Not weird at all. It was meant to counter synchro summoning. Making it literally impossible because you need tuners, which the field spell replaces with tokens.

The reason we got Crow over a akinwas for two reasons when you think about it we really didn't know much about crow in fact for the really the whole series all we knew was the fact that he was friends with Jack yusei and kailn which is probably why aki got bench pressed anyway because Crow didn't really have much character development in my opinion the only thing you could even make an argument for was in the signers Arc after that he didn't really become relevant till aki ended up losing and not only that but the reason I will prefer Crow over aki it's because overall I like him a lot more as a character and we still don't really know much about him anyway versus Aki we know her entire backstory we know why she did what she did and everything else I like both characters but if I had to overall choose I would want to see a little bit more of crow during these two final arcs which is what happened cuz Aki's peak was during the first season while crows was in the second. And not only that but if you did watch the first season I have no idea if you think about it Aki was the reason that everything after the battle with the darksigners happened I still like her character but we kind of have to acknowledge this cuz if she would have got there in time the rest of the events would have never happened the one thing I don't like is how they did her in the second season in the tag duels I do wish she got more time but overall I would have preferred Crow.

@@Uteno432 well, I don't know if you know this, but crow was never really intended to be an important character AT ALL to begin with. Lol, like... where was he throughout all of season one when Goodwin invited ALL the Signers to his tournament? Aki was well-developed because she was IMPORTANT, crow coming out of nowhere and start replacing half the cast members of 5D's was not. And it literally made NO sense whatsoever story-wise that he got such a random promotion out of nowhere during season two... We didn't know much about crow at the start because he wasn't planned to be a character that would stick around after season two ended. But even when he did stick around, his existence STILL didn't make any sense. And that's mainly because season three lampshaded the fact that his entire persona belonged to Pearson. A completely different character altogether...

@@Evil_Beauty okay wait a second the only reason that Crow was never a signer until the second season was because yusei gave him his mark he was able to defeat a signer without even needing a mark versus Aki although she wants she didn't defeat them in time which is ultimately how Crow had to clean up her mess as well as jack yusei so ultimately I didn't really have any problem with her on the sidelines however I would have liked to see her and Crow alternate for the third spot in the wgpx but the other reason that has to be noted is originally Aki was never supposed to duel in the wgpx this was due to the fact that Crow had a broken something so Aki ended up taking his place because if you go back to the second season in the beginning it was originally supposed to be Crow Jack and yusei but in reality he was supposed to be a decently important character I would say he the better duelist overall therefore I will prefer Crow over aki any day I just wish they both got a little more time to develop their characters
