Live session: Zach Hill and Carson McWhirter "Face Tat" Allot of people have been requesting that I upload this to RU-vid as well so here it is :) Shot in 2010(?) for terroreyes.tv/ sargenthouse.com/
Transcription of the comments at the end: ZH: "I'd listen to that. ZH: "Aah, this thing makes my head so fucking hot, dude." CM: "What's that? [inaudible]" ZH: "Hard to keep this -- headphones on. And this thing, like, scorches my dome, you know what I mean? It's crazy. *belches*"
Zach Hill has such a powerful right foot that he can literally use one hand to adjust his headphones _while_ playing and it has absolutely zero effect on the overall fullness of his sound
Life is going good. I am finally doing well in college, i've been getting close with a beautiful and really cool girl, and I am improving on myself daily. This has got to be the best song i've ever listened too, this very moment of time right now is pure contentment and bliss. I love you all.
Over time i start to think I'm becoming a decent musician, Zach Hill and someone pop up in my recommendations and remind me of the true spectrum of skill
i like carson much better than most math rock guitarists even though they have more twinkly riffs. theres just something about his style that stands out. same can be said for Spencer Seim
They're two of those guitarists who have such a unique, characteristic approaches to chordwork and melody that you can tell it's them when you hear them on something new
Wow.. I cant remember the last time I heard a guitarist put out a sound that was truly unique. Zappa? So I just got hip to these cats via another crazy video of the drummer. So let me get this straight there are ( 2 ) musicians in this band that are freaky geniuses? Jeez lueez.. Lucky to have one mad genius in a group let alone 2 anomalies.
if you want to hear more mad genius propelled by zach's inhuman drumming check out Death Grips (recommended album is The Money Store or Bottomless Pit) and The I.L.Y.s - two projects he's been involved in. other groups with batshit drummers that i like are uhhhhh Clown Core and Big Lad (formerly Shitwife - fave song by them is Eating Food and Fighting Wizards
+CRUZ I believe he said something in an interview about how he tends to tighten his snares a bit too much for most people's tastes, but then undoes the wires to get his sound or something like that.
As a guitar player this piece of music has baffled me ever since first hearing it. Has anyone ever tabbed this? does anyone how this guy achieves this massive sound? Cheers
@@edtr8434 Me too! I've done some research on the pedals and i THINK he's using a double wah pedal...Not sure. just like to know your thoughts on this.
@@Steakduboeuff hmm doesn’t look like he’s using pedals. Knowing Carson’s playing style it’s all in his hands. He’s sliding up and down the neck quite a lot. Possibly a different tuning as well to allow for that fluidity in his playing.
I actually hope Zack, Omar, & Cedric get creative together again soon. Omar can write great shit while Zack & Cedric can pull it off perfectly. Omar & Zack have colabs out from the past worth checking out.
You should check out the album is song is from if you haven’t already (FACE TAT) as well as Zachs other work in bands like Hella, Nervous Cop, and Death Grips
@@n0denz its funny cuz its true, in old hella footage he talks about how it becomes impossible to play the kick how he can late into the sets because he is literally drenched in sweat. its insane
