I can understand that answer actually. I don't think he was "leading them on" or something. People can think they are in love. Or BE in love. But once the relationship ends, you think of it differently. You start thinking: "Well, if it WAS real love, it wouldn't have ended so badly" or you can realize it was just infatuation in retrospect. Especially when you can compare it to more pure, less dramatic, unconditional kind of love, such as love you have for your child. I think he was just reflecting about love in general. And I just watched the whole interview and he speaks nicely about Gigi, you guys just want to see "shades" and drama everywhere
The point is: when u’re young u think u know love but after you get older, you realize that you didn’t actually know what love really means and probably you now feel you should have done better
Someone else said he dated someone for 4 years, proposed (ended it) and also dated someone and chose to have children with them (ended it.) Both of those cases he said he wasn't in love. More than likely he has a dismissive attachment and will never learn what love is until he addresses this. At 31, he is either a narcissist, has severe trauma or both.

The thing is there is such confusion abt being in love and loving someone, in his case he must loved them to get engaged and tattooed Perrie’s face on his arm and especially with Gigi, he tattooed her eyes on his chest and had Khai with her - a symbol of their love at that point in their relationship … he has definitely matured and finding himself in his 30’s. I admire his honesty, the majority would never admit it, becouse of respect for the girls but speacially for the shame of being a certain age and never knew what is love, we live in a society in which love and heartbreaks etc are super overrated like you know what's life when you know what is romantic love

I don't think people should be allowed to comment on an interview they didn't watch, of a person they've never even met ... I've watched the full interview and loved it! He sounded very mature, deep, insightful, and intelligent.
I think what he meant is : he doesn't know what actually being in love is so he doesn't knoow if he did fell in love or not .... Isn't that what we all feeel w?! Dontn we all have those moments of inner reflection and start questioning the relationships in our life ?!

Takes guts to say that. And I see that. People overall get into relationships solely because society expects that and they don't want to be alone hence why they fall apart all the time and few months later there's new one. There is s saying '' why bonfire's fire goes out? It burns, burns and burns out because people are too lazy to go get wood''. i think people misunderstood what he meant. being inlove with someone is a whole different thing to just being in a relationship. sometimes , you date someone for years and then things will just start to fall apart. i think zayn said what he said because he has a different understanding of what love is now ( because of his daughter) even though he stated that he isn’t sure what love truly is or if he’s been truly inlove. often, you know what love is because you’ve first experienced what love isn’t. often, people get confused on what love is. they often think infatuation is love.

I totally understand him i also dated someone fr years at tat time i thought i was in love but it ws lust now wen i look back i wasn't in love with them.love is wen both r ready to understand eachother emotionally we can feel it tat this person is the one n both don't give up on each other simple.
When you're young, you think lust is love, so it makes sense that he doesn't think that he's been in love he's getting older and wiser, learning the difference between love and lust.
To be honest I liked him better with Perrie,when he started to date Gigi everyone was like”Gigi -Zayn” and personally I never liked these two together🤷🏼♀️
He was in love according to his understanding and personality then. As he changed and grew he didn’t find that to be the real type of love anymore. It’s normal. We love from the place of our maturity and understanding and perception at the time. We evolve so as our understanding and emotions too.

I cant judge him bc I only had one bf and right now after a year and a half almost after our break I can say that I dont think I was in love or that I actually loved my ex bc I had problems and he was a narc so I thought that it was love but it was a codependent/narc dynamic and it took me a while to understand that I stayed with him bc of the traumatic bond we had and bc I grew up in a toxic enviroment that didnt showed what a healthy relationship looks like so for me it was normal to have super controlling and jealous guy that isolated me from everyone and destroyed my selfsteem so I wouldnt leave him bc i thought no one else would love me like "he did" which is wrong bc he never did and I should love me first, I never told him this, i said goodbye, went far away and blocked him everywhere
So many people confuse lust with love and once the initial infatuation stage is over, assessing weather or not you're compatible is the real test. I think he's being very honest with this answer as many would probably not have the guts to answer this at all.

For those people who are coming at Zayn. Just stop okay. What he said is facts like it is normal for people date another person and think that they are in love with them when they are really not.
