Z900RS stock exhaust DeCAT - Getting ready for the link pipe

Ordered a link pipe off eBay that removes the "bread box". That will get rid of the CATs, as well as a solid 10lbs from the bike. It retains the stock headers and muffler, and will look clean but sound like a full aftermarket exhaust.
I did all the prep work in this video, and as soon as the link pipe arrives we will install that.
The next step will be to get the bike up to Chris at Moore Mafia where we will dyno tune the new setup. Can't wait!

Hi Dave, how to remove the CAT inside the pipe? regular drill and just drill through and take it out? was the CAT welded to the pipe? thanks

I just love the Z900RS it looks and is a great bike. But there are so many things you can do to this bike to make it suit you. And you have really got stuck into your bike for sure. Enjoying all your stuff and looking forward to your next video

When I get it in the dyno in a couple weeks, I was thinking of doing before and after video both for sound, and to see the performance difference the breadbox vs link pipe makes. Stay tuned.

If you left cat in header pipe and just replaced bread box with mid pipe could you be good without a tune?

Yeah. It won't hurt anything. I did the tune to make sure, but you would be fine, just a little lean here and there, nothing to worry about.

I did the same thing on my 2019 Cafe and used the Kawasaki performance Akrapovic pipe it was way to loud and it was a bad loud. So I went and got Dale Walkers Hole Shot pipe sounds great now.

Hopefully mine isn't that loud... If it is, I can always buy an aftermarket slipon to tone it down I guess...

Got Delkevic headers for mine. Decided on this rather than cut the cat and link pipe as I can easily put stock headers + cat back on to get back to stock. Turned out to be way too loud so now have a Chinese db-killer in the pipe which has made it not so loud.

I thought about those headers, but I figured this was $99 and some elbow grease. If I really want to put it back to stock, all I have to do is take the headers and box to the local muffler shop and pay the guy $50 to weld the two pieces back together along the seam that I cut...

I did the akrapovic headers on my z900rs and it sounds damn beautiful. I am curious on how this sounds when your done with it.
