It's so hard to pay nearly an extra $1000 though. I can buy a speeate tablet for much less and will you risk travelling with these big bulky things once pickpoctets figure out these are around, I'm sure they'll be swiping them. You cpukd carry it in your pickpocet proof wallet byt the fold i think wou l d be noiceable byt only cause it's sorta thick Honestly,if i can get over an extra $1000 almost, I'd risk taking it. GOTTA Have google translate as well as GPS whenever i go to any other country. SO SORRY, I forgot my point and ranted bout nada.
Gaming on the zfold 4 changes things a lot. Emulate anything old game made for crt tvs and BAM that entire display fills up. It's freakin glorious. Same when watching old movies or tv shows. Or old 4:3 anime.
Dex!!! You completely left out Samsung Dex mode. It let's you run a windows style OS off the phone when you connect it to a TV, monitor or projector and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The fold is a phone, tablet and PC all in one.
The chip in the zfold 4 is an emulation beast. Able to have a history of games from nes to playstation 2 in your pocket....especially if you have 512gb. Plus the 4:3 aspect ratio is great for retro gaming. I love the z fold 4. Plus a file system you can copy large art files to pc with ease. And Dex mode is awesome. I came from the apple eco and I can't think of going back....but I do miss procreate.
@@pedrozurita6846 The emulators I use the most are AetherSX2 for PS2, Dolphin for Gamecube/Wii, DraStic for NDS, Citra for 3DS, Duckstation for PSOne, Redream for Dreamcast, Snes9xEx for SNES. There are so many more but these are my favorites. ROMS you have to find separately.
Great video.... I'm loving my Z fold four for that gorgeous large screen and epic multitasking. Just upgraded from a Note 10 plus. Really hoping Samsung can make the fold 5 outside screen as wide as a note 10 Increase battery power And house the s pen inside the device.
I had a 10th gen iPad ru-vid.comUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
Looking at the leaked power of the snapdragon 8 gen 2 the plus version on the z fold 5 would be insane. The next foldable will indeed be a piece of tech to own.
You are missing a very huge point there in favor of the Z Fold line up: font size. The small font size on the iPad mini makes it very difficult to use on extended time, and multitasking can be done only in landscape left& right, no other option. On the zfold you screen left/right or top/bottom in landscape or portrait + the possibility to have 3 apss at once.
Great video but you forget the advantage for fold 4 in camera. The main camera is way better than camera on any tablet. On top of that, the ability to use main camera in selfy mode 🙂
That’s true, but I would never use my tablet to take photos, so that’s why I didn’t consider it. I personally just pull out my phone, but the z fold 4 definitely has better cameras
I huge part of this device is that it's a vloggers dream device. The cameras are great, video stabilization is super and the options for using the cover screen asa monitor all in one hand are all worth the cost.
It’s a comparison of the tablet aspect of the Z fold 4. Remember the Z fold 4 is $1800 and iPad mini is $500. But I made sure to say it’s like a phone and tablet in one. If im going to compare cameras, than I would have to bring the iPhone in and compare it that way. The truth is nobody really uses their iPad to take photos, just like it would be unfair to say iPad is better because it’s much cheaper
Your making the right choice if the rumors are true the Z Fold 5 is gonna be unlike any other Foldable or non Foldable phone. It's gonna be a whole new design better camara bigger inner and front screen and better specs and more.
I've got the Fold 3, won't upgrade till the Fold 5 ... 4 doesn't offer enough for me to upgrade to. I use my Fold 3 as my everything device, it has 100% replaced my PC.
Only comparison that makes actual sense.. kudos to being realistic for the video.. i gave a thumbs up. I wished more poeple realized fold 4 is a folding tablet.. more than a phone.. samsung just puts it into the phone category because there are more people out in the market to buy phone rather than a tablet.
I've always thought that the Samsung Fold 4 lacked at least 4mm in width and 1cm in height, and this comparison with the iPad Mini confirms my thoughts.
@@davidaguero451 Otherwise, the previous message and this one are sent from an S21, and the last time I used an iPhone as my main smartphone must have been with the iPhone 7 Plus, and it didn't last 3 months. I've always been a Samsung user, but if I find there's a way to improve something in hardware or software, I'll say so even if I'm a Samsung fan. 🙏🏽
@@DFwire that's just a lie, we probably made a thousand polls on that topic over on the foldable subreddit and the best estimate is that around 5% of folds will break on their own (in their lifetime). I've had my fold2 for over 2y now, I probably dropped it hundreds of times, I gave it to my friends (who also had to drop it a few times), it landed in 40cm deep snow, it landed in sand, it got scratched up with long fingernails and it's in use pretty much 24/7 and it doesn't show any sign of breaking (all that without a case btw) :) incredibly durable phone and that was only their second gen
Great video. Your points include most of how I justified the cost of my Z Fold 3 which was less than list with trades. You never even mentioned the fact that there is access to 5G cell service with the Z Fold.
I am waiting for the next one, Fold Z 5. I am sure that it would remove the crease and have better battery life. I hope they make it a little bit longer so that they can get optimal ratio of any contents.
Samsung said it has to have the crease in order to fold and not wear and tear so soon. But yes a samsung slide phone would eliminate that issue guaranteed
Crease is actualy not big deal you hardly ever notice it and you do opening or closing it you get that old school book feeling, i dont see my self upgrade to fold 5 because of the crease internal pen i also come from note 20 ultra and i perfer to carry the bigger pen that also on the case gives great grip for hold the phone in tablet with one hand
What amazes me about the ipad mini. Even if you buy the LTE version, you still cant make regular phone calls. Apple know that would eat into iphone sales.
I'd say Samsung Pencil is better for two reasons: - Screen conducts electricity to the pencil which has a coil, which allows for a button on the pencil and to point where it is even when not touching the screen - Does not need to be charged to function Samsung has a pro version of the pencil which allows for bluetooth remote with gestures and all like a magic wand (Air Actions), but is charged through a usb-c cable, I'd have wished for it to charge wirelessly with something on the phone
The biggest problem with the Z Fold 4 is it’s too thick as a phone when not in tablet mode. I really wanted to love it and I hope they improve this form factor.
I understand why people would be turned off to that thickness, but I like it. I usually add an extra battery case or something thick to my phones to get em thicker and heftier in the hand
A 256GB iPad mini with wifi+cell and an apple pencil is $928 before tax 😂. My 512GB zf4 was $1143 after trading in an old broken s10+ 😁. I bought the pencil for $25.
Any advice? I’m currently considering between a new iPad Mini or a used Z-fold 3, both of which would run me about $500. I already have an iPhone XR (soon to upgrade to 15 Plus) and an iPad Air 2022, so I wouldn’t be getting a cellular plan on either one, both would be *just* as a tablet. Features I’m interested in for the Mini are - I used to have one (2013 model) and it felt *amazing* to use, my favorite form-factor I’ve ever held - it would work with my iCloud purchases I’ve already made, and all the other Apple integration I’ve already set up on devices I have - I remember that my old one was *great* for handheld gaming, typing, and content consumption However, I’m worried that it would be redundant. It might be the *best* way to do all the things I’d normally do on my phone, but my phone’s adequate as-is and I’m getting a bigger one soon, and I’d be juggling two iPads On the other hand, a Z-fold 3 is interesting to me because - it’d be an “in” to the Android space - I’ve always wanted to try one out but I don’t want to completely cut myself off from iMessage, there are a few Android features that Apple simply doesn’t have and I’m curious which feature set I’d like best overall - as a folding device, I could more easily take it with me anywhere I went, so I’d have an Apple phone and an Android phone/tablet everywhere However I’m worried that perhaps the reason why a 2021 Z-fold is over two thirds off is because it’s not gonna functionally last a lot longer. The fact that there are so many “for parts” listings where the screen is broken at the fold doesn’t help my confidence either. Two others options that are on the table - just use a 6.7-inch iPhone and an 11-inch iPad because they cover all my smart device needs, and spend the ~$500 on something else like a PS5 - wait for the Google Fold to come out and then drop in price, as I like the idea of Google’s phones and would be interested to demo the OS and potentially switch from iPhone+folding tablet to just a folding phone in the future Any advice?
I think you can stick to the apple eco system with iPad Air that you already have, or buy one and sell the old one. Not much benefit from partially switching from apple to android, given that you don't have a cellular connection on it and given that you are already in the apple's eco system. Forget Pixel fold and ZF3 issues, as a ZF4 user Pixel fold is way behind the ZF in every aspects and not much issue with the ZF's durability. But just considering your general usage, not really reasonable to buy ZF. Only If you are a tech geek or really want to have folding experience, then you can go for ZF3.
I didn't read your full statement but I'm one of those people who carry my s22 ultra and an ipad mini along with it. With the line of work I'm in, the sensitivity of the inner screen and the subpar battery life mentioned, I can't do a fold. I'm waiting until apple comes out with an ipad mini with 120htz, ambled screen and the latest phone chip when it comes out. I would then sell both my samsung and ipad mini 6 for the ipad mini 7 and be totally happy.
@@johnnyquest2651 I actually had ended up deciding that I do plan on getting a folding phone, BUT I’m gonna wait until about 5 years from now for the next time I’m upgrading my phone and just have it be my one and only phone - I had been going through an obsessive phase about tech in general when I was thinking about a secondary phone, and it’s really not needed.
I prefer the aspect ratio of the iPad but. Wish the z Fold would be this size but with the going horizontal and so it would be thicker, and not a thin small cover screen.
Once folding phones get bigger and slimer they are the future of next generation devices who wants a boring slab when it can do even more if it could fold out into a decent work surface
An Iphone 14 pro with 512 is $1299 from Apple direct and the ipad mini 256 is $549 from Amazon. Apple was willing to give me a whole $250 for my Note 20 ultra making the price after trade in at $1600. I just purchased the Zfold 4 from Samsung. I got an educational price plus $400 off and $1000 for my Note 20 ultra. Total ended at $500. And I only need to carry one device but I'll have my tablet with me at all times.
@@smartphonefan5226 this didn't age well , with the new ipad OS 16 and new Stage Manager, 3 apps at the same times are a flawless experience that samsung can't ever dream of. Gl and carry on !
@@ofensatul Thought I am not specific like my Fold4, the floating window does make my note taking and article writing much more convenient. Which I do not know whether Apple will develop it in a decade.
Hello I noticed you have the JW library. My brother!!!!! Thinking of switching from my iPhone 13 Pro Max to the fold 4 so it’s so convenient at the meetings
the zfold has an oled panel but the black bars due to the zfolds plastic and highly reflective display, when watching videos looked blacker on the ipad.
i have the ipad M1 pro. and the Z fold 5.Every aspect of the FOLD 5 is great, but the quality of the sound is not that good even the Dolby Atmos is ON, compare to my old Ipad the quality of the sound is great
I want to buy a z fold 4 but that price tag sheeeshh and still no dust resistance is a big bummer cuz i take my phones everywhere and make them go through everything
So i have an s21 plus and if i were to get the fold i must sell it on the other hand i have an iPhone 11 pro so if i get the mini I’ll be looped into apple ecosystem, but am digging the fold still
That's a narrow point of view. No reason they can't stick a sd card with sim card like they used to. Only reason they don't is because they want to extract more money from people for higher priced internal storage.
The Apple pen doesn't really have a place to carry either. Except with some magnets, you could Jerry rig something like that, and you wouldn't even have to use child labor!
I just saw this comparison and am one of the few that carries the ipad mini alongside a phone. 1. I don't trust the durability of the inner screen of a fold 2. The baterry life has been reported as subpar in folds as a whole 3. The cost of owning the s22 ultra and the ipad mini is pretty close to what the fold cost and the elpencil in the s22 ulta has more functions than the one on the fold. 4. Ipad os is much better than android 12l. Not to mention that the a15 chipset is better than qualcom. I could keep going, but though I'm in the minority,I'vee never seen the draw to a smartphone that folds. If apple would make an ipad mini pro with all the bells and whisles of a smartphone but keep ipad os and force the carriers to carry calls and text on i, I'd honestly ditch my s22 ultra.
I really hate commenting this under every second video because I don't want to sound like a fanboy but reviewing the fold4 as a 1800$ device doesn't make much sense in my eyes as noone will get this phone at retail price anymore. Even at the point of this video (wich is 3 weeks prior to this comment) you could easily find ones going for ~1200 in most places. At that price it makes much more sense than at 1800 and I think that's what we should consider not some hypothetical value from a few months back that only lasted like a week xD
I think Samsung's mistake is to have wanted to make the Fold (too) compact to be quite easily usable with one hand when it is folded. But above all the error is to have only one size of Fold. Samsung should consider releasing 2 Folds, one smaller in height, much like the Oppo Find N but with an outer screen not as wide as the Oppo but 3mm wider than the current Fold 4, and a much taller one that when unfolded will be as long and wide (a little wider by 3 - 4mm would be ideal) than an iPad Mini 6, and who would have the pencil integrate like the Notes . And also, Samsung should consider putting a screen like the Oppo N2 Flip's exterior screen next to the rear photo sensors. But I know very well that they will do none of that, on the other hand, I am convinced that another manufacturer will do it and I even think that it will be Apple when they go into the folding market.
@@TechVerveyt thank you!... Do you have verses on the right side while reading the watchtower for example... On both portrait and landscape? Is there even a difference in landscape mode in the app or anywhere else?
I'm dying for the Apple iPhone Fold but it feels like it'll never come out. I very much want a folding phone so I can go with just one device but I don't want to leave the Apple iOS universe. Ugh!!!!!
Apple's foldable will be a flip, and you wouldn't get a folding style phone from them until they change their business model. Part of why the iPad and iPadOS has stagnated is because Apple doesn't want it to become a true laptop replacement because that would eat into Mac sales. Likewise, if Apple made a fold style folding phone that does everything the IPhone and iPad does, it would cut into iPad sales, which they don't want. Apple's painted themselves into a corner with their "We want customers to own each part of the ecosystem" model.
The ipad fails because its like having an over grown iPhone! Lol. The fold can be used as a portable folding note pad that can also do dex making it into a mini computer! Im planing on getting a fold as a note pad an my light exel use with the pen.
Comes down to whether u can use android as your phone… I have both but apple is the most user friendly phone on the market even though Samsung has lots of very cool features
Why is Apple the most user-friendly phone in the world in your HIGHLY subjective opinion? My very first cellular phone dating back 25 years ago was a hand me down from my wife with all the latest and greatest Android features and never encountered a problem that I felt bothered enough to switch to any other O/S.
My iPad Mini 6 overheats and freezes in hot humid weather, has a poor display and wasteful font scaling, with many apps not optimized for the format. So I don’t agree that Apple has better apps for the Mini. I also have the Flip 4 but may go with the Fold next yea and trade in the Mini.
The z fold is a weird phone . I just bought it and I'm coming from iphone 14 pro max which I still kept. I have used the 22 ultra which I didn't lovd but I think the 23 is the one. anyway I love iphone the best. However I'm not a social media user I deleted it all besides RU-vid and now I really just am using the phone for gaming RU-vid, pictures work. I need more time with the fold 4 but I will say this. I love using the phone when it's not opened up the front screen is narrow and it feels great. Shocking. When opening it up and watching anything it feels like a different phone and experience. Video calling. Notes. School. Job application. Work. All are better with Samsung fold. Iphone is just simple and really good. Galaxy fold is like a spaceship 🚀 and iphone is like a private jet that can get very close to space .
My iPad Air stays in the bedroom for Hulu/Disney watching in bed. Before my Fold 4, the iPad was my main browsing tool and viewing forums. Typing on it was such a pain. The Fold 4 is just ... perfect for anything I need.
I have a Fold 4 and two tablets. I like to spread the load and not have to charge any one device too often. If I used my Fold 4 100% of the time I would be charging it twice a day.
I have Fold4, but still have ipad pro 12.9, 11.5, mini, air. Lenovo tab pro 13, 11.5. Huawei 10.9, 7.... Fold4 for outside use, tablets for home. But lately does not touch the tablets much....😅
