Let us not forget how Yzma's iconic nature came from the fabulous and absolutely incomparable Eartha Kitt, a black singer and actress of absolute elegance and talent who generously provided us with her voice acting and sadly passed away in 2008. May she rest in peace.
YES Eartha was truly mesmerizing ❤️❤️ I'll be completely honest in saying I had no idea she voiced Yzma until yesterday WHOOPS, shows how observant I am 🙃🙃🙃🙃 but now I love Yzma EVEN MORE lol
I am eternally grateful to Disney for one thing: preserving Eartha as Yzma and as Madame Zeroni (in Holes). I'm just so happy I get to raise my kid on those movies.
Can I just mention that the voice of Yzma was another queen: Eartha Kitt. She sang "Santa Baby" and "I Wanna Be Evil". Such a confidently unique singer and actress. Also please look up this amazing video of her talking about relationships. She is such a queen haha! "Eartha Kitt speaks on relationships: compromise for what?"
I just watched the Interview with Eartha Kitt because of your recommendation and thank you it was really great to see and hear 😄 The way she laughed at the question that you have to compromise when you are in a relationship and her quote: „I fall in love with myself and I want someone else to share it with me“ Is so true 😌 I was like the queen has spoken 👏👏👏 No but seriously I think the most healthiest relationships are between people who love themself. I didn’t watch The Emperor‘s new Groove in English so I think I may would never looked up Eartha Kitt. But thanks to you and your recommendation I did 😄👍
@nicole sands Right on sister!! That remains one of the most formative highlights of my ‘70s childhood: watching Batman after school and seeing Ertha Kitt as Catwoman. Katy bar the door! Catwoman’s in town. I always wished she could have had her own show!
I was babysitting and the dog got a magnet that was pretty flat off the fridge and was chewing it and i had to wrestle a 1 year old black lab for a magnet....not fun
Emperor's New Groove is literally my FAVE!!!! It is a highly quoted movie in my family. Our personal favorites from Yzma are of course, wrong lever, but also: "I'll turn him into a flea! Yes, a harmless little flea. I'll put him in a box, and then put that box in a box, and that box in a box, and that box in a box and then I'll mail it to myself and smASH IT WITH A HAMMER!" And "looking for this? Wait, is that my voice? Is that... MY voice? Oh well." And my PERSONAL FAVORITE, "it is no concern of mine whether your family has-- what was it again?" (Food) "HA! You really should have thought about that before you became peasants!"
I watched the “wrong lever” bit on Instagram with my kids and they loved it. My daughter thought it was the funniest thing in the world and my baby boy laughed simply because she did (looking at her for laughing-cue) and I thought it was so cute, that we did this for 5 minutes straight. Thanks for making my day 🤗

Yes mine too! I used to have quite a few throat aches and often lost my voice a bit as a kid. And when it happened i'd always repeat this line to my siblings. Great fun!

Love the outfit. I think that big curly cue in Yzma's hat was an ostrich feather. Also some over exaggerated beaded lashes would be an excellent substitute for Yzma's original lashes.
OMG I love this look! Yzma has sort of an old Hollywood flair already, so 30s was the perfect decade for her! And Frodo is the perfect companion, as always. 🥰❤️

Once my best friend read a bit of them and she was like- You're reading it because Main Character's Uncle is the kind of character you've always found hot, isn't it? Real friends kink shame your arse unshamedly. Buy the way, Magnus, the character is 40. I'm allowed to imagine him hot.
The "pull the lever" scene is actually the audio for my phone's ringtone, so I was trying to remember that my phone wasn't ringing every time you played that clip. 🤣🤣
Yzma is SUCH a queen. Ugh! Love this and I'm so happy to know that there are others out there who like that movie too! YES! I always prefer villains to the heroes, cause they're so witty and funny.

We sure do have fun here! I enjoyed watching Rachel sew the dress, and laughed at her funny jokes. My favourite bit is when she pretends to fall down a trap door after "Kronk" pulls the wrong lever, and then the camera shows Frodo looking so adorable with his Kronk hat on!! If you do a Make it Vintage of Effie Trinket or Columbia from Rocky Horror it would make my life!! Both have so much potential and even trying to do a regular cheap DIY-version of each in the past has been a huge but rewarding challenge.
The thing about the Emperor's New Groove is, based on Yzma's clothing you have to conclude that either: 1) she is a time traveler or 2) the movie takes place in modern-day. Because she is dressed like a 1920's flapper during the time of the...(checks notes, doesn't have any notes) Incas? Aztecs? Anyway, she is a lady from another era. And since she is also a witch/scientist, I vote for time traveler as well.

I finally got a chance to read your tattoo. I’m almost crying now. It just hit me right in my coronary area. It.... it has been a week out here. Coronavirus and now rioting (oh and Sahara sand.... which, depending on who you wanna believe is very toxic..... honestly some times I just don’t know which news to believe anymore, some times they hype shit up, some times they leave crucial shit out.... anyway..... end of rant) And no, I do not live in the US.
