True both sides need to do better because a lot of black Americans go out of their way to ridicule and bully black immigrants. While a lot of black immigrants call black Americans lazy and undermine them. We need to all do better understand and respecting each other.

@@reallll2778 ...yea...but we were all ridiculed ...jz part of being black lol. However African Americans have a history of contributing to the development of the African continent...we've built schools, roads, libraries etc.. black immigrants have no history of every contributing to Black America's development...it's a lopsided relationship. African Americans will always be more "loyal" to African than they'll ever be loyal to us because our history is rooted in Africa....it's an interesting relationship. I live in Ghana half the year. It's home

@@jsanders2004 Telling Africans they come from mud huts, are monkeys and should go back to their countries is not something everyone goes through. Most African countries are new I feel like that’s why they haven’t done as much as they could. Because African countries like Ghana and Kenya have made efforts to reconnect with. Black Americans and Carribeans. Marcus Garvey was a black immigrant and there are countless black immigrants in America fighting a long side black Americans. It’s not a lob sided relationship because some African countries are making the effort to reconnect. I love all black people across the globe but nobody can play innocent in these diaspora war because all parties are guilty and need to do better

I wanted to chip in on Orji's comments about being bullied by people who look like me". As Africans and other melanated folks in the diaspora, we need to understand the historical, political, and social factors that shape this dynamic. Many black people moving to the U.S. are usually not be sensitive to the black American experience and could unintentionally reinforce negative stereotypes created by whites, like the notion that black Americans are lazy. We often question why Africans seem to succeed in the States while black Americans don’t, without considering the systemic issues stacked against them. When Africans believe they’re superior to black Americans, it’s no wonder they’re not welcomed with open arms. No community will welcome you when you harbour negative views about them. We should also look at the forces driving this division and realize that there’s nothing to gain from being being divided. I'm disappointed that the host and Orji missed the opportunity to promote unity in this interview and instead told her story from a victim's stand point, which could just fuel more hate and division.

You’re right that a lot of Black immigrants don’t understand the Black American struggle and call Black Americans lazy. But a lot of Black Americans go out of their way to ridicule and disrespect black immigrants. Every study shows that black immigrants face the most discrimination out of all other immigrants groups. Both sides need to do better understanding each other. I love all black people across the globe but we have to treat each other better because racist white people hate all of us. I love Black Americans, Caribbean’s and Africans. I just hope we all start showing each other more respect and understanding and not invalidate each other experiences.
