For anyone who didn't catch the name of the curve brushes I use most: "CurveStrapSnap" (Belts), "CurveTube"(Edges), "IMM ArmyCurve" (Bullets), "IMM Curve" (Miscellaneous) - Those all come out of the box by default in ZBrush, and I HIGHLY recommend using them in your project as fast as possible! Literally takes seconds to make things that take hours in other software :)

Great tutorial. Curves are what first interested me in Zbrush too. Some of the ones on Artstation are amazing; snakes, chains, even fully detailed creature tails that are a million+ polys.

I knew most of the stuff you could do with Curves as I just started to play with them because of anime hair but I 100% wished I knew about the curve wrap around an object months ago when trying to make a dang belt from my character's pants. it was a paint cause of the inside faces.

One of best ways to make anime hair is by traditional modeling with reference in orthographic at first. Then you Dynomesh in ZB, shape the strands how you want to just make sure backface masking is turned on and retopo it. It gives the most interesting results as you can blend strands with each other in some parts of the head, while other parts can have separate smaller strands PDD Dzung and Ucupumar are just couple of artists who I believe don't use curve meshes for hair these days And Dzung was character desighner for Subverse game, he also has a tutorial of rigging hair like that

*Curve Wrap TIPS & QUESTIONS* : Tips: - Make sure the mesh you project the curve onto doesn't have too many polygons and isn't dynameshed _else zBrush will start lagging_ - Turn *_Lazy Mouse_* off _else it will bug around like crazy and most probably won't work at all_ (I am using zBrush 2022 hopefully they fixed this issue in later versions) Questions: - How do I snap the curve on an axis? - Why doesn't it work properly with *_Lazy Mouse_* turned on?

It would be interesting to add the Picker palette, as it has options that affect curves. In addition to the repel options in the stroke palette.

To rotate the curve you need to click first then hold control, it took me a bit to figure that out.

The video is good but doesnt cover my issue that i cant seem to find a solution to. For me , deleting a curve doesnt delete the mesh. Also i cant find any way to select a previous drawn curve to edit it later. I am trying to make some sort of wolf hair using the curve for stylized hair but i cannot seem to make anything work. I made the model in Maya and i want to add the hair using Zbrush as it seems is way more capable for what i want yet nothing works. How do i select previous curves ? How do i delete one and delete its mesh too ?

@2:14 I find smoothing the Curve by holding down Shift and left mouse button doesn't smooth the curve, it smooths the geometry. Similarly at 1:36 Twisting the curve doesn't work, Ctrl+Left click drag while the mouse is blue just makes me draw a mask on the Curve mesh.

@@tlilmiztli Given we have things like CAD Sketcher that uses geometry nodes to add FreeCAD-like sketches that you can later go back and edit, I think making brushes like this would be pretty easy in comparison. (Check out Maker Tales for some really amazing plug-ins that you wouldn't think are possible.)
