I’ve been watching this specific show starring Svetlana and Roberto since I was 10. Now I’m 19 and still can’t get enough. I can’t believe how long it’s been since they did this, they look so young here!
While pointework is extremely diffucult, demanding and painful at times, professional dancers who are on pointe for 8+ hours a day are strong enough to not experience continuous pain. You get used to being on pointe if you dance enough and the shoes become like second skin.
None of the Swan Lake performances nowadays - specifically starring Zakharova in it - match this one with all the emotions attached to it and its otherworldliness. Something about it makes it truly a historical performance. She became a more emotionally cold dancer as she passed her youth. Youth makes for some dazzling emotions but the great Plisetskaya had dancing engraved upon her soul.
I think it was made with the help of a double (a ballet dancer that then comes and does those movements with the arms (already in a tutu), but I'm not sure)
I love videos like this, but my brain hurts from them playing music from a part of the ballet other than the one being rehearsed, esp the jester with the apotheosis!
Do you have the full prologue please please?? Even if it looks like it would be the "russian" ersion (and I prefer the one performed for ex by the ABT) I would love seeing another full vid of the danced prelude!
