It's fairly obvious this is the best torpedo DD in the game and you just don't want anybody else to get it. You've literally never landed that many torps ever, nuff said.
Finaly I could partisipate as an extra. I was the Grönnigen. In my defends I have to say that I was afk ribon farming for the porto rico and only notice who I just ran into as I saw the kill feed.
Fletcher is one of my favorite dd's because of that. I don't remember the reload. Isn't it around 80s, maybe? Initially, I had a bit of difficulty with the shell arcs at long range, but once I dialed that in, I loved the ship. The US smoke time makes farming with guns great, too.
I'd be happy with better gun angles tbh. Everything else seems okay about this ship, especially after the concealment buff it received couple of patches earlier.
I've only seen potatoes use this ship, and as you guessed, they always perform poorly the fact you could buy this t9 ships outright with cash pushed all the trash players to buy a ticket to high tier matches
As we have seen in the evidence above, WG cant even nerf this ship by removing one torpedo rack. This leads to the final solution that Z-44 is the most overpowered ship in the game. Life sentence for playing it, case closed.
Making them look good is just a testament to his skill in the game. He could easily do more with a better dd. People just look at the gameplay and don't listen to the information.

IMO Pommern is the better ship out of the two, you have both torpedos and more guns. Go full secondary build with IFHE and you’re golden. FDG has bigger guns, sure, but they’re so inaccurate that it makes them nearly useless
Big fan! Here's the thing about the Z-44, it's not a bad ship, it's just not as good as the options you have available. Yugumo, Fletcher, Benham, and the Dutch are all better options for torping and Z-46, Jutland, the Black, Freisland, and Kita are just flat out much better ships to use. I like the Z-44. I enjoy using the ship. It is absolutely not worth the money!!!!!!!! Use coal or go home. The Z-46 is better in every way. Request: Ship Smasha
Always coming out with the most informative and honest ship reviews. Long time players already know how bad Z-44 is but new players most likely won't. Malta out here providing an invaluable service free of charge saving a player from wasting coal on a ship that is worse in every aspect other than torp range. It was a neat concept when announced but it just gives up too much for slightly better torps.
I hate the trade-off Z-44 has to make for its torps. Worse than regular per-fish alpha (which is already rather crappy on German DDs), really bad guns (which should've been left behind in Tier VIII), worst firing angles on any German DD (that Z turret's angles are positively horrendous, would it have killed them to give it Maass's angles) and no utility beyond flooding caps. Give Z-44 a short range hydro like the RN DDs and it would be such a quality of life upgrade. As is, Z-44 feels mediocre for Tier VIII never mind Tier IX. Oddly, re: Z-46 I prefer it over the Z-52 as it goes, despite playing the latter a bit more lately. Well played game, BTW, Big Fan!
@@JohnWilliams-sq7cj Because of the damage output it doesn't even have personal throw weight 'cos supership (and a lot of the meta Tier X at that) BB HP and torpedo protection values are so high, a Z-44 torp-hit is more or less the same as a couple regular artillery pens. It relies on everything else around the torp hit (including friendlies with hands and enemies without hands) to actually accomplish anything. Like, I have the Z-44 (and occasionally have fun in it) if only because it was the only premium German DD I could get without spending cash, but man, I can get work done but it's always so much more effort than it's worth. Definite case of at least some buyer's remorse.
@@AidanDracole This is very true as even the torps don't do alot of damage. I had a 44 torp mey musashi in a ranked battle and it was comical, two full racks, just laughed him off and wonder or wonders my secs blanked him. If it was any other t9 dd, especially kita, benham , nuesta, I would've been wrecked. A concealment buff doesn't do much for the 44 since it's guns flat out suck , has no hydro for some reason which is weird.
@@JohnWilliams-sq7cj Yep, honestly can't disagree. Even among available gunboats, some have torp loadouts better suited to smacking BB broadsides (Mogador/Kita with TRB for example). Some combination of short-ranged hydro, increased torp alpha and a better smoke screen would bring Z-44 up to competitiveness as a torp boat, I think. German smokes are so sad, LOL
I have been watching this nerd for a few months, he seems to know his stuff. when I'm drunk and I need to fall asleep I play this dude and I feel like I'm in a French bakery, with nice cakes. Something about his voice I go to sleep right away. I have no idea what he is talking about must of the time but who cares. Good times
"I hate this ship. This ship is not as good as the premium." That's what he says, and then he goes out and does this in it when it's lost half of its primary armament. You're not exactly making the case for not buying it! Yes, the Yugumo has same-range torps for more damage, but if it's a GERMAN premium destroyer you want - e.g. for Lutjens - then the Yugumo isn't exactly useful to you! The only reason I haven't got it is because the extra torp range over Z-46 isn't useful in co-op. It's basically half a Benham, but at least it's still available while the Benham is not.
I talk about why I don't like it, regardless of getting a good game in it at the end in my summary section, I feel like I went fairly into detail, and talked well about the Z-46. I personally prefer Z-46 and that is my personal opinion, Z-46 is also free, so it's much better for the general population, then me to just straight lie, and say I like Z-44, which I do not.

However, while saying all that, you turned in a performance in the Z-44, even when crippled, which the majority of players in this game would be pleased to call their own. As far as 'free' is concerned, the Z-44 is also free - if you are willing to save up the coal for it. Show me ANY other German premium destroyer in the game right now which can be had without spending cash money/doubloons.
