I'm saddened to hear about you and your husband being attacked, sister. May Allah protect you and your family. Please take all necessary precautions and be aware of your surroundings when you're out and about. I am glad that you did not let this experience diminish you in a negative way. I would like to mention, while you are correct that the final true justice is with Allah, and it is your choice and right to deal with this matter as you see fit, there is a benefit in seeking justice for this in this world. Criminals and usually emboldened once it becomes clear that there are no repercussions to their actions. Most will continue to commit these crimes with more confidence and possibly more serious consequences. It is something to think about. Again, this is in no way a reproach against your decision, rather a different perspective that might offer some contemplation. I am sorry that the authorities were not helpful in dealing with this. I would like to say I am surprised, but sadly I am not. But we are ment to struggle and strive in this world, so perhaps this is a test. We should seek and ask for Allah's help and guidance and use the gifts he has given us towards that goal, and Inshallah we succeed if HE deems it so. May Allah forgive me if I have said anything by mistake or in error, and may you find success and peace in your endeavours.

At last, seeing tears in your eyes brought tears to me also. Alhamdulillah, May Allah guides us all to the straight path and forgive all of our evils.

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقًّا وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ قِيلا

the absolute justice requires a God because impossible for someone to get away from the crime because God who apply justice. Simple as that.
