Corporal Kelly, please let me express my respect and gratitude to you, and to all the members of our armed forces. You continue to serve with honor by creating excellent, hands on, no BS practical outdoor skills instruction by example. You rock and Yucca rocks, but you can keep your tonic! Thank you, Sir, and please carry on!
...I really love how you use every part of the plant you harvest. Nothing wasted. Truly the best philosophy in Woodcrafting. Needless to say, another great video full of incredibly useful information...
Ok, watching this again, I have seen something that I missed before or forgot. Watching these vids over again I always catch something I missed before. Hoorah Marine!
There are a lot of videos on here about reverse wrap cordage, some have poor lighting and other faults , this is the best video I've seen yet on this subject .
....I have heard/seen others utilize the very tip of the leaf as a "needle", and possibly this might be quite useful in many applications, (needle and thread, combo)! BTW: Great demo!!!! Thanks!!!
awesome cordage video Kelly sorry about the misplacement of the last comment keep up the great work i learn so much from you all the time awesome job kelly
What I like to do is instead of making the initial bite in the centre of the length of fibres, is to make it 1/4 the length from one end. That way one 'end' will run out with 1/2 the fibre length left on the other. You can then splice in full length fibres alternately without folding them in half making for longer fibre lengths along the rope.
Excellent tutorial. Great camera work. Every time I've tried this, it encourages me to make sure I pack enough cordage! :-) Vulture says, "Patience my arse, I'm gonna kill something!" Thank You.
Hey, Cpl... Love your vids. Keep up the awesome job. If you want to use cordage for fishing line, it needs to be waterproof. Rub some warmed pine sap into it, then work some fine grey ash from the campfire into it. Presto, waterproof cordage.
Hi Lilly! Your channel is great! You and cprl's channels are my favorite. You both have inspired me too start my own outdoor channel and I am only 12 years old. Thank you, and happy holidays!
I can't remember who or what video I watched but it showed how to use the end that is sharp as a needle and the fiber's as thread to sew stuff up or together, was really cool.
Nice Demo Corporal! I have a ton of yucca, I've made a couple of small pieces of cordage but I think Its time to make a long rope. Thanks for the motivation!
Wait a minute - I bought some decent 550 test cordage so I could practice your knot-making tutorials. I didn't know I was supposed to MAKE the cordage :)
Another great video, I've been watching your vids for a while now but never commented before, all great stuff. I too was a corporal in the Marines and a Viet Nam veteran. Keep the vids coming, Semper Fi bro. Bill
Once again, that was outstanding dude. Do you just tie off both ends of the finished cord with an overhand knot? Thanks for sharing all the knowledge and skills.
I was wondering if the pulp juice could be used for camo facepaont ,it looks like it might have a lasting effect or will it just wash / sweat right off ?
Good reason for having the scraper teeth on the knife spine. Place the knife spine behind and toward the knees. Sit and lock the knife with the knees. Pull the agave back and forth between the (free) hands, faster than beating and scraping (and breaking) the fibers between rock and rock.
Thank you very much for the video. I tried to make cordage before but didnt get the splice thing properly done , i'll have to try again. How strong is that cordage ? Do you think it could hold up to make a bowdrill set ? Thanks.
+Corporals Corner Amazing videos you have on your channel! I can't believe your videos don't have more views. :( I heard about your channel from the Primitive Technology guy here on youtube, I'm glad I decided to check out your channel. Have a good one, semper fi amigo. :) P.S.: I'm not a marine, but I have some marine, airforce, and navy friends and acquaintances.
A second possibility for a video title would be How to have a green thumb and fingers. Something else in case you havent heard this. You can use the point and some of that fiber to make a natural needle and thread?
Hey Corporal, I love your videos as I aspire to be Marine one day. Can you make a video on physical fitness? Just like you said in the tonic video you need to be ready in all aspects, mind, gear, and body. What are your routines? -Kazami
Would it be more efficient to craft one really long length of cordage and cut & tie it off in the amounts that you need when you need it, or to just create several pieces of varying lengths?
Makes me want to go out and practice my cordage making skills. Right after the next video, or maybe the one after that. Well, maybe after the one after that. Feeling a little lazy today. Maybe tomorrow. Lol
you silly next time just a little bit for the test lol lol loved the video GUYS WITH HEART PROBLEMS AND HEART MEDS WATCH THE TURMERIC this coming from a heart problem and med taking guy be careful all and i bet this shtuff does work
@@recall5811 my doctor told me that the turmeric stops some certain heart meds from working and he also had explained that folks like myself with very high blood pressure that the turmeric causes the blood to thin too much and is dangerous
When it dries it would be problematic and when wet could give some and create slack. In reality many things could be used temporarily for bow string but if it's slacks up it will be less affective. When I was a kid I made a bow and the string I made from palm leaves using this same method. It worked for a few days just to mess around with but gave and snapped.
Hi corporal I need caption looked you didn't offer caption on this one caption please I allway's look forward to you'r next vlog thank you CORPORAL KELLY IS C😎😎L
