10/10. That’s for the anime, the story, the music, the couples and that ending. I’m crying manly tears and not ashamed of it. Yuu and yuuko were also my favorite couple.
4:16 and onward is the peak. The way Yuuko correct Yuu "I love you" to "I *loved* you" and the way Yuu is holding his eyes from blinking is a my favorite. I never thought that small details like that can hold such a big meaning. 2021, and this anime is still one of my favorite anime
A bit context for those who haven't watch this anime. The guy, Yuu, has a habit that he will blink every time he lie. And the girl, Yuuko, is the one who discovered it in the past and point it out to Yuu. He lied in the past to assure Yuuko from her burden, but Yuuko pointed out his blinking habit and didn't believe in him. Some bad stuff happened because of that. He really regret it. And in this scene, He's blinking a lot from 4:54 ... So it's certain that what he's saying onward is all lie... But upon seeing Yuuko is crying, he is trying so hard to hold his eyes from blinking on 5:12. So unlike in the past, this time he hope he can deceive and assure Yuuko. He hope with this, Yuuko can peacefully ascend to heaven without worrying about leaving him behind.
So damned much suffering. To be honest - Yuuko's story still infuriates me, because it's likely based on someone's real life. She never did anything wrong, but at every stage in her life - she was subjected to despicable acts of violence against her - yet she still managed a smile. I realise it's fiction, but fiction is usually inspired by real events and people.
Dear god, I repressed this anime in the deepest voids of my heart and soul. It was three of the more depressing animes I've watched (Both Clannads, 5 Centimeters Per Second, and this). 2008 - 2010 high school was definitely a feels year for me because of those shows. RU-vid randomly recommends this video and now I recommended my fiance to watch as one of her first animes. I'm gonna take her on a feels trip and it's the same exact way I got into anime.
Gotta be real here, it's one of my top 5 because it was my first and it's incredibly overrated and made me cry like a little shit. However, if you want to recommend someone their first anime, go for bebop. You cant go wrong with bebop :)
@@BirdieLouise I disagree that is it is overrate, it was honestly one of the best anime out there the the genre. I do agree that you should not recommend this unless the person is into romance and melodrama.
@@gotouchsomegrasstoday She loved it and gave it a 10/10. Fiance is a weirdo, she's the best kind of weirdo... okay maybe not, her first visual novel was Muv-Luv because she liked the mechs. No, it wasn't my fault, she was already in it before I came. She mostly loves mech and model kits. And now romance and depressing things because of me. We both met during a motorcycle group ride, out of all places.
for new people, an anime that have realistic story is the safest option. and ef is pretty realistic and close to home. it surely will give deeper impact compared with if you recommend them a fantasy mahou shoujo anime(for an example).
+Kaumplex (August) yeah I hear you. This anime is my fave as far as drama romance goes. Yuukos death hit me right in the feels. Before I knew it I was tear eyed. To this day not even anime like clannad can hit me like this. Then again the eyes made me not take it seriously but anyway. What an anime. Truly sad. Loved the story 10/10 - Melodies
The series is still one of my favs but i don't understand one thing does yuu keep on living according to yuuko's wish or not as he tried to hide his pain not blinking at that moment?
Ef ~ A tale of Memories (Season 1) Ef ~ A tale of Melodies (Season 2) Top tier drama/romance anime. Holding back tears while watching this masterpiece is futile, just let the tears flow.
