Missing my dad who passed on early this year, and I came looking for Baba Legba's music. My dad always listened to his tracks, even though I didn't understand it much. Yusuf Olatunji actually mentioned my late grandfather and his late brother on this track. Pa Zaka Olasimbo and Pa Lateef Olasimbo of Ijebu Ode, two brothers who owned Zareco Records, a major distributor of Yusuf Olatunji's music. May all their gentle souls rest in perfect peace. Classic music this is.
I love baba legba 's music a lot even my wife will be asking me what kind of music is this you know this our ajebo wife may your soul rest in peace baba legba
My love for Yusuf Olatunji's (Baba Legba) and his Sakara music was way back from the late 60s up till today because of the melody, proverbs, witty sayings, valuable lessons and historical evidences in his music. These qualities stand his music out amongst his peers and today's music.
Baba i really miss you 😘 a lot
One of the Yoruba most powerful traditional songs. Its natural rendition provides a mix of emotion and reality of existence. Baba Legba, though from Oyo state, born Joseph and turned Yusuf, has revolutionalised sakara music, unarguably.
This is evergreen Sakara music at its best. My father was an avid lover of Yusuf olatunji works. I remember my late father always, whenever I hear Yusuf olatunji works. may Allah repose their souls,Amin.
Anytime I listen to this pa yussuf olatunji music tears drops from my eyes cus it makes me remember those days my dad will wake us up with this music RIP LEGENDS🥲
Now, this is what I called music, not all this D,green and Davido kinda trash they call music... I wish these people were still alive to wax out more inspirational lyrics !
Music that inspires, enlivens and promotes the richness of African originality. Everything about it is natural! Respect for the mastery of the goje by the grandmaster himself, Joseph, no, Yusuf Olatunji (Baba L'Egba). I thank God for the good exposure I had thru my late dad, to this meaningful heartwarming music. I hope my grandchildren would not have to travel to Brazil or the Americans to 'study' dis beautiful genre or indeed, the Yoruba language ! Up Yusuf Olatunji, up Baba L'Egba !
Not only does this great old man music inspires it also educate body and mind he hardly goes to any school or colleges but he as use d natural ideas, knowledge and talent that GoD gives him to benefit humanity more than many professors and religious scholars with is sensible music he thought many people what many lecturers or teachers don't teach in classroom for one reason or d others I could remember most of this older people and some of this other brothers and sisters who are much older than me listening to this great man music and d music of other few people that sing similar to him to educate themselves and decrease d amount of stress that lives brings on d street of most of nigerian cities.reast in peace yusuf olatunji.
@@samsonabdulla7495 Without a doubt, I think you captured the sentiments of a great many people in your perspective of Mr. Yesufu Olatunji musical renderings. He was a sage.
Baba legba use to be my favorite right from my youthful age.My mother of blessed memory was a food vendor at Ogunpa market and the man beside our shop sells palm wine. The man play only Yusuf Olatunji records and that was how I know and I could sing almost all his tracks . That was in late 60s
This unique genre I grew up knowing and appreciating. I say with pride that ours' is a rich culture that deserves much preservation . I solicit much support and assistance for the efforts of one of late Yusuf Olatunji's children, Abideen who currently flies the flag of Sakara. Let the incumbent governor of Ogun state Dapo Abiodun bell the cat.
This is authentic Classical African Blues...My Dad always feel relax and reflective whenever he is playing Baba Legba's music...same thing i do too till today
I give kudos to Pa Yusuf Olatunji of blessed memory. May his soul rest in peace. His songs are always laced with philosophies, hopes, warnings, encomiums, proverbs and core Yoruba values

My most prized gift from my late mum was inheriting her love for the music of the iconic yusuf olatunji possibly the most influential yoruba music act that ever lived
May Allmighty GoD rest him in perfect peace and Forgive him all is sins including the small and big sins they really guide, educate and inspire both old generation,we new generation and d future generation of black people and even anybody that can understand this great and deep language called yoruba look at d reality he is speaking on this track talking from his own personal experience and what happens on daily basis in live, may GoD Allmighty once again forgive and have mercy on him and rest him in peace including my dead parents and all d other people that have contribute one or two things to making my body and my world a better and more intresting place to leave not all muisicians of today can sing deep sense songs that guide humanity like this most of d musician of today only sing about nonsense and even intentionally misleading listeners that can't think properly or guide themselves rest in peace baba legba.
Great, memorable and outstanding music. Hmmm!!! Is it the unique rytheme, contemporary lyrics, special instrumentation and the vocal like a Nightingale? My childhood and adolescence were blessed and graced with Baba Legba works, most joyfully, serenely and dazingly particularly in the early morning hours. Hoping that some budding and talented musicians would develop on this rare genres and foundation. May your soul rest in peace just as your legacy continues to inspire, stimulate and tantalize listeners that appreciate and blend with your great and unforgettable art.
A great icon the stuff of legends. His brand of Sakara was not just music. It was much more than that being in essence the totality of our mores, ethos, values and morality fused together and captured in a musical canvass. The Late Ayinla Omowura put it succinctly when he opined in his memorial album for Baba Legba that Baba took his Goje along with him to the great beyond. He had the artistic quality, fervour and intensity that comes across only in a millennium. No wonder he was able to produce almost effortlessly meaningful lyrics full of inspirational messages and profound thoughtfulness. Rest in peace Baba Legba.
Yùsúfu O̩látúnjí’s contribution to our culture, tradition and heritage can never be forgotten- jealously we are going to guard HIS GÒJÉ and music genre sacredly- We are a people of rich historical backgrounds, we will never allow civilization to destroy lofty cultures like this for us!
music has much to do in our society. when you hear this kind of music you are always calm. people that listen to this dont beat their wives or engage in rm robbery. but now in todays music you will start hearing music that will push you into crime and cultism. Music of todays encorages lots of evil and thats why our country has come down to this level. The government should take control of record compines and ban certain kinds of musics.
This type of music will never die as it is down to earth traditional music that speaks to our roots and hearts, logical in composition, rendition and instrumentation . It teaches sense and lessons more like Sermons for those that understand the song in-depth unlike the modern day hip- hop, R &B and like that teaches and offered discerning listeners nothing. Adieu Pa Yussuf Olatunji a.k.a. Baba Legba.
I was forced to love thia craft by my grandfather, and now I listen in is absence. My words can never be enough to quantify the worth of this maestro... I'm proud to be a Yoruba,I come hail from Egba alake again. What honor 😊

d song remind me of my dad of blessed memory very early in the morning you will hear his Kenwood engine releasing baba legba song track by track if you are in his car you will not hear any lyrics aside baba legba's song.
It reminds me of my childhood days at I jebu-Ode. I schooled at Community Primary School and Luba Comprehensive School all at Ijebu-Ode. We used to have a neigbhorwho plays Baba L'Egba all the night. Now that I am a grown up. I can't do without listening to Yusuf Olatunji even when I am in the midst of my white folks(Spanish) and the will ask me 'asi cantan los Nigerianos' meaning is this how the Nigerian sings and I will this is a special local yoruba jazz. When I listen to these songs late night I do miss home. EgbaAlake, I appreciate your effort for this priceless classics collections.
