I think he is speaking on behalf of the people he represents... He is using I and me so you all can sing along. Obviously he knows people love him and he is loved. Did he come from a supportive scene of friendS? Do his friends not love him? Do his parents not love him? Only loved people can get away with being so extremely different than the norm of society... Those that don't have love usually wither away so this song is probably an anthem to prove that we all feel this way but we can overcome it

You can really hear the grunge inspiration on this. The pre-chorus is reminiscent of Kurt Cobain’s deep type vocal, and the ‘hey’ parts of the chorus itself SCREAMS Heart Shaped Box.

Um....I think Kurt Cobain did it well before Avril. In 1993 when she was probably a baby. And the music is a copy of Smells Like Teen Spirit. I'm not trashing Yungblud for lifting great Nirvana songs but honestly to say Avril was the influence for the "hey" part....please listen to Nirvana. If you like this, you will love Never mind and In Utero. Plus Teenage Dirt Bag by Wheetus (I don't like Wheetus myself but who cares).

this fellow had some issues with depression purportedly because of their music career not going as planned. I can confidently say that I was one of those people that didn't hate, but def underestimated the talent of YB. I'm a super fan now, privileged to listen to this type of music, fresh and authentic, yet still relatable. Love seeing how much this artist grows

A lot of his influences are from our era: The Clash, Bowie, The Cure. This is the kind of sound I was dancing to in clubs, dressed just like him, in the early 80s. Uses all the same chords in almost exactly the same way. Just discovered this guy at Louder Than Life. He really stood out, very talented, great charisma. Like Ghost to me is a throwback to 80's style pre-thrash heavy metal, Yungblud is a throwback to 80's era new wave punk. Everything about him is, to the way he speaks and stage mannerisms. Really awesome.

@@Danny-wn1gn This entire song is a grunge throwback. How do I know? Cause I was listening to music pre-grunge, and during grunge, and directly post-grunge when grunge was assimilated into the mainstream. This is more like the "punk grunge" that existed in the sound of stuff like Nirvana.
