Sorry if there are any mistakes, please let me know in the comments. I am always learning more about the sport everyday. I just wanted to show my admiration for his jumps/consistency.
Also again thanks Anh and Henni147 for helping make this happen!

After watching this... I feel like his true rival is not the other figure skaters... but the organization itself. ISU should thank him truly....cause even me who comes from tropical south-east asia country knows who Yuzuru Hanyu is and am interested in figure skating now. Not to mention how he embodies the true definition of sportsmanship.

Yuzu said in an interview that now he just could not count on GOE to get high score (probably he knew what ISU was doing) so he had to raise his base score by making his program insane difficulty. He has been pushing this sport for all that time. But my heart hurt every time I saw what they did to him.

It’s a stupid statement if he really did say that. The GOE system is not like the PCS where you compare and rank skaters. GOE is awarded by attaining bullets. For example, even if Yuzu has a more difficult transition into a jump than Nathan, if Nathan does a transition it still counts as a bullet. If Hanyu jumps higher or farther, doesn’t mean Nathan can’t get the height and distance bullet. So the sentiments of stupid fans like you are what’s ruining this sport and casting doubt as to what is essentially a fairly judged sport ( especially singles skate). If you want to complain about judging try ice dance. The truth is Yuzu has never lost a competition he didn’t deserve to lose. So to suddenly complain about GOE scoring which would probably just increase his score by less than 5 points when he’s losing by 40 points is kind of being a sore loser.
@shostakovichsboy5183
@shostakovichsboy5183 3 года назад
@@jamesyu5212 No one was making comparisons. This video makes a point. What's happening is that not every bullet is being awarded as they should. It isn't a good system if the GOE isn't awarded properly because we aren't seeing scoring that actually represents how good this generation of figure skaters is. Also, every athlete is always looking to improve their personal best so it IS disappointing to not have those efforts get recognized. Winning is a good motivator but it's not the only goal.
@jamesyu5212
@jamesyu5212 3 года назад
@@shostakovichsboy5183 well GOE is intended to be ambiguous and room for some interpretation. If they really wanted it to be objective they would quantify everything like what they do in gymnastics. For example, the bullet for height and distance of a jump. It doesnt say the " the hight must be above 1 meter and the distance be at least 2 meters." So you can never blame some judges to award the bullet and others not. So for Yuzu and his apologist like you to complain about the lack of objectivity in goe grading which was always partially subjective is frankly ridiculous and reductive. I understand your point that the current goe system may result in favouritism in judging, but the way you are approaching your fight is wrong. You should call for an overhaul with gymnastics like scoring. For example, a back counter transition to 3A adds 1.5 on the base value or some things like that. That way it will really be objective and points accumulate for every single move a skater makes on the ice. But do not try to fight a fight that youre never gonna win.
@shostakovichsboy5183
@shostakovichsboy5183 3 года назад
@@jamesyu5212 lol please stop talking down as if you've just read a badly done thesis. You're adding to a narrative that I didn't even put out here. All I'm saying is that the system isn't good. And it's not an unsubstantiated opinion either. There's evidence of it that goes beyond subjectivity that we can watch and review ourselves. It's not the natural subjectivity you're referring to. There are clear aspects that can be judged objectively but aren't always. You yourself know which are and which aren't. It doesn't need arguing about. Also, I don't care if it comes across as whiny. Should we never change, for the sake of not seeming whiny, even if we have the capability of making things better?

His 3A is the best period. When Hanyu did the twizzle or back counter entrance and did the difficult exit after all that but he didn't get plus 5 for all that efforts, I lose faith on fair judging. No other men do the same entry and exit variation as Hanyu so when he landed the 3A well, he should get the +5 otherwise no other men deserve to get it.
@figureskatingcow4636
@figureskatingcow4636 3 года назад
There are soooo many elements that Hanyu has performed that literally deserved maximum GOE (example: literally everything in Worlds 2017 FS), but judges just want to underscore him and not give him what he deserves. It's so incredibly unfair.
@yohanes2034
@yohanes2034 3 года назад
@@figureskatingcow4636 yeah because Hanyu always aims for the best so he puts every difficult steps possible before every jump. So the +5 -5 judging system should play to his strength because he has been aiming for all 6 bullets (if he can do it all) since before this system came into play. So when he executes the jumps well he should get all the bullet points that he deserves. Unfortunately, he has been judged using different standard among his peers.

@@figureskatingcow4636 I think it has to do with jump difficulty. So if you land a triple jump, you will never really get a +5 because it makes landing the harder jumps less preffered or favoured. It is much clearer that Yuzuru is the only skater that has maintained the ideal and perfect forms and techniques of all the jumps. Many non-Yuzuru fans are cheering for other skaters' number of jumps, I.e. how many, or how "wild" their jumps, not paying attentions to the proper technicality or the GOE itself, which requires 6 points of guidelines. ISU judges' "favoritism and biased judgements" are, as they have been, obvious and evident. Now is the time for the ISU to re-evaluate their own misguiding mindset.

Hanyu's correct and beautiful jumping techniques should be more valued, more recognized and more appreciated, and known, for not only Hanyu himself or the present young skaters, but for the future of figure skating. To judge or appreciate his correct techniques the judges also should learn sincerely more about techniques, and develop their aesthetic eyes. If not, I can predict that, when Hanyu leaves the competitions figure skating will surely lose its popularity over the whole world.

A comparison of yuzu's and nathan's salchow can show the slightly different technique. Yuna Kim does it the same way as nathan, Javi does it the same with yuzu. No wonder Yuzuru is so nice to his rivals! Despite Nathan being his greatest rival, he is still friendly with him because he knows Nathan didn’t give him low scores. (Even though he would still love his opponents if they were overscored) His rival is the judges, not Nathan, because if he got the GOE and the PCS he deserves, you know Nathan wouldn’t hold a candle to him. Don’t get me wrong, Nathan has great jumping technique as well, but he doesn’t have creative entries or exits and not very artistic transitions like Yuzuru does, so Nathan would probably get +3 GOE for good takeoff and exit, height and ice coverage and body position, which would give him +3.

@figureskatingcow4636
@figureskatingcow4636 3 года назад
I don't know! There are so many jumps he does where he hits ALL the bullets, yet the judges refuse to give him maximum GOE. There's lots of talk of ISU being "against" Hanyu and trying to underscore him, or the judges just may be reluctant to give out maximum GOE. Whatever it is, it's not fair. One thing to know for sure is that ISU is corrupt as hell and leave it to them to do stuff like this.

Personally I think the judging method of figure skating gives a lot room for bias. Skaters can't challenge the score they are given. Also it seems that judges don't get compensated very well, so they are more likely to accept bribery and favor skaters from certain countries.

ISU vice president Lakernik has admitted in recent interview that they had to underscore Brian Orser's student b/c he was winning too many titles by large margins, and breaking too many WR, and they didn't want him to continue doing that, they wanted NEW STARS other than him... that's why they changed +3/-3 scoring system, b/c there is more room for judges to manipuIate GOE under +5/-5 scoring system...

I'm a Japanese fan. ISU's unjustified scoring cannot be tolerated. 😑 in my opinion They were hungry for a new star to replace Hanyu. For money and national honor. I presume that collusion took place in multiple countries. It was very hard to see Hanyu making a disappointing look on his score. Many people still misunderstand. Hanyu is not a big deal. Other players have won consecutive battles. Hanyu's score is now mediocre and overrated because he is handsome. .. 😢 I hope that a video like this will tell the truth to as many people as possible. 😊 Thank you very much.

Your analysis of Yuzu's technique is spectacular. You've proven that the technicalities of his jumps are far superior to probably every other skater out there. But that's only half the work. If the judges are underscoring him (and I don't doubt that they are), show the evidence of that. Compile a video of all the jumps where he was underscored. Also include which program he was doing at the time and which competition he was in when it happened so that people can fact check if they wish. Also, rescore him by telling us what you think he should have gotten. This would make your argument irrefutable. Show, don't tell, otherwise it looks like you leaped to a conclusion prematurely. *I am not telling you this to criticize you, I am telling you this so that you can present a stronger, more compelling argument.* So that no one who watches this video will walk away thinking that Yuzu is being judged fairly.

There actually is against pre rotated toe jumps. On page 20 of the ISU technical panel handbook under pre rotated jumps are listed as “Cheat take-off” and are described as “A clear forward (backward for Axel type jump) take-off will be considered as a downgraded jump.” All of those skaters should be getting their jumps downgraded but until the ISU allows jumped to be judged in slow motions this rule will never be enforced.
@ashuraalexis
@ashuraalexis 3 месяца назад
People who don't skate tend to misunderstand this, but the rule is not about "pre-rotated" jumps, but about things like the "toe-axel" or "toe-waltz", where for example a toe-loop doesn't take off form a backward outside edge but from a forward edge (basically, the non-picking foot rotates forward on the ice before passing the picking foot). The sentence following the one you quoted is actually highlighting this: "A clear forward (backward for Axel type jump) take off will be considered as a downgraded jump. The toe loop is the most commonly cheated on take-off jump."

@figureskatingcow4636
@figureskatingcow4636 3 года назад
I'm glad this video helped you with learning the jumps! And for roller skates, it kind of depends;; If you have quad skates (2 wheels in front, 2 in the back), those have a toe stop (which you can use in place of a toepick) and I believe you can do jumps on those ~ just look up artistic roller skating For inlines however, many inlines don't have toe stops. I actually have inline skates and they come with only 4 wheels in a line and nothing else. Because they don't have an inside edge or outside edge nor a toe stop, I can't do figure skating jumps on them. HOWEVER- there are manufacturers like Picskates and snow white inlines which are designed to imitate figure skates. However these can be quite expensive ($400+) and they're also in high demand since many rinks are still closed. Also when you get roller skates, it will take a bit of time to adjust to it, and so it's good to be patient and build your foundation first. It will take a bit of practice before you can start safely attempting jumps. Anyway, good luck, and thanks for watching!!

I think the changing of the rules of the jump transitions and the other change can't remember what it was right after the Olympics was the last straw for Yuzu. That made his mind up. They just screwed themselves though. They made these changes to make it more easier for other skaters to win. Without Yuzu making the effort to advance skating he turned Pro. I don't blame him at all. Why should he continue when his ability isn't recognized already.
