Zakir Hussain is extraordinary! He makes the tablas talk and sing through his fingers! When I listen to his music time disappears and I get kidnapped by his transcendental music. My always favorite is Music of the Desert.

Even i can play faster than that... And he is maestro so he did not even show 10 perc of what he is capable of... But i get ur feeling...😂😂😂😂 When i heard the filght of bumble bee on violin for the firat time... I was like.. awestruck....so any beginner would feel that way
Anand Vyas My question is, whether having a famous father has helped him??? Every tabla player work their arse off. Shankar, Sharma, Chaurasia, Ali Akbar, Bismillah Khan and many others made him popular.
K B And I answered you. Fasal Quershi And Tariq Qureshi are both his brothers and not nearly as famous and not able to keep on the list of millionaires in music... they could’ve kept the last name Husain as well (which is even harder to get famous with)... No it’s a skill, because it doesn’t matter how much they practiced if the end result isn’t this great. Very much like Pt. Nikhil Bannerjee who was a sitar player... Ali Akbar Khan played Sarod (and his father was super famous) and the other names are not even tabla players... Bismillah Khan played Shenai
Anand Vyas Let's critique it a bit more. Well, thanks for your input. So do you think tabla players are always weary of melody and counterpoint, or is there only aim is to identify the sum!!! I have often seen tabla players increase bass and volume of their instruments at the expense of melody and the main instrumentalist is left at the volume of deafness. Zakir Hussein always does it.
