Heghineh I'm not sure if the nature of your humor and lovely way is more marketable than your adorable son's participation in the videos. I was convinced to drive to the Hallal grocery downtown Phoenix immediately after watching you make a few dishes; made the zataar and bread recipe with stuffed grape leaves. I served it to friends unfamiliar with those tastes, included homemade hummus , they all stumbled for words while stuffing their mouths. The bread surprised us all!!! thank you so much EVERYONE,DO TRY THIS RECIPE!!!!

I m from middle East and we used to put Zaatar or origano Sommaq Seseame dried coconut Pretzel chickpease dried and heated .we call it kedami And as additional ingredients for more benefits the powder of Almond Peanuts Sun flower grains or pumpkin grains

I have them all except sumac. Never heard of that spice. Now I'll have to find it.

No no no Heghineh origano is not used in Zaatar it's a middle eastern variety of thyme that's used ! There is no basil in it 😳

what is presented here is not zakhtare. zakhtare consists of the following: english thyme, almonds, peanuts, sumac, citric acid, cayenne, sesame seed, and lebleboo (fried or baked garbanzo beans). there are measurements to follow of course, but, this is the original recipe. heghineh looks like a sweet lady/mom/, but from viewing most of her recipes, she doesn't know authentic armenian cuisine. don't know what cultural influence she grew up with, but it is not real armenian. good for her tho in trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Za'atar recipe 2/3 of a cup Oregano (crushed, dried) 1 tbs Basil (crushed, dried) 1 tbs Toasted Sesame seeds 1 tbs Sumach (or more, depending on your preference) 1/2 ts Sea Salt (or less) 1/2 ts Black Pepper (grounded) 1/4 ts Cumin (grounded, dried) Mix it/ shake it :)

REAL ZAATAR Z IS DIFFICULT TO FIND, MOST IS WILD HARVESTED IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANIAN. ONLY ONCE I HAVE FOUND BUNDLES OFF REAL ZAATAR HERB IN AN ARAB STORE IN EUROPE.
