I will copy my words at the ATACAMA publishing of this, the same way publishers copy good interpreteations: "Yunchan Lim play this music as if is was newly invented, with such a freshness and inspiration, but at the same time with such a reference to old masters, that I can nothing but love his interpretation."

Tears came often during this performance... all evoked by Yunchan's playing. Exquisite. What a tender soul he is.

This is an extraordinary contribution to all interpretations of this 4:th piano conserts so far. One of the best, if not the best? Thank you for your comment.

A performance of ineffable beauty and grace. Yunchan Lim is the true successor to the lamented Youri Egorov, the last great pianist. Kudos also to the completely simpatico partnership of Maestro Chung. He and Lim are completely on the same wave length, and the orchestra plays beautifully.

I have been fascinated by Yunchan Lim ever since I heard the Cliburn Competition recordings, especially his very impressive solo recitals. Here, however, I have a few comments, which is admittedly "complaining at a very high level": First of all, this recording is an example of how an intimate and long-lasting relationship between conductor and orchestra cannot be valued highly enough. Of course, the Munich orchestra can play this repertoire classic without a conductor if necessary. I simply miss the inner connection between conductor and orchestra. If you compare such great moments as the performance of this Beethoven 4 with Bernstein, Zimerman and the VPO, you can feel the difference immediately. The Viennese were literally hanging on the tips of Lenny's fingers (and toes...), orchestra and conductor were a symbiosis. And the interaction between orchestra and pianist benefits immensely from such a symbiosis. Here, unfortunately, I missed some fire and also melodiousness and passion in the orchestra. Some tonal inconsistencies or paleness were perhaps also due to the sound engineer. I also think that the piano was not in best condition. In earlier times a proper Steinway D had a bit more colours. In some places, Yunchan Lim's dynamics, phrasing and choice of tempi didn't quite convince me either I am very excited to hear this concerto again in a few years in another recording by Yuncham Lin, I am sure, this exceptionel young pianist will bring us hours and hours of pure joy!

The second movement, Andante con mote, at 20:26, is becoming more and more important. It is like a slow battle between the orchestra and the piano. The orchestra almost forces the piano to respond on its musical attacks, but the piano refuses for a long time, with only a faint answer. But then, after some time, the piano responds to the orchestra, at first with a somewhat shy attitude, but after a while it let its emotions out, and in the end the piano and the orchestra is united in complete harmony. This is my interpretation of this wonderful movement. Let me also say that Yunchan Lim plays this part wonderful!
