I have too much love for Yu Yu Hakusho to not give this a chance. Regardless of how it turns out. My fave Anime of all time. So nice to see the series getting some love and respect 🫡
This is how I feel it's not like OG material is disappearing if anything it'll drive more people back. We might even get a series revival if popular enough
it's clear they are changing up the entire torunament arc. Almost making it completely abridged. That being said I'm in the same boat as you. I've watched this anime more than any other and even though aspects of this look a little cheesy and campy, I have way too much love for this not to watch it. I know there will be a lot of people hating on it though, so gonna try to just enjoy it to myself and stay off the forums
Still the best anime. I'm watching the original hunter x hunter over 40 episodes in and I do enjoy it and look forward to watching it but Yu Yu the best
The original is better but this is entertaining. The fightning scenes are great. Yusuke's character is a bit dissapointing. He is suppose to have swag and a sarcastic humour and I do get that from the acting. I hope they guide him into reflecting Yusuke's character better.
They condensed a lot of material of the first season but they did a great job with it. Normally I'm not a fan of live action adaptions, but this ones definitely worth a watch for yu yu hakusho fans
Things is, fans want exactly same like anime/manga and it's normal to get dissapointed for the change. Here I go with you, it's worthed and love the fighting scene afterall. It's good and enjoyable adaptation.
NAHHHHHH STOP GLAZING THIS PIECE OF SHIT.....and you are wrong, it's not that fans want the exact thing, fans want the essence of the show, the ESSENCE!!! This piece of crap was too clean and just bubblegum tv...you want to see a real adoption, Rurouni Kenshin...that's how you make an adoption
@@quenchtv5436 what are you talking about there are two more seasons after that in the show, the psychics and the demon world stuff after that. then ive heard there is even more stuff that happens after the show that were in the books.
Yuyu Hakusho have the best tournament Arc (Dark Tournament) in any anime hands down. Seeing this trailer made me feel that they won't be able to recreate it but definitely will binge watch this on release.
@@johnlucas6683 It's the fight during the Rescue Yukina arc, albeit with some changes, like having both Urameshi team and Toguro team fight against each other. I'm guessing the ending will be Toguro meeting Yusuke again and inviting him to the Dark Tournament. S2 will probably be like a rematch for each character and so seeing them early on here gives them more character development so that we can have more focus on the fighting in S2
Maybe the will change somethings, but tackle the Dark Tournament in another season? Seems pretty short to explore everything even in a condensed version
The Rurouni Kenshin live-action films was adapted perfectly with the best castings. I hope Netflix can be just as successful with YYH in its own mini series.
Just finished it and it's so good 😭sure there were a couple missing parts from the manga/anime but the story was still captivating as it was back then. Everyone played their roles so well and the action sequence were top notch! The fight choreography, the visual effects, the set design, costumes were amazing and the acting was sensational! It reminds me of Alice In Borderline/ Bleach Live action/ I am Hero, It has it's flaws but it's still one of the best live action anime that was done up to date, it's charming in its own way and I highly recommend for people to give it a chance whether you're a fan or not! Don't let the failed live action from the past make you miss this gem, I honestly wished there were more than 5 episode! It's a solid 8/10 for me! ❤
were missing couple of parts - yea, freaking 3 seasons +- in 5 series, i would says a lot of was missing. Makes we feels that Toguro is beat now, that we wont get fights of tournament, and if there will be tournament then probably are not adapting by the mange/anime = different show(fine by me, but dont call it Yu Yu Hakusho show)
It won't be so bad if they'd translate it from anime's 1 arc to live action's 1 episode. That way, the build would still be there. Also, the whole tournament's one of the best. If they won't show every team, they would have a problem on how they'd show the recurring characters in Sensui's arc and Raizen's arc.
I'm two episodes in and it's really good. The fight scenes were great. This anime was one of my faves back then, it was dubbed in our language (Filipino) and aired on free tv in the afternoons every weekdays (here titled 'Ghostfighter'). I was expecting a more androgynous looking Kurama but that's a nitpick easily overlooked because the prod kept consistent w/ the characterizations from the anime version. I loved Kurama (Dennis) and used to draw charcoal portraits of him copying from playcards and posters he was featured (esp. his white wolf-man form).
Definitely. I think though you have to go into watching it accepting that it's not going to be a true representation of the source material. To enjoy it, you'll have to accept that it's its own story roughly following the Yu Yu Hakusho universe in a short amount of time. Just like how you would watch a Batman movie but not expect it to meticulously follow the comic book stories but you would expect it to still respect the comic book source material.
@@elfilibusterible I'm sure YYH can work as a Live Action-it's got some crazy set pieces and fights, but ultimately it's short enough and JUST grounded enough that it should be adaptable. One Piece on the other hand? That shit gets fantastical AF after East Blue, and there's so much source to cover. My guess is fans will sour on it as it progresses, and more and more of it needs to be condensed or outright cut for budgetary and time purposes.
@@trumps_toupeeas a One Piece fan, I couldn't even finish the first episode of the live action version. Nami is great, but that Luffy had me wanting to slam my head through a plate glass wall. I wasn't impressed.
Just because of the special place this anime holds in my heart, I’m excited for this, it definitely seems like they changed things but still stuck pretty close to what it is. They look great :)
Watching the first episode and honestly….Im pleasantly surprised. I think it does a pretty good job in honoring the source material and making it its own. Sad it’s only 5 episodes but hopefully there’s a season 2 Definitely will go rewatch YYH anime for the billionth time
@@modha808bech2 Aww, how cute.. A little fanboy has appeared, cope more loser. Have fun on the block/ignore list as you're a waste of my time anyway, bye bye.
Its practically my religion. All I'll say is its different. I can tell the creators put in serious work but they rushed and changed so much. Had this been a show of its own I wouldnt care to judge it so but as for as an adaption its not even. Its more like a "inspired by the" type of movie.
Im excited to see genkai youth form and i hope the battle between her and taguro will be an epic one that encompasses the relationship this two had. Also since they are remaking a lot of classic animes im praying that this series gets an reboot or like rurounin kenshin where they updated the animation.
Just started this series… 3 minutes in. Nearly in my 60’s so I grew up watching James Dean. 😊I have never seen any actor embody the brilliance of James Dean so perfectly as Kitamura Takumi ⭐️👏🏽👏🏼👏🏾. The slow easy movements of complete nonchalance and contempt. Giving the audience space to absorb events right along with him. Spectacular!
They already ruined it by casting all Japanese when obviously the characters aren't Japanese and they changed kuwabaras hair from orange to blonde huge L
Well paced in what way? They put what should've been a full eight episode portion of the show in as two episodes and while the action is good, the emotional substance is not even there. So the pacing issue is they didn't take time to build anything up, and the climax is therefore rushed and unearned.
@@DarkflameEmperor I only saw a few episodes of the original series back in the day, and I found the pacing to be great for this live action version. 🤷♂️ I do think some anime series can drag a bit. The treatment of this one felt a bit like an elongated movie/mini-series. Just my opinion. Fans who have seen the original series may disagree, but since I’m not as invested in the original, I thought this was a fun ride.
@@Rad9-O-2 That's an interesting perspective. I've seen people who don't know the story really do have a positive outlook on the show as a whole. But someone like Genkai who had an entire portion of the manga / anime to grow close to the entire group was introduced, trained characters for about seven minutes, and died in the same episode. In the anime, after training the main cast for dozens of episodes, she offers to give Yusuke the power he wants at the cost of her own life, giving him a conundrum to his deep desire he thought he would give anything for (to beat Toguro), a power he said he would give anything for. He ultimately chooses not to take her life. If you don't take the build to build the bond between the two characters, the weight of the choice wouldn't be meaningful. She fights Toguro using her philosophy of not having the wisdom until after she is of old age, and at her old age she loses the youthful strength she once had, so her position to defeat Toguro is to pass her wisdom down and give her knowledge to the later generation. The contrast is a position directly opposed to Toguro's, and she wins in the end through Yusuke, even if she directly faces him and dies to set up the final conflict. Cut out the bond she builds with the group over a collection of episodes and having it be summed up in a singular episode takes away the weight of her training, her bonds, her sacrifice. And of course, the opposing philosophy she has to Toguro that power isn't obtained, but passed down to the next generation. It is a core component to the reason why that sixty chapter arc is looked at as one of the best tournament arcs ever written.
Just finished watching; it was sooo good. Enjoyed every bit of it. I dont know why ppl think its not-you cant possibly make a live adaptation in every scene on the anime--the way they managed to condensed the first arc in 5 episodes is amazing enough. They kept the integrity of the anime intact. Action scenes are great-and actors are all easy on the eyes. Cant wait for season 2!!! Hope they make it at least 7 episodes-or maybe 10? 😊😊😊
I also just now finished the episode 5...it was good although I was feeling sleepy to watch all....but,I repect the vfx & all the good proper fight scenes they have given.... 🫡
Thank you to Takumi kitamura for playing Yusuke!!! He did such a wonderful role with Takemichi in the live action Tokyo revengers and I already know it’s going to be good with him playing Yusuke!!!
My favorite thing about the release of all the trailers, teasers, etc. is seeing all of the people rush to the comments about how YuYu is either 1. their favorite anime (and the best of all time) 2. the anime they watched growing up as a kid in the 90's and early 00's 3. both 1 and 2.
Oh I know. Just the best opening music of any anime ever. So nostalgic for me. The show was the shit. This version seems rushed and sloppily put together tho.
Totally unexpected, yet I now recall how much I loved the anime. I love it so much I once got a Japanese-only release of its ps2 game on eBay, and savored its gameboy game completely. But I barely remember what happened
They didnt follow story from anime/manga at all. Its sad because they actually can divide each season for each arc but japan producer Just like hollywood love to take liberty by masing every arc together.
Man, they condensed so much of it... He earned the right to train under Genkai to learn the Spirit Wave. He didn't have a 'mentor'. That's kind of the point of his character. He's a learn-as-you-go kind of guy. Koenma was like "Hey, you got a Spirit gun." And Yusuke just ironed out the kinks from there.
They condensed the first 52 episodes of the _One Piece_ anime into 8 Live-Action episodes. And, that actually turned out good. They hit all the key moments. Eiichiro Oda was involved in that. If Yoshihiro Togashi is involved in this, then I'll 100% give it a go. _EDIT:_ It looks like he is... _"Netflix announced a live-action adaptation of Togashi's manga in late 2020. The series is directed by Shō Tsukikawa and written by Tatsurō Mishima alongside Togashi."_
Yea and one piece live action they didn’t show Luffy vs Don krieg and Don krieg got one shotted by mihawk and Jinn was a mere cameo since Don krieg didn’t invade baratie. This adaptation is probably 10 episodes like Alice in borderland of course their going to condense stuff however seeing the shot of younger Toguro getting hurt by Yusuke spirit gun or the character trailer we yoko KURAMA was shown idk
@@beardo-bagginsbecause there is 1000 episoodes of one piece and the pace is slow. Yu yu has only 111 episodes and its fast paced. Not a good idea to condense the already short story.
@@emaildude99 Understandable, since there are so many bad live actions. I'll give this a try though, if it doesn't live up to my expectation I'll drop it too.
I watched the first season. I will say it's quite good,, just keep in mind it's not going to follow the anime. They definitely made their own changes and adaptations.
Hell exited for this one...Looks promising....After Alice in Borderland this JDrama has the potential to impress the international audiences. Hope this works well.
It was made by someone in Japan. That doesn't mean the characters are Japanese. Can't think of a single one that could actually be Japanese that's where these shows are getting it wrong not even casting the right kind of characters that's why cowboy bebop failed and that's why one piece is failing obviously the main characters of this show are white not to mention the fact they changed kuwabaras hair from orange to blonde that's already a huge fail
@@mkuehter12 the name is irrelevant look at how they are drawn you're not going to convince me someone who looks like that is Japanese same goes for the majority of the characters on the show
i really love yu yu hakusho, it just bring back my childhood memories. i just love it. it is my most favorite anime. i can't wait to see the movie but also i have high expectation for this
So...no Dark Tournament, but a street fight against Bui, Karasu and the Toguro Bros? Condensing too much is a risk bet that usually doesn't end well. Really a shame.
I have accepted the fact that anime/manga adaptations won't do everything exactly, what I'm after is a cohesive story that contains the essence of the material. - As long as Yusuke's goodness is shown (even if Pu isn't featured) as a deciding factor for his actions and not because he's being forced by Koenma - As long as we see Hiei's brotherly love towards Yukina - As long as we understand that Kurama lives on guilt because of the things he's done as a demon fox (specially how he left Yomi to die) - As long as Kuwabara is funny and is head over heels for Yukina - As long as Toguro is just dead inside and is as monster (please don't give him and remorse) I'd be happy. Of course i'd be happier if Koenma shows his baby form. or if they continue with Season 2 with the Toguro tournament (although I doubt it).
This is one of tne most talented writers, actors, actresses, feeling gushing fantasy anime series I've ever watched. It is above one piece for me. I can really feel everything that happens. ART! Thank you.
This was amazing! Watched the whole season and loved it! All the characters outfits matched the show perfectly and the actors did every character justice! I do wish they’d have found a white redhead for Kuabara but the actor did amazing! The action and graphics were so cool and well done. Only issue I have is I want more 😂❤️😎🤘🏼
Aaaaaai meu coração ❤️ Não acredito que vivi para presenciar esse momento 🥹 Meu anime preferido agora em uma versão Live Action. Vamos torcer para ser um sucesso. Gostei do que vi nesse trailer.
Could be great or it could be another Cowboy Bebop( the LA, not the anime)! The characthers look ok, the fights seem to be on point! Lord please let it be good
I was worried they were planning to include the tournament in this season when I saw Toguro, then I remembered they fought him to get Hiei's sister back so I don't think they're going to try and speed through the material
@@johnlucas6683 Just a guess from the trailer, but the Yukina arc involved the Togashi bros' patron trafficking demons. I could see showing some fan-faves from the Dark Tournament in that context, as though they too were kidnapped. A nice preview if they get to do S2, or good old fanservice if not.
Just finished watching all 5 episodes and all I can say is it was fantastic and entertaining...hoping for another season and congrats to the Yu Yu Hakusho Team you did an awesome job
Netflix didn't cast, direct any of this so I'm guessing it'll be better than I expected but I'll have to see. Netflix just being the stream service is what should happen with any of these series Cuz they need to know their role and never go out of their lane ever again.
The 1st Episode made me cry! It was a mixture of childhood nostalgia and memories. I’m a mom now and I can’t believe it has its own live action adaptation. I loved it! Imagine my crush Kurama came to life. I’m ready for S2!
Wow this looks bad... I can understand why it made you cry, I mean... it's like watching the Dragonball Evolution trailer all over again! You know it's bad, but you know it's going to be even worse if you take a chance on it. Not this time, Satan!
So no tournament but you have all the characters on the final round…. You could literally do the first season up til he loses to toguro in the parking garage and gets an invitation…then we wait for the dark tournament for season 2….
Just finished watching and it's been years since i last watched the anime. I can say the effects, cgi and actors were all Good. I wish it was 8 or 10 Episodes instead of 5 so that the story didnt feel rushed and we got to know the characters more. But I would say the team really did a good job trying to follow the orginal material!
