🔴 Zănoagei Gorges, Scropoasa Lake, and Seven Springs Waterfall is the route I propose to you. The easiest way is to search on Waze or Google Maps "Camping Zănoaga". From here the route starts and also here you can park the car. It is one of the most beautiful routes in the Bucegi Mountains, of medium difficulty.
It is well marked, so you can't get lost, but it is preferable to start it in the first part of the day because, in the evening, the area is frequented by bears.
Basically, the route to the lake requires more descent and does not require you at all physically. When you return, you will demand more of your legs, but without making an extraordinarily high effort.
Towards the end of the route, you will meet Scropoasa Lake. Here you can turn left and after 5 minutes walk on the forest road to reach the 7 Izvoare Waterfall or you can turn right and in 10 minutes reach a bridge over Scropoasa Lake, which offers you an absolutely wonderful view. You can still reach the Orzei Gorges, but this route remains on another date.
Scropoasa Lake is an artificial dam lake built in 1929 for hydropower purposes, located at almost 1200 meters altitude, with an area of 5.7 hectares. Scropoasa Lake supplies the Dobreşti hydroelectric power plant, one of the oldest in Romania, built in 1936. The Scropoasa Dam is 27 meters high and 6 meters wide.
Continuing the path from Scropoasa to the west, over the bridge, you reach approx. 20 minutes to the 7 Izvoare waterfall (also called living water). This water, with special properties of quality and purity, is captured and bottled, being sold as plain water under the 7 Izvoare brand.
In Bucegi, to the east, in Cheile Zănoagei, there are seven springs whose water amazes science and feeds the myth.
Romanian and foreign researchers are trying to explain the special nature of the 7 living sources through a scientific explanation. As a result, they considered that water passes through a magnetic field, which orders its molecular structure, to the ideal. It is also assumed that water passes through a silver deposit that prevents the growth of bacteria that are indeed non-existent.
Currently, the area is closed under the justification that it would be intended exclusively for research. Maybe only the monopoly is wanted, as in the past, when only the "beloved leader" (Ceaușescu) had the exclusivity to ensure his immortality.
