Ok, I think this just might be the best interview yet. I love it. A lot of great insight that every player should hear. I love Zak's approach to creating his tone and style. He just might be my favorite metal player.
Back in the day, after Ozzy....about the same time as _Pride and Glory,_ clean faced Zakk put out a video called _Pentatonic Hardcore._ Prolly the most amazing guitar instructional ever. He covers all kinds of techniques from his signature squeal to chickin pickin and much more. His vibrato is just as awesome as his pinch harmonics. Awesome controlled explosiveness. It's here on YT I'm pretty sure.
he was at about his best at that time I think, very diverse. Would have loved if he had continued in that direction more than the BLS doom stuff but hey
Sounds like a lot of people will enjoy this course and it's not just an ego trip, but a genuine course to help people develop their playing. Having someone you really respect running it will be great to players as an inspiration. I enjoyed the interview.
Man, Zakk was that guy that made me want to play better, he had a groove with his band, theN with ozzy , it was something else. Got into him at the same time as Pantera. It blew my mind, as a young guitarist. I started to see it like, a single guitarist can do different things and make a sound huge. But they all have their own sound.
What an unlikely pair but it really worked. Awesome interview and conversation 👏 I’ve loved Zakk since I first discovered him about 23 years ago. What an amazing talent and personality. Fan for life 🤘
We meet Zakk twice, have a family photo with him, such a fantastic person. I was kinda enough to sign my Marshall 4010 jcm800 combo. I've been a huge fan since No rest for the wicked, I always related to his playing style over anyone else for some reason if that makes sense lol. Always a fun guy to watch interviews with!
Philip your talking guitar with Zakk Wylde so cool --and love your show Thank you for your videos. About gear I am trying to upgrade to a better guitar What do you think about ESPLTD Viper 256 guitars and also the ESP viper baritone
I have a Barbarian, I absolutely love it. I will say though, try and play one before you commit. They are huge. They are pretty heavy and the necks on them are super chunky and thicc not what the typical shredder looks for. I love big necks and I play pretty rough when I get into it and I love that it doesn't feel delicate, it's so solid that it makes me want to go hard. Again I fucking love it.
