Rajinder Krishan ji the writer of this song was born and brought up in India which is now pakistan. Yet he wrote excellent hindi but the script was always in Urdu. And he never showed any bias towards people and their language. He was my father so i guess there are some things that i know.

The song is sung in the key of C5 with the highest note being G5. No doubt Madan Mohanji was one of the greatest music director and Lata Mangeshkarji a phenominal singer, but in my modest opinion, the song would have come out sweeter if the pitch had been lowered to A4, just two notes below C5. By the way, it should be noted that compared to a number of singers of western classical as well as rock music, Lata Mangeshkar's voice had a limited range. Lataji's highest notes are mostly around G#5, and an occasional A5. Maria Carey has hit G7, which is full two octaves above Lataji's usual high of G5. Also listen to Whitney Houston and Celine Dion.
@@arifujjamansahake5371 , thank you, but could you let me know in what song? In any case, I enjoy the sweetness of Lataji's voice when she sang in notes lower than G#5. I also note that playback singers are under the direction of a Music Director but when they performed at concerts, they set their own pitch. Here is an example. In the song "Ehsan tera hoga Muzpar" from the movie Junglee, Lataji had to sing at the same pitch as Rafi Sahab under the direction of Shankar Jaikishan and when you compare the two versions, I hope you will agree that Lataji was not comfortable hitting the highest note (G#5 going by my memory). However, when Lataji came to London in 1970 or so, she performed for BBC and sang the song at a pitch two semitones lower than the original. The end result was incredibly sweet! The BBC version is also available on You Tube so you can readily verify what I am saying.
@@cambridgman yeah I agree with you.but the thing ehsan hoga tera song was made in male scale and Lata ji had to sing that song in that scale which was next to impossible for any female but she did.aji rooth Kar song was in too high,AA ab laut chale too high but I enjoyed her high pitch soo much.yeah perspective can be different for other

Sorry to say even anand bakshi sahab had that calibre..yaha mai ajnabee hoon just listen to that..in fact all the lyricist of that time had that caliber because of there grip on urdu and hindi..and the last of them all is javed akhtar till recently and now no one has that caliber..
