galaxy-Eyes and Malefic Dimension Dragons.

Konami makes Malefics borderline unplayable. Also Konami: "Why is no one playing Malefics?!"

I like how Paradox is a 5ds villian and has a whole archetype based on stolen dragons but only bothered taking one of the signer dragons

In my opinion, the Malefics should all have some abilities based on their original counterparts, but NOT the exact ability. IMO, they got it right with Stardust Dragon: it still retains it's ability to protect something, but different or limited. For M. Cyberend could have a burn effect instead of piercing. M Rainbow Dragon could have kept the mass destruction effect at the cost of all your Malefics in the GY, similar to the anime. This way, it makes the Malefics and their counterparts functionally the same, but still different I like the Malefic archetype as well, but without their training wheels in the form of a field spell (which, thankfully, are far better now than they were before) or Skill Drain (which is limited T_T ), the deck is an amazing brickfest with nothing much to make them unique compared to other archetypes

I would love to see more Malefic cards be made. Hopefully we could get more corrupted versions of signature cards, like Malefic Red Dragon Archfiend, Malefic Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon, Malefic Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and Malefic Firewall Dragon.

To answer the question about the mask, I remember a throwaway line from the film saying "I could no longer bear to look at the destroyed future with my own eyes so I put on a mask to filter it out"

Who else wants to see more support for the Malefic Archetype?

I love summoning impractical boss monsters. This deck is that but over and over again and some spell/trap cards keeping them on life support, almost making the deck amazing but falling just short. Definitely one of my favorites. I think the monster effects should be slightly changed from the originals, but still have some kind of effect, like Malefic Stardust vs. original Stardust Dragon.

It’s a shame 90% of the Malefic monsters are just beatsticks.

I do like the Malefic archetype and I think they should give to cyber end rainbow dragon and stardust dragon the anime effects

After I finally watched Bonds Beyond Time about a month ago (it felt like a weird acid trip, especially when Dark Magician spoke and Atem was all, "nice play, Jaden" the whole time) I thought Melefics had this weird but kind of cool parallel with Toons in that they were other people's, mainly protagonists' monsters corrupted in a sense, plus how vital the Malefic World spell is, and how you can't have the biggest monsters on the field without it.

Perhaps a Galaxy eyes Archetype. They are so cool. Cipher dragon is my favourite. Also the Malefics were always one of my favourite decks. Malefic Cyber End Dragon is my favourite.

2:30 I have the theory that the reason he uses the mask is because the movie was being promoted while 5d's was in TV, specifically during the last episodes, where we used to see flashbacks of Aporia/Z-ONE/Antinomy showing us their future. The other survivor, Paradox, also appeared, but never talked nor appeared in screen for more than a few seconds, so they wanted to keep in secret that the villain in the upcoming movie was him. After the show stops promoting the movie with movie scenes in the opening (literally the first episode they stop promoting the movie), Paradox is mentioned and Yusei has flashbacks of him. The in-lore reason for him using a mask remains a mystery tough, perhaps is because we lack the perception of ✨fashion✨ they had in the future

Seeing as stardust's malfic form was the only one of those dragons seen as good I think having abilities that referenced their real abilities would have been atleast decent enough

This deck needs major improvement, it’s wasted potential for a deck that revolves around the most iconic dragons out there.

I just had a dumb thought, Let's say you banish maybe Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, and a Stardust Dragon, So let's say all you're monsters are gone and you don't have a card. Then you activate Return from the different dimension

I feel like the Malefic monster should retain their original effect, but a little bit nerfed by “When this monster makes the first attack, you can activate this effect: [Retained effect]. “ It would make perfect sense, since the Malefic Cyber end dragon can attack and use its effect. Plus another support card that allows all malefic monsters to attack regardless of effects, seeing as how everything is so power creeped.

Malefic as a whole is such a cool concept, and i like the designs, I just feel like they screwed them over with the effect changes. Also Paradox is awesome but I thought the movie wasn't too good. They could have done so much more if he was simply a villain in the 5d's series during the Z-ONE arc, instead of the movie.

The Malefic is an archetype with lot of potential. They have a very powerful search anything spell card, 1 quick-play monster reborn and an insane synchro monster that can special summon other synchro monsters

When paradox took Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Kaiba Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon was born.

If Malefics get better support I would totally play a deck with them.

I think keeping the originals' effects, or even straight up buffing their effects, wouldn't be too much for the archtype. Because removing their field spell insta-nukes their entire existance, making them that much more vulnerable to getting shut down. Like, imagine a card that is just situationally not a beatstick, and for that has the drawback of being treated as both a monster and a spell/trap card with 0 protection. That's Malefic Truth Dragon(that's not even touching the whole "pay half your LP" thing as well). And I know Malefic Territory is there for protection, but that's an entire other card you potentially have to pull and setup in order for just one layer of protection. If the opponent uses one more spell/trap removal, or uses non-targeting backrow removal and bypasses the protection outright, it's good night for the whole archtype.

To me, if Rainbow Dragon and Stardust mantained their effects they would've been TOO broken, considering that it was still the synchro era too Cyber end dragon could've mantained it cause it's not that strong but then it would be dumb to give the effect to just one monster

I think the reason why Malefic monsters are so sick is simple: They don’t fuck over the original archetype. See, if you want to make a Cyber dragon deck (like I am right now), Malefic Cyber End is unironically a great card to have. It’s an easier version of Cyber End to summon, with less restrictions. But here’s the kicker: they could have made the field spell clause ONLY accept Malefic World. Instead, any field spell works.

Malefic World field spell: -real world effect. conduct draw, opponent choose 3. blah blah blah. -maybe special summon only "1 malefic monster per turn but it cant attack until the next turn" -probably have as many malefic monsters (5) on the field BUT only 3 malefic monsters attack per turn. malefic archetype: -pretty much what 6:27 has except remove only 1 malefic on the field effect and other monsters you control cannot declare an attack. -keep their original effects from the movie/original monster's effect(s), BUT with the catch that the field spell has to be Malefic World

I believe Malefic Rainbow Dragon should keep its effect. The normal one is already a bitch to summon and its malefic counterpart already has a bunch of restrictions already. Thanks for the all the trivia on paradox and the archetype’s name btw. :)

There's also the paradox that if he changes the past, he won't need to go to the past to change the past, Thus..... he won't go to the past to change the past.

Malefic Paradox Dragon is arguably the worst Main Deck Boss monster ever in Yu-Gi-Oh history

Let me get this straight. Paradox's goal is to save the future, and to achieve this goal, he destroys the past. Wouldn't destroying the past _also_ destroy the future he lives in, thereby negating the whole purpose of his mission? Like, I know I'm not a genius when it comes to space-time, but isn't the whole idea super counterproductive?

Malefic Cyber End should have kept its original effect, though I think that Malefic Rainbow Dragon should have gotten something unique to it.

I still love these cards even if they aren't the best. Seeing them get some updates over the years is pretty nice too. I just sort of wish we got a few more monsters. Like give us a Malefic Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Black Winged Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, etc. I think would add more variety

Ah yes, the archetype of 2 tech choices for completely different archetypes, and the rest pack filler. Seriously, Malefic Cyber End is actually a train, and Stardust is the true Gravekeepers boss.

I think that Malefic Stardust's effect is fine, but I do think that Malefic Rainbow and Cyber End should have had their anime effects

Why Rainbow Dragon can be banished from the hand: In the main deck there are 3 cards with 3 malefic counterparts: Blue eyes, Red Eyes, and Rainbow dragon. If Blue eyes and Red eyes ends up in the player’s hands their still playable by sacrificing, however if Rainbow dragon ended up in the player’s hand and didn’t allow the person to banish it, Rainbow dragon would he completely useless since the Crystal Beasts wouldn’t be in a malefic deck, so I believe this feature was used in order to make Rainbow Dragon still have a purpose
