I usually test trans to see if shifts like it should. Trans in ,cases together and test trans by shifting through the gears. It works then pull left case off and then install crank and finish engine.

Did you say that this is a balanced crank? As in it won't vibrate like a normal YZ250? If so, that is awesome. I hope it is as smooth and balanced as a KTM.

It is balanced and should reduce vibrations a lot. Won't be as smooth as the new KTM's but way better than a normal YZ

I jambed my pinky finger between the clutch gear and crank gear years ago on my TRX250R . The gear drove up through my finger tip on one side and through the finger nail on the other side . I had to turn it backwards to get my finger out. I did some swearing, washed my finger and wrapped it in paper towel and black tape and continued putting the motor together. Never made that mistake again. Have used a copper penny to hold everything while tightening that clutch a few times since.

So glad im done trying to do transmission games with my yz300 i wanted to make a wr yz 300 but the wr transmission wouldn't work correctly lost 5 th gear every time.

I put a Tusk clutch in a RMX250 before I sold it. It seemed to work fine while I had it.

I’ve got a 2001 steel frame yz 250 that I need to rebuild the engine on or buy a new engine I’m not sure what I want to do yet I may just have to because the piston broke and fell into the bottom end locking it up I don’t know if the case is cracked yet or if any of the gears in the transmission have been effected by the broken piston pieces .

The timing is set through spark plug hole with dial indicator. .007 was stock but i always preferred. 004 for woods.

I got a free curb find oven to put in my shop for heating cases for bearing install and removal. They usually fall right out and go in just as easily after a few minutes in the oven.

@@highlandcycles Factory Wrench Tools makes the jigs, they have a 3D printed version as well as a 6061 T6 Aluminum billet version.

I have used tusk clutch stuff. I ended up slipping at the full power range and found out that the steals where smaller by 0-.001. that added up to like 7 or 8 thou. I never noticed while trail riding.. I ended up reusing the stock steal plates and all was good for me at that time.. I think that I what is in my bike now.,,...just have toCOVAS

a just replaced my primary drive gears and thought it wasn't aligned with the clutch drive gear properly but yours looks the same only running on the outer half of the primary drive gear seems like Yamaha didn't design that very well
