I think the biggest reason for the low attendance is how much Konami is dragging their feet with the banlist. They should have released it straight after the WCQs. They are treating their playerbase like children instead of customers who are paying a lot of money to play the game.

And people are getting priced out. No way in hell should it be fair to make players give over a band for an event that will give you garbage prizes.

People SHOULD stay the FRICK away from the events for Yugioh. And please guys don’t just flock back the moment a banlist drops. WE NEED to stay away so Konami suffers more and more and finally changes sth. And I dont mean a cool banlist. We need massive changes.

A few takeaways from watching this YCS: Snake-Eye, while offering interesting gameplay from time-to-time, has missed the mark in terms of design. I find it more interesting when they're a supplemental engine to support other Fire archetypes, like Volcanic. But just generating a bunch of material for (mostly) Link plays, and paired with Fiendsmith, which does the same (along with Beatrice plays) lacks creativity, beyond the skill needed to pilot it at a high level. We can't interrupt it or break the board effectively without the correct combination of handtraps & boardbreakers, or heavy floodgates, and we need a lot of them. Yubel is along similar lines, Phantom has a ridiculous Summoning condition, Gates should not be supporting this deck as well as it is, the soft OPT on Spirit is crazy and it's also backed up by Fiendsmith and Varudras. Seeing the lines being performed correctly is interesting, but not much creativity due to the repeatability. There are other decks waiting in the wings, like Labrynth, Memento, White Forest variants, Melodious, Ritual Beast, Plants for an opportunity to shine, that could be created with the F&L list. It's probably worth looking at some of the unhealthy cards/plays these decks can put out to see what is waiting for us if the top decks are hit appropriately. Stream quality-wise I agree with your points, although I do like that they try to magnify cards being played sometimes so that viewers can have a better look. It's not much, but it helps. Commentary could've been better as well, it was done nicely in Europe, but it wasn't terrible here. It'd be interesting to note how many "non-games" or auto-wins there were using cards like Shifter, and other floodgates, as well as usage rates for the cards. At least using the feature matches for data, it's probably hard to get it for all the games. Some small positives regarding the survey put out by Konami to gather views as well as a (hopeful) hint towards an effective F&L list that could change things. Maybe it's not a lot, but I'll take it over nothing.

@PalkiaDialgaGiratina
@PalkiaDialgaGiratina Месяц назад
@@autobotstarscream765 Too soon for those 2 as well. As much as I love Tear, I can't deny how much it seems to have destroyed a lot of casuals' interest in the game, bc of how much it could play on the opponent's turn. It couldn't go on for ever, and the deck did way too much with the Ishizu cards. Maybe pure they'd be manageable, but it's hard to deny the power of Tear. As for Kash, Arise-Heart was a house that could solo so many strategies on his own. The other issue was the face-down banishing was very hard to recover from, which Kash did like nobody's business. The power of the Kash cards is still evident in decks that play Fenrir + Unicorn with Birth. Plants, it's tough to say. They're obviously very strong, but they're like gatekept both by a lack of people wanting to pilot them and requiring good pilots on top of that. Honestly, probably a good deck worth picking up to learn.

About a years ago I was playing a floodgatey crystal beast deck and people at locals were saying it was unskillful and that I sucked. Now those same people are playing skill drain or shifter, of all cards, in their meta competitive deck. If you ask me, winning with a rogue floodgate deck is more impressive than winning with a meta floodgate deck.

Don’t let ‘em get to you those meta sheeps are just that you can play whatever you want Rogue Decks and Floodgates alongside lingering effects have been in the game forever so they can complain all they want because even if they hit those floodgates there will be more to replace them after all there’s over 11,000 cards in this game they hit a floodgate there’s plenty more to choose from

@@chelseafcfanisy I don't have any one list, as crystal beasts are my pet deck. But id play the basic conclave control build with kashtira cards (necrovalley + bagooska was my go to end board) . Before those came out, I played a zombie world build with super poly as a board breaker. Then when golden rule came out I also kept a second "combo" build. When I'd win with floothgate.deck, people got super salty. Last locals I went to, I won with the combo deck and someone legit looked like he wanted to punch me because of my end board... So I'm over this game. I'll play with friends and leave it at that. Toxic community of players. At least at my shop. Can't win with floodgates, can't win with combo, idk if they even want their opponent to play lol.

ppl pointed out to me that this YCS was very small bc its NorCal and apparently that usually gets lower turn outs bc its hard for ppl to travel to and flights are more money and whatnot, PLUS they announced it rather late. But i also think that unless we have more data to go off of to compare numbers to, there is no way to know if this is a normal attendance number or not. if we look at the past few YCSes this past year however, the last 2 were Indy and Raleigh, getting about double this, and then before that was Richmond at the beginning of the Fire Era all the way back in November, getting about 1400 or so (i am deliberately excluding Vegas bc lets be honest, who the fuck would not be going to vegas for that 3v3 if they were able to go?). Based on those numbers, its significantly lower than the past but like i said, there is not enough data to say "this is lower than it should be" or not. I think the next course of action would be to examine regionals, examine locals, and see if that level of play is suffering. I have heard of reprorts of locals stopping support for Yugioh, both card products (Sealed and Singles) and tournaments. If we had data from that to go off of, id be better equipped to say one oway or another if things are good or bad, but without it we are left to wonder.

@RealJokerGaming
@RealJokerGaming Месяц назад
I don't think skill drain and summon limit are the problem. The problem is that everyone can splash a broken engine that sets up nearly unbreakable boards with all but one card. One card combis are ridiculous and the fact that a deck of 40 cards can play like 15-20 one card combos is absurd. Summon limit should have never been banned. It's totally fair because neither player can summon more than twice. It goes both ways. Skill drain is only being played because it's the only hope players have

There are a few considerations when covering this event: • Pokémon Worlds, One Piece Championship, and the short notice were factors affecting attendance. I know Walter Jules didn't go because he and our friends in common had already purchased their trip to Chicago. • There were interesting techs in the top cut decks, not that straight forward: Our Friend Terrazas in Top 4 had Fiendsmith Yubel FTK. Our champion Jesse had a Protos play. • I can't share my opinion about Ibra vs. Carrillo, because Carrillo is my friend, but didn't feel good at all.

My issue with snake eye (and yes I’m biased) isn’t so much the gameplay fully, yes there’s matches where it feels like you are comparing hands but generally the matches, especially game 1, can be very enjoyable. The issue I have is no deck should be around for 7-8 months, it just gets boring overtime seeing the same thing. Even tear, a super skill expressive deck got boring after a while.

I think one of the worse part is some decks this format are basically a coin flips instead of actually having skill. It's either you draw multiple handtraps or win with your one card combos or you get the opposite happen to you. I really find tenpai lazy card design.
@AndrewUdal
@AndrewUdal Месяц назад
@@galaxyvulture6649 yea I do agree, like for me I like how snake eye works but the end boards are starting to get degenerate, and if they don’t nuke the deck it only gets more degenerate.
