I agree. Klay thompson wasnt projected to be a star as well coming out. But hes seriously making a case for that now. Hope my lakers draft him. With nash and kobe mentoring this kid, i wont bet against his future
Talented, yes, but he's far from contributing at the NBA level. Extremely raw and has tunnel vision with the ball in his hands. His highlight reel dunks and athleticism make him look like a better basketball player than he really is. He'd be better off going to a good team where he can develop and be taught how to really play the game at the NBA level.
At UCLA he was asked to play off the ball with Kyle Anderson running the point. In Minnesota he will be asked to play both guard positions. In summer league play he showed the ability to create for others and himself. He has excellent handles and can create his own shot.
yo lol thats exactly how am feeling man...theres a good chanve he goes to philly at ten ...and sixers have third pick....plus they have carter williams...if he goes to sixers that will me my second team or where ever he goes lol
What's intriguing is that he's ridiculously athletic and that's what got nba scouts salivating over him reminded me if Westbrook back when he played for ucla a transition nightmare for other teams and instant offense
I watched him play in a random game I know it was one of these cause when I seen him dunk during the game I knew he was goin to the league just off a fucking dunk tho
Blake Howard no I did I follow all the ucla players who went to the college into the NBA. Many didn't know that Lavine didn't actually start with ucla.
he just had one of the best combine starts of an player and moved up on a lot of mock drafts and he'll only continue to move up. Besides he is too talented to pass on for two late round picks. He is being compared to russell westbrook, any gm that would pass on someone compared to a player like that for two late round picks is an idiot. I say he doesn't fall past philly at 10.
shooting, crazy athletic...quick, fluid...probably needs a little more muscle for the NBA grind or Euroleague grind...but damn...explosive!!! can he handle the rock????? looking on youtube for vids ..can't find any with him doing such except on the solo break
Neither of those comparisons is right. Quite frankly, there isn't a good comparison currently in the NBA for LaVine. Nobody has his athleticism combined with his outside stroke. His game is most similar to Klay Thompson but he's far more athletic and isn't quite as skilled defensively.
I come from the future to say that he is gonna be the best player for the Chicago Bulls and an All-Star, and he will become a better player than Jabari Parker and Wiggins together.
With no chance of drafting Jabari Parker, hope my C's draft this combo guard with the 6th pick. I think Marcus Smart wouldn't mesh well with Rondo either.
Joshua Reyes As a SCORING COMBO GUARD, like Russell Westbrook. I'm sure if he was the starting PG in the NBA he would average more assist, probably around 4 per game. At UCLA he came off of the bench, as a scorer, like a James Harden for the Thunder.
PG?!?. Where in the hell did you see him break the defense down and set up an open teammate??? The only PG play I saw on this video was from Kyle Anderson.
Max Prime I like Kyle Anderson because of his length, he's a 6'9" pure PG. I'm saying I would want LaVine as a scoring combo guard playing PG, it's easier to facilitate when the defense identifies you as a scorer.
They project LaVine to be drafted in early 1st round and Kyle Anderson in the late 1st or early second. I think Anderson is a much better player, he plays like a Boris Diaw and I think he can be better.
He is nice, but is he tough enough for the NBA? I have seen guys like this come and go and they arent built for the NBA. I would tell him to get stronger and concentrate on his body for 82 games and Maybe the playoffs. Its a grind and him being as skinny as a tooth pick wont help matters none. I like him still, he needs to get bulkier and stronger. He look like he could break anytime!!!
Agreed but remember another bag of bones from UCLA? Doubt this kid will be able to shoot that well but him and Wiggins if placed in the same bacc court will be fun to watch for sure

Guys I understand where you are coming from, but today's NBA greatly differs from those of yesteryear! You must properly train your body for a grueling 82 game season. Today's NBA will toss him like a rag doll! You see Anthony Davis? He don't look like he did when he was at Kentucky! That dude look like he gained at least 20 more pounds. You gotta build up and eat properly to maintain yourself. Some of learn the easy and some of us learn the hard way.
those 2 are easy 10 ppg in the nba... he's one of the youngest in the draft. basketball is science nowadays... with good hops and crazy range this kid can be a superstar by the time he's 22 or 23
he has as much potential as any guards in this draft... with athleticism like that he can also be a lockdown defender if he works hard and builds up more muscles
Jeffrey Riley it's a very pure shot. Lightning quick release and great balance, even when he's "off" balance. It's also very natural and he can change his release point when he needs to. This kid could be spectacular with the right attitude, coaches and teammates.
What's a very pure shot? If he has a lightning quick release then so does every other SG in the league. It's quick but that's about it. I like him as a prospect but you're so far up his butt right now
