That anime summoning for *Black Luster Soldier* was brilliant. When Yami Yugi unleashed this monster against Mai Valentine, it was one of my favorite ritual summons following *Magician of Black Chaos.*

These older deck videos are so fun. Love the back and forth with quick turns. Also that Brain Control -> Black Luster Soldier -> Attack Wall of Illusion -> Gets Sent to Hand combo was brilliant.

Man that Brain Control to attack Wall Of Illusion was such a good move. You can kind of see where Yu-Gi-Oh was growing into the intricate, nail-biting game it is now, flipping the duel that fast, then flipping it again with Axe Of Despair.

now that i think about it, black luster soldier´s ritual consisting on tributing monsters to add up 8 levels kind of sounds like a prototype version of synchro summoning

I would love it if you guys did a follow up to this video using either the decks that jaden and yugi used during their duel at the end of gx, or using an actually good DM deck vs an actually good HERO deck. That would be awesome!

You know, to this day, I've always felt it was a missed opportunity that they never did an Evolution version of Starter Decks Pegasus & Joey. I had always wondered what cards would have been in both that would have made the deck a worthy upgrade.

Not sure if you answer questions on here, but. Do you think Yugioh are phasing out the polymerisation spell card, with an increase in fusion monsters being possible to summon without it and the fact you don’t require a spell card to Synchro or XYZ summon? I had a hunch they were making it less necessary with cards like Blue Eyes Twin Burst Dragon and the new Gate Guardian fusion support.

Those starter decks about anime characters are really cool to collect too with the image of the protagonist on the front, don't understand why they stopped doing that, also those jaden and syrus came out when gx era was almost finished and they were mostly standard decks with a few elemental heroes or roids without any fusion, kinda weird at least i would have preferred like a ultra rare neos on the front on jaden deck

Man this video took me back to the simpler times when yugioh was easy for kids to understand . No crazy cards and extremely long text boxes like today. We just played in elementary school, no official/tournament rules or anything crazy. Just a simple and fun time.

"rituals sucked back then" Got to keep in mind that special summoning multiple monsters was still pretty rare back then. And it was way easier to discard cards than to have 2 monsters on board AND tribute summon them. So in a way BLS is better than Blue-Eyes, especially in that era.

When I first saw the title I thought "oh the Jaiden deck is going to clear, easy. Newer cards, better combos, no contest". Then I saw them actually pulling the cards and thought, wow the Jaiden deck is...not good...elemental heroes without the thing that makes them good...fusions. (and also so many cards that have nothing to do with Jaiden, I would have been so disappointed with that structure deck as a kid), so I thought the Yugi deck would win. Then the duels actually happens and nope, I was right the first time. Also, I really hope that on the turn card destruction was played that it was already in the hand and Kuriboh had just been drawn. Because if not...why not use the Kuriboh to reduce any of that damage that had been thrown out?

Ok so i counted, in a JAIDEN structure deck only 10 of 40 cards are actually jaidens, everything else is random nonsense, you cant call it a jaiden deck with almost no heros!

Black Luster Soldier is the card I wish you'd have seen more of in the anime but yeah Ritual Monsters sucked back in the day unfortunately. Awesome video really brought the feels back to me and it is sad the Starter Deck Jaden didn't give you Flame Wingman considering it was the first fusion hero in the show. An idea for a themed duel: Spirit Monsters Vs Gemini Monsters, Fabled Vs Old School Darkworld, and Buster Blader Vs Black Luster Soldier. Just throwing some thoughts out there.
