Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

The enemy always uses the same tactic of divide and conquer, even in hip-hop. Going amongst the righteous people telling lies and keeping us at each others throat.

This is IQ of Northside Productions Inc /Northside Records The first Record label to release PRT before making a production deal with Profile and The Executive Producer and Producer of Speaking Upon A Blackman and Word from the Wise from the Holy Intellect Album. With all do respect YZ , You are telling a fabricated tale that is not true and not in factual. I am from Trenton NJ a OG Born and raised and lived in the Projects of Divineland and is here too debunk your story because you are not from Trenton you are from Highstown NJ far out side of Trenton and Tony D is from Ewing NJ also from the out skirts of Trenton and all that we are the world talk is not true You know me YZ, Tony D was a great beat maker and DJ but that was it period. None of you had made IQ plans or had a unseen hand in the PRT meeting I was the G that setup the meeting in my home office in Brunswick Ave in 1989. You had no idea of what you was stepping into that day. I personally had to calm the young wolves that wanted to eat your flesh From Divineland that day I remember everything it was raining that day you was food. Your diss was about me and how me and my Posse got the money to release the records and cassette tapes on Northside Record. Now if anyone want to know the real story when it comes to the meeting between PRT and YZ, I’m here to spit the facts about it all. Me and James Lee. YZ and Tim B? Of Diversity Records was not our friends back then at all and Tony D played both sides of the fence. IQ

There are people who are just ignorant(in all facets). And that doesn't necessarily have to do with race. A lot of time it's exposure. So, a 15 year old black child from New Jersey not knowing who YZ is doesn't ripple the water with me. 9 times out of 10 with a young, black youth from the inner city, they are in survival mode. And, although they may listen to Hip-Hop, it is not feeding them. They are facing bigger issues other than who is the best rapper out at the time. One thing that I've always noticed about white people who really live and breathe Hip-Hop is that they are never from the 'hood. They are in position to absorb this form of music because they have the means to purchase it and devote time and attention to it. And it's a lot easier to be a die hard Hip-Hop fan under those circumstances.
