Crazy thing was, he wasn't getting the pilar combos he tends to get in friendlies. It was just amazing, consistent pressure from Mang0.

@@dinglepuss8594 I don't think this was a comment that invalidates zain. Zain is incredible, but this is what mango has been doing his whole career. M2K, Armada, and Leffen grinded so many hours at their peak performance. Perhaps the same if not more than Zain . Mango definitely played less than them, but still came out on top every so often. But it's also one of the biggest reasons why he busters out in some tourneys lol. It's just what mango does.

@SmiffyLel the issue is I doubt axe can ever make it to GF again to even play against zain. Dude needs to start using his falco. I think pikachu has been pushed about as far as he can go, which is stupid impressive on axe. But in the end his character is still limited.

His side B mix ups were so clean. Only the Mang has the balls to side b straight into Zain game 3 on FD

Honestly, Mango's close range short hop laser approaches followed by wavedash shine seemed to be unstoppable. I think Zain needs to figure out how to counter that, which is a hard timing to master, if he plans to power shield them. Dunno, I'm sure that if anyone can figure out how to deal with it it's Zain, but apart from Mango's edge guards and combos being on point, it seemed that that was a qualitative addition to his approach game that has definitively progressed the meta.

Actually some of his short hop laser approaches were followed by short hop dairs or fairs. Really solid mixup.

@Tomjo5 Armada was so good at Melee it was freaky. I have issues with how he holds himself and how he shit talks the community that basically just housed him in awe like Jesus coming to eat dinner with your family. But he was pretty unbelievable. Mang0 was mostly not trying too hard (2017-2019) during those times and watching Hbox vs Armada was great. You can go watch their Genesis 1 2 or 3 sets and watch unparalleled prodigal talent go at it. To this day I get goosebumps watching Mang0 rest Armada out of the roll down 2-1 in the grands of Genesis 1. The two best ever.

@@pippincovington1348 I wrote an essay, but I deleted it all. Armada is the BEST player I have ever seen with my own two eyes and I've played this game since I was 3. I've gone to tourneys, seen all of the God's in person, lost to PPMD in a pools set one time. Credible source. Armada is the best player ever. He was a savant and a true genius. Everything he did was calculated beyond calculated. Picture Zain, but with 15 years of game sense and situational awareness. Just gorgeous art that he'd draw, like picture a Bill Russell on defense. He would grind matchups and combos out in an empty room against a level 1 Fox for hours. It was his passion and somehow it went away. But dear God, man. He would be the best today if he was still playing. With Peach. Nevermind the Fox. He says things of the Melee meta and has poopooed how the community treated him, like LeBron James being pitted against the gauntlet every fight with people wanting him to lose. Mang0 is the most incredible player I've ever seen, never a person that belonged with a GameCube in their hands more, and the way he stuck to the game in its darkest days because he loved it so much and he knew if he left it would die. Mang0 has sacrificed a lot of his own life and how it went down for Melee and you can see that he understands the game deeper than anyone, but Armada was just a cold killer. Mang0 is the better artist, but Armada is like a printing machine vs an artist. No creativity, no anything but a perfect photo. Mang0 draws and makes things you've never seen before. Armada wins. Mang0 wins in spectacular fashion down 2-1 in a set or he steamrolls. Two best players ever for sure. Honestly I just hate that he left. Best player ever for sure.

Mango's blueprint makes it debatable in a way that's kind of theoretical for every other spacey but Mango, where for Mango it looks like Falco does beat Marth on FD. Crazy.
