Yukon River Village of Tanana Drive Around

Tanana, Alaska has a population of about 170 people and is right on the Yukon River 730 miles from the mouth. Many of the videos I put on RU-vid are of the surrounding wild country or fish camps out on the rivers. This on is the streets of Tanana and the structures, homes and businesses that support life in the village.

Hi Stan. My wife and I have been following Yukon Men for years. Catching a rerun on local TV now. We're from New Zealand. Glad to see you on YT. Catch up with the town and how it's changed since Yukon Men. Thanks for sharing your town and your life with us. We really appreciate that. Made our own lives richer by seeing how yous live. We hunt, dive and fish to supplement our wages. Been like that for generations too..Say hello to Joey. Hope you guys are well. Best of luck from Kaitaia Far North of Aotearoa New Zealand. Bring back a return show of Yukon Men I reckon.

Awesome update video and drive through of Tanana. Cool to see the layout of town and see some of the places and family homes featured in Yukon Men. Watching a rerun of the series, it plays weekday evenings here in New Zealand, think the series is nearing the end, season 6 episode 2, last season or 1 to go, so the show is fresh in my mind and driving around town was cool to watch. Also even though we didn't see them, hearing James, Charlie and Pat's names still associated with Tanana is awesome to hear and that they are still around town. A bugger to hear about the continuing fishing ban and the affect that has had on dog teams. Hope it all bounces back in the next year or so. Thanks for the video Stan. Stay safe out there!!

You introduced us to the amazing life of Indigenous people and we fell in love. Stan we love the respect you have for Tanana. Your love for the outdoors is just irreplaceable. We need more people like you. Please come back! You rock!

Thank you both . All the years watching , and reading your book Tananarive layout was a mystery, now solved🥰. Living in my tiny cottage in Derby Dales UK you and your friends and families gave me a window to Alaska I would never have known. History in my life time, family joy and sadness, fish camps, hunting, next generations keeping traditions while working in modern world, the fight to survive brutal conditions, the dogs and all that entailed. I take my hat off to you all for showing life as it was and is now allowing to see the real people. Sending kindness to you all

Thank you, Stan for the update and tour of Tanana. It was interesting to hear about the salmon situation; I hope that the chum make a rebound and it is a shame that the King were over fished. I, like many others, miss the show Yukon Men and have always been sorry it was not continued. Sorry to hear about the dogs being eaten by wolves; that had to be so heartbreaking and I send sad thoughts to Pat and the rest who lost dogs. Get Charlie out there to shoot those wolves. Sure hope we see more of you and Tanana. Thanks, again.

Great to see you Stan. Is that the old Tanana Mail Truck you're driving? Thanks for showing Pat's and Charlie's places, and the quick cameo of James cruising by in his truck. They were prominent actors in the show. We all know exactly who they are. A short video interview with each of them would be real nice if they would allow, just to see them and hear their voices and just a little about what's been going on in their lives. How's your son Joey doing? Any grand kids? There were a lot of us who watched the show and each episode over and over, on what we call "reruns," 2nd and 3rd airings of the same episodes. So, there is interest. Remember, 99% of us in the states who watched were would-be Alaskan's and that show gave us a little relief from our frustrations of not making it there. You are blessed to have lived there for so many years, especially during those pre salmon crisis years. Boston would be just ugly to you by now. Thank you again for all you did and have done here again. Please do more. ben/ michigan

Great tour Stan, always good to see you put out a video showing life up in that area. In true Stan fashion, there was that red warning light on your truck, which to the common man, is just a red light. Could mean a lot of different things but if the truck is still runnin' and gets you out and about AND back home, well, that's just good enough. Many of us envy Ryan, getting to ride along and get an in-person tour, but he did a good job of making us feel like we are right there. Good on ya Ryan, thumbs up. Looking forward to the upcoming project and more after. All the best Stan, good sir.

I was born in 1950 in the north east and grew up watching Betty Boop stuff. The 'grampy' cartoons really really affected me. Some how you seem like you got a jolt, also. When the internet came along, I was finally able to confirm my eccentric nature, by watching all those ancient black and white Betty Boop Grampy cartoons we grew up with, and I was right. Grampy was my first role model. No wonder I levitated to working with my hands and became an old timee blacksmith. You are truly a modern day Grampy. Cheers from Oregon
