I agree. _if_ he gets the opportunity and keeps good health, this guy will smote his haters. He will win the rookie double double this year. He's already too dangerous not to.
They’re not gonna pass him the ball bc Summer League is basically AAU ball. The coaching isn’t as good and the players are trying to showcase themselves.
Great job by Edey, I am even more excited for the season. GG Jackson was making me so mad though. He obviously wasn’t shooting good and he kept trying to be the hero. We should’ve kept feeding Edey.
@@donut9044 you do realize a few of the 5 shot blocks Walker Kessler had was Zach Edey right? Or you just watched the highlights 😂😂😂 we gotta buy you a Zach Edey sized thong young fella😆
ESPN is full of shi# the world wide leader in lies & narratives…How they’re not talking about these other rookies? Zach gives me that 90s early 2000s Big man vibe…
I don’t think they’re hating. Summer League is basically AAU ball. So players don’t have contracts or looking to make a name for themselves. It’s basically selfish basketball. Edey literally has nothing to worry about since he was Memphis’s first pick.
It’s because a lot of them don’t care for the win but to make a team after summer league. So they’re trying to show what they have other than letting a player that was a lottery pick show out.
@@richardrehagen901 ya not sure if you watched this game or looked at his scouting report. He will come into the league at one of the top 5 screen setters and he can already score better than Adams.
Yeah, Edey doesn't need to be a stopper. No one will stop Edey. Just impede him, make his production more difficult. It would be a team effort, with JJJ, and defending the other positions. But Edey presents as a potentially different defender than everyone else Wemby will face in the paint. Just needs to keep that chip on his shoulder, work hard, and not get too frustrated. He was the best player in NCAA. He won't be in the NBA. That isn't a bad thing, if he responds well. Looks like he has.
Grizzlies got a modern Big Country. Wish the Dubs got him! Damn it man! Remember he's a hockey player first so those diving on lose balls will be his thing like Rodman!
I begged my Spurs to draft this guy, but no! There seemed to be some sort of mental barrier or blockage that kept most NBA teams from seeing just how dominant Zach Edey will be in his NBA career! Good job Memphis! Too bad my Spurs were so short sighted; At least as far as not drafting Zach!
Not near as good of a shooter as Yao. But the guy gets better at such a rapid pace…. So I think that’s something he could develop….and he’s much more mobile. He’s got great hands. People keep talking about him being slow and heavy footed. He looks like he gets up and down the court better than most 7 footers….And he’s what? Like 7’5 290 lol ? Honestly I see a lot of Steven Adams and Brook Lopez in him….. but 4 or 5 inches taller. I like the sound of that.
Why u said ming is it because the way he looks ? Or is it skill?? Thats why when y'all make these dumb comparisons y'all look stupid just let the dude carve his own niche
Such a good fit. Grizzlies are great at letting guys play to their strengths - they get a big monster who likes to roll to the basket? They are gonna let him roll to the basket. His rebounding and size just scream Memphis. As a Celtics fan, my wildest dream was that all the teams would listen to their scouts, and decide that Edey was, like, too big and slow to play, and he'd fall allll the way down to Boston - who would have to take him, bc he's too consistent of a winner to pass up. But I'm glad he landed in the House That Tony Allen Built, he's got a real shot, there.
Those shorts make him look 8 feet tall lol. The Grizz are the perfect franchise for Edey. Return of the big man. *"Whether you like it or don't like it, learn to love it!"* - Ric Flair WOOOOOOOOO
I said it when they drafted him. Once ppl rethink what the Grizzlies are doing and think about Edey as a valuable option at C.. They will be happy with this draft and Jaylen Wells was who I wanted my Pacers to pick up with their first late pick.. Dude is a phenomenal shooter and can create his own shot a bit, high I.Q.. Grizzlies did great with their selections.. also hit on GG, who Pacers let slide past them for no reason... smdh... I'm beginning to become a Grizzlies fan.
Can’t wait to see Ja play with his own tower to lob assist to all game hopefully they play good team ball and Ja comes back healthy he’s easily the most exciting player to watch on the court for me right now him and Ant 🐜
Yeah Edey will be scary, imagine a grown prime edey, he may just become the modern day shaq. Even rookie embiid took some time to become this dominant and grow into his body
I bet he will be in the race for rookie of the year. First picks are solid all-around players but no one has the potential to dominate the league like Edey. Future will tell
Zach edey will be the best player in this draft, may win an MVP. He will grow as a player and you can’t teach his size. He’s going to be so valuable in this new center era we’re seeing in the recent years. He will be able to defend wemby and play fairly well against him offensively, and he will probably destroy Chet when they face off. Super excited to see his growth and to see this nba season!
When I saw him in college, I thought he might just be a 12th man stiff in the league, but his footwork is really good. He's been working. He lumbers a bit, but he has potential. And he's gigantic.
Ja Morant when he got drafted: *insert Chris Tucker Rush hour meme of tall guy* He looks a little bit skinny for someone 290 though, did he lose weight?
I just hope Zach Edey's not done developing his skills and his physique. He'll be pushed around and opposing teams will know his weakness. If he's weak shooting midrange or threes, they'll push him to the perimeter. That's why it's important for him to add a midrange game.
This guy can play but can he stay health? I am always concerned for the super tall dudes. I hope he does not go down like Yao Ming. Basketball is tough on the body.
@@colemansports23what are you talking about? There was 65 fouls in that game? They blew the whistle on Memphis every time down the court. I’m not even a Memphis fan and I could see the nba was desperate to give Utah a home game win. Edey didn’t even take a free throw, wasn’t he the guy with the most free throws attempts in college or something like that? I hope that the nba is not going to call like that this season.
@@colbybrand5326 Memphis was hand checking Keyonte George every time down the court they are going to call that shit Edey got a lot of foul calls that weren’t on the shot also College Refs loved that guy and would get off his meat bro isn’t gonna Survive in the NBA getting blocked my Kessler 3 times and missing a wide open dunk if I was 7’4 I’m making that dunk maybe you should go learn about basketball and get off Zach Mideys 🍖🤣😂😹🤪💀
the buzzer beater ball was already above the rim, isn't it illegal to put the ball in the net when its already over the rim? just wondering. also stellar performance by edey! proved his haters wrong
